  1. Can't wait for the AWT racing at Awapuni - yee hah!
  2. There has always been some light at the end of the tunnel for some 20% of the industry, for the other 80% that light is a freight train coming at them through the tunnel, unfortunately for the 20% the drivers of the freight train are incompetence personified!
  3. Heartbreaking news, RIP brave young man!
  4. Yet more sense from across the Tasman https://www.racing.com/news/2022-08-08/news-feature-the-docs-declaration-8822?fbclid=IwAR1_2HW2aqPKohDgWRtEgxCkUEZ9hVpTo3s61Ip8rwKpAhXQVY_3B-4Y8Yw
  5. Industry days over here we are racing for their Non TAB stakes - astonishing really. How long before their Picnic meetings catch up to our Industry days....6 months???
  6. What are they doing wasting $$ on the Grassroots for , utter madness , its got to come top down thats the only way it'll work like here in NZ!
  7. It's over (jumps racing) it won't recover from where it is now, 3-5 years tops .
  8. Will the RIU even matter anymore when they realise they can't afford it? That surely can't be too far away ,given government's propensity to rid the world of harmful addictions?
  9. I would not have thought they were a joke if both sides of the equation had to be met to deliver their expected distribution figure?
  10. More likely they'll be lurking around agenda inflicted abandoned racecourses.
  11. One wonders what marketing they actually do? Surely can't cost much.
  12. Yes this will be a bit of a test case for the industry and the Act, coinciding with all the tough talk from the CEO. As it stands we look to be heading into a future where we are largely dependent on venues with leased land , which is utter madness especially considering public opinions on the sport.
  13. Haha thanks for the laughs SA, we need them !
  14. Yes, its just about time for Benchmark 55's in NZ.
  15. If only such big talk was true SA, the problem has been no one has spoken up unless it impacted on their patch, when in reality in the world of nzracing many patches are required and we are now paying the price for such apathy and nepotism. Many in the industry blindly follow the words of some of the bigger trainers , owners , studs and industry participants as they way forward when if the truth be known they have little regard for anyone but themselves.
  16. I think they are warming the industry up for a round of it in the next few years, you've only got to read between the lines at almost every press release from the current CEO.
  17. I think NZTR would have put standards in place if they could have, but they knew as well as many the standards would have most likely illuminated the incompetence at the wrong venues for their narrative. In my view the Venue Plan of BS has done the most harm to the industry, even more so than the M report, many are too blind to see it, but in time it will also impact on the sustainability of the favoured venues.
  18. Me thinks your confidence is misfounded - 6 months later in NZ ....!
  19. It's comforting to know that NZTR will have a back up plan for racing in about 6 months or perhaps just another hard hitting email from the CEO?
  20. Complete joke, doing anything and everything to make the AWT appear to be seen as the answer.
  21. True , but then the 2yo black type race in Feb. run at New Plymouth is usually poorly supported, at least these winter 2yo races seem to attract ok sized fields usually & because of the bog tracks give CD trainers a chance against the northerners.
  22. Sometimes those noms don' t update till overnight online , so I'd expect some larger fields. But look at the programming again, we have a 3yo 1400m (initially 5 ir 6 noms) a week before these horses are 4yos and no mdn 1400m race , it isn't rocket science to work out how to get better field sizes in some instances.
  23. The easy solution and common sense solution, substituting a Saturday meeting for a Thursday meeting(when that is an option) in terms of interest and wagering turnover is just plain dumb , even by their incredibly low standards!
  24. Nope, they now get the opportunity to race at Te Rapa , because no alternative tracks available , its now just pure comedy! Where is Bernard Saundry when you need him around to enjoy the fruits of his labour!
  25. Here is the real end game A manufactured Asset Grab. "But the repeated failure of some tracks to measure up to the required standard will only boost calls for more track closures, especially when struggling tracks could in some cases be sold for tens of millions and their clubs, and the overall industry, use that money to hold vastly enriched meetings as tenants at other tracks."
