    AWT

Page 14 onwards might hint towards it https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/Phase 1_NZTR_VenuePlan FINAL.pdf 600 horses meaning trainers whose tracks are closed will just upsticks to Riccarton or the horses from that area will, so cannibalised growth is that what you mean?

Yep the comments just scream " I have no idea about the industry I'm working in" - probably why he was hired.
  3. Exactly why stakes to shuffle more through the bottom to middle.

Some amazing stuff in this article An extra 12 race days on AWT at Awapuni next season! What if trainers don't take to it in their droves as expected/demanded? - I'm happy to be proven wrong but I don't think they will after 5 or 6 racemeetings. Doubling of horse numbers to over 400, what is this guy on? has he seen where the industry is heading? There is a lot of growth in the industry, did he mean on Gavelhouse sales? “It’s a beautiful camber, it’s a work of art. The drainage is really good.” - I've heard this about so many tracks in the industry , the proof is always in the pudding! https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/racing/300608122/synthetic-track-at-awapuni-racecourse-nears-completion?fbclid=IwAR3gCj9UKSqqJdInJTLUSZT72WuNqlQAynbB7japq1XYj_TkNkFeMAtnx20
  5. Here it is the most important document in NZ racing in 50 years! BS Venue Plan. How has the transition process gone to date? How has racing allowed these incompetents to make decisions like this? https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/No.26 - 29-1-19 NZTR Venue Plan 2019.pdf
  6. Agree its nothing more than a sad joke & no one will admit they were wrong or try to rectify their incompetent decision making. Venue Plan absolute disaster and will cause more and more damage to an already shrinking industry, but BS was a great guy cause he always picked up the phone .
  7. Yes I read that about Howie the mind boggles 😂
  8. Understand where youre coming from , but when they take alot of the fun out of it , well then money may be the only motivating factor.
  9. So basically we have to wait for these races to lose their status before they are appropriately funded (when I say wait thats stretching it a bit, not sure as an industry we have the time to get much more wrong) , certain they will find a way to make up races to fit their Prizemoney motives at any rate.
  10. Plenty have understood and for some time, but comprehension at the top isn't a strong point. I see the free trainers licensing as somewhat admiting the numbers are dwindling and trying to put a fire out with a water pistol. You only have to hear many in the industry label Saundry a success because he was a good guy and always picked up his phone FFS that's about all that's expected.
  11. They think they'll prosper without grass roots...they won't.
  12. Yep,that actually sums it up nicely!
  13. Agree, but they won't change no leader has the gumption to stand up and make those decisions that need to be made .
  14. You'd have to be very naive to not understand where many of his views come from. I'm predicting a bonanza for only a few & thus a more fragmented, divided and directionless industry.
  15. Like most nz racing entities they don't do "rocking the boat".
  16. LMAO , up because they are killing off all the other options in a desperate attempt to have the AWTs made to look successful.
  17. I would not be investing a dime in the Greyhounds, they are facing insurmountable challenges and association may not be a good thing.
  18. Today we are introducing Punters Promise. This is our promise to you that every punter will get a fair crack to take us on and win big with TAB. We are now guaranteeing to sell all of our customers a bet to win at least $2,000 on all three domestic racing codes. We know there is nothing worse than finding a horse or dog you like at good odds, but then getting your bet limited when you try to get on. We also know that we need to ensure we are maximising the returns to New Zealand’s racing and sports communities, so it is a balancing act for us, but we are committed to operating a level playing field for all of our customers. Here’s what you need to know about Punters Promise: It’s available on all New Zealand racing and on all three codes It’s available as soon as a market opens, right through to the jump It’s available on the fixed odds win market as soon as the odds are available, and It guarantees customers a $2,000 win threshold across every race, calculated as a bet to win amount For example: a horse/dog at odds of $5, we will guarantee to sell each customer a $500 bet, to win $2000 ($500 x $5 = $2,500 potential return, less $500 stake = $2000 potential win amount) How does this compare to Australian betting operators and the Minimum Bet Limits (MBLs)? It’s much better! Australian betting operators are forced to comply with the terms and conditions of each state’s racing administrative body, so they’re not offering the MBLs by choice. This means that there are varying thresholds in place and different conditions which makes it very confusing, but we’ve simplified it: While $500 is the lowest threshold (provincial harness and greyhounds), we’ve decided to adopt the highest threshold ($2,000) in Australia (which exists for metropolitan thoroughbred racing) for Punters Promise, across all three codes. In Australia, most of these MBLs only apply on the day of the race meeting. We’re committed to letting our customers have a fair crack from the time that we release our odds, so Punters Promise will apply as soon as the market is available to bet on.
  19. Don't worry plenty of reinforcements on the way ,that have heard about the resurrection of nzracing!
  20. Perhaps, but do they want to bet on the product? For me its a no, for reasons I've already outlined. If a punter outlay is less or not profitable for the industry then what is the point of it all? You could say field size and opportunity or meetings not getting abandoned but I'm yet to see any evidence to support those claims. We already have many many unprofitable meetings in this industry do we not? I'm just trying to get my head around why these are better for the industry than racemeetings run on the turf? I mean they have to be better surely or why would the industry want to build them?
  21. The gift that keeps on giving. The Chosen One - Freshened. Formerly with M Baker & A Forsman. Not likely. Coventina Bay - Went to line only fairly in the wet in weaker grade at Gold Coast last time out
  22. I don't like the look of it , some horses look very uncomfortable on it to me, much of that is born out by the spread of horses in a finish. For me I find it a horrible watch , love to see some wagering and see if punters are enjoying though.
  23. What you say makes good sense. But I can only see these surfaces ruining racing locally, for many reasons you have outlined and also because the governing body etc will do whatever they have to , to make these surfaces look succesful (that looks like it will include taking dates away from more established venues etc). If they don't work locally I can't see any exit plan out of them either. I find the racing boring and it has a somewhat cruel look about to me which isn't something I can entertain supporting. Of course I am only one person and their success or lack of it won't depend on my support ...still I'd love to see some wagering figures for the venues we should have some good data by now available and I'm not sure why thats kept from the industry.
  24. Obviously a clash of personalities somewhere. Must be a heap of provincial tracks he can up sticks and go to ...
  25. Imagine if these pretenders running the industry put this much effort into actually improving the state of the industry as they do pushing this level of total BS! These charges are nothing more than a farce, both this case and several others.
