  1. Call me negative again , but I see nothing changing substantially enough to make it all substainable. But the biggest sign to me is , I cannot see how they are going to increase wagering in this NZ environment. The interest levels locally just aren't there, the punter owner breeder is getting so old now and we are missing 2-3 generations & that's assuming the next generation are even interested. For me it's another false dawn but this time a false dawn that wipes out all but the elite.
  2. No such thing as the mafia in nz racing ... 😂
  3. Racing Industry does not need assistance from the Government to cock things up, they can stand alone in delivering results in that area.
  4. What a wonderful spectacle that racing was on the AWT from Cambridge yesterday , some fantastic 5 horse fields and some really interesting racing, Watching horses drop out 500 from home was great to see also. Give me more of this exciting, enthralling winter racing on the AWT please NZTR this is what we need, I couldn't leave my seat all day I was glued to the silly box watching the drama filled afternoon unfold. Can't wait to hear Pops & Rodders give us the low down on those all important sectionals as well, especially with some of these horses going back to the grass tracks to race that will certainly be helpful. Great to see the crowd right behind it as well, people dressed to the nines getting their winter AWT racing fix. Absolute genius move by everyone to get these grass tracks closed down as they have the AWT as replacements, we need to close down more and more of these tracks so we can have more and more races on the AWT. I know I'll be sending my mare to stud this season in anticipation of her producing a 1st class AWT horse, particularly in the winter. AWT racing is the future, embrace it, love it, live it ... its the kiwi way!
  5. Is that the same crowd who want to raise the minimum bet in this country?
  6. Been there done that , I wouldn't waste the binary on it!
  7. Only the case cause theyve been ignored, please explain to me how $350k mdn races enhance net revenue...I'm all ears!!
  8. $3k for industry type races and thats rewarding mediocrity...wow just wow!
  9. Have to agree with CS, they have no idea and they only care about the top end and the sales. Thats why I don't think in the medium term this is that positive an outcome for NZ racing.
  10. I would have liked to have seen some stakes money recognition for some of the historic races to perhaps assist in returning them to their former glories, I can't see how the new races contribute anything but a fabricated copy cat situation of Aus racing. Why not bring the Parliamentry,Whyte Handicap, Tauranga Classic, Kiwi Fruit Cup the list goes on back to their former glories. One $350k race prizemoney would achieve that for a number of them.
  11. Fair enough, that makes it seem even more strange. If you have a decent 4yo surely your likely to be looking at the G1 with it at any rate, now the $1millrace will do to the G1 what the Karaka Million has done to the 2yo G1s.
  12. Well I'm always going to get called a negative Nelly but I think the stakes are again apportioned in many of the wrong places. $100k more for G1... pointless another $1m sale race , why? a $350k mdn(MAAT) race utterly preposterous use of stakes money 3 x $100k AWT races , just silly. 25k for Twilight races , why? Always good to get an increase at the bottom , but they shd have gone all out down at the grass roots.
  13. Absolutely, not often that NZTR aren't right on the money.
  14. $7k fine & hey carry on ... No such thing as the mythical cartel .
  15. Wow ... Geez I wonder why they are allowed to race horses there... Yeah nah I don't.
  16. The same situation will most certainly happen here, Entain deal will push for Ellerlsie,Te Rapa, TA a track in the CD & SI the rest will be toast with the assistance of the government, writing on the wall.
  17. What do you think they have been doing to these venues for the last decade? How much more user friendly can they get? What you say simply will not happen, any benefits accruing from such retail actions have already more than materialised. Same goes for getting young people into the sport, what magic wand does Entain have that the TAB or NZTR didn't?
  18. Only a couple fo reasons for that, that business (NZ TAB) is desparate (likely) or someone is making something out of it.
  19. Matamata , like Hastings was also rescheduled , many meetings are not and you don't have to be blind Freddy to work out those ones.
  20. Going to send everyone back there next Tuesday , lucky like Matamata the club is in with the establishment! No such thing as a cartel in nzracing lmao
  21. That sums up NZTR attitude toward everything when it comes to smaller clubs.
  22. Utterly sad , this eSports. Yet another example of how lazy & pointless culture is becoming.
  23. All those starting are lucky it's a northern meeting.
  24. Exactly , outstanding rider in this country for years.
  25. The question is though , should that cut of a horse really be racing here in $14k races or piss poor Saturday stakes for the prices paid for them? It's a joke , the KM a prime example. I know I'll get CS fanboy mode here how everyone can buy them if they want to etc etc etc but in reality the quality of horse they are racing in NZ distorts the landscape considerably imho.
