  1. Wasn't the partnership a ways and means of getting around the ridiculous NZTR Covid restrictions?
  2. Perhaps , perhaps not though the myth you speak of has certainly hastened it.
  3. Exactly just some easy Blacktype available.
  4. Certainly nothing to do with the former, there has been multiple occassions where this has been the case elsewhere. Definitely the latter , as NM has alluded to there is certainly a manufactured move North taking place.
  5. Agree its certainly there in nzracing whether transparently so or not. A good example this week is how quickly the Taupo meeting has been rescheduled , compare that to the many many meetings in other locations which were just deleted and never rescheduled , you have to have your eyes firmly closed to not think nzracing partakes in geographical favouritism to say the very least.
  6. Certainly on results compared to previous years he has been, but as we know in the sales arena they can go from Hot to Not very quickly for no apparent reason at times or one horse by a sire can make them hot property not to mention the timing of that performance to sales.
  7. Interesting the take up for the stock of Ardrossan , they certainly look nice enough types but my word they gone a bit the early crow on him ... time will tell perhaps he is the heir apparent at WS.
  8. You mean as a Sire at the sales or to view in the flesh or both?
  9. I think they had a Zoustar with them recently from memory.
  10. Not me, I like him and the types he is leaving, his pedigree suggests they'll take time and his oldest stock are only 3yos down under , I think we will start seeing the best of them late 3yos and 4yos years. He has already shown he can leave the odd 2yo with speed and being by Dubawi out of a Dansili ,Sadlers Wells & Blushing Groom mares and his best form being over a mile + I think there is plenty to look forward to. Having said that his fee could probably do with a good slashing this season.
  11. Time Test stock have taken a bit of a bath in this sale, they have always looked like they will benefit with time to me and I think those with patience may well be rewarded. 4k for an American Pharoah someone took a hit on that. 40k for the Ferrando off a 2.5k stud fee has got to be great business.
  12. Is the Annual Software fee finally becoming an issue?
  13. I do find it fascinating how so many of these big NZ players get credit for supporting the NZ industry at the sales when most of their purchases are by Aus based sires. Interesting to note that TA couldn't find a single Almanzor to purchase from Book 1 after winning the KM 2yo with one the year before, with more than 50 in Book 1 to choose from.
  14. Don't worry they have a plan to resuscitate (keep on life support) NZracing and thats to sell up all the smaller clubs (assets) they have been screwing over for years so the Book 1 Club can continue ignore reality for a little longer.

Bernard would have just come up with the same outcomes they have now by... not listening. What the industry really needs or needed (I think its too late now anyway) was a true independent viewpoint, someone to listen to the pros and cons that knew a bit about the sport and make the venue decisions that were best for the entire industry longterm , not just for a few which is whats happened in reality and largely why we are where we are.

Wow, how very independent with Mckenzie in charge and absolutely no links with NZTR to get to the outcomes they want either ... Not!
  17. 1 rnr , hard to fathom. Temperament? I see a few sold later on.
  18. It looks like plenty did with Embellish get 3 figure books of mares at stud each season.
  19. Ocean Park had a bit of return to form with some make some decent enough prices which was good to see. I really like the stock of Ribchester , very nice types to me. I thought John Bary bought a smashig filly in Lot 149.
  20. Has a Sire gone from hero to zero as quick as Ace High , in demand last year, 4 through the ring this year to date off reasonable reserves and none finding homes.
  21. He buys the stats like most wealthy buyers, purchasing Aus breed stock that seem to mature quicker, cost more and dominate the local product. Savabeels he used to buy so many he couldn't help but get the odd couple of decent ones each season , though many of the expensive ones flops. I thought TA might have been more active on the Proisirs and Per Incanto stock, the Aus buyers certainly were, alwaya good sign.

They have ruined it , they are now dependent on the fickle "look at me" crowd , as evidenced by the utterly stupdfying Grand Tour , beans bags , jenka , an elaborate entrance way and of course some trendy booze. I may be silly but I cannot see how that is supposed to grow actual racegoers/interest or sustain numbers into the future. I've said it a million times before - racing in this country sold its soul when it kicked the country clubs in the short and curlies ... it'll never recover.
  23. Boys Get Paid Thank to every one of you who got involved this year; we had close to 15,000 people watching, which is an exceptional effort. There will be a refund heading your way very soon of around 50% of your initial stake. Time to crack a beer.
  24. I heard they returned 50% of their outlay, some very big bets.
  25. possibly 5 years then renamed -" How to restart racing in NZ!"
