  1. If you told them it would be a good idea to have an AWT meeting or the Northern region needed a meeting they'd jump at it! Besides that the clubs they are allowing to hold race days couldn't be bothered losing a day off to hold a race meeting or putting in any effort to do something that required any initiative, why would they bother ...they don't care. The "Grand Tour" will save the industry, a repackaged, regurgitated promo of already successful race days (piss ups, parties) held at the only time of year the public are interested in attending meetings, they'll give themselves a big tick for how successful they were at putting that together.
  2. Showers forecast, they'd surely call it off today if it was going to be off. Seems a course that handles the rain perhaps???
  3. That flawed premise in itself shows a lack of foresight around why we have these AWT's. The Cambridge trials being cancelled and traininers heading toward grass surfaces with their charges is a fairly conclusive consensus on the useage and future of these surfaces for racedays and trail meetings.
  4. Of course one of the issues is that lot NI or SI that lot are coming to the end of it, with no real replacements in sight.
  5. My understanding is the availability/ access to riders is a major hurdle (pun) to alot more trainers having jumpers, thus they just aren't bothering now.
  6. It the wholly traditions of NZracing managing to turn successful events into oblivion or in this case a non event (yes I realise the event had to be moved from Ellerslie) how ho hum were the GNs at Te Rapa? Without the hill at Ellerslie is this how bad the future of jumps racing looks? Heartbreaking to watch. Jumps racing needs another gimmick or something special to give it relevance( I.e. the Bool or a carnival like) , whether that be a specific course or challenge associated with a race imo.
  7. Agree , looks like a jump & finish where you land track.
  8. They'll have to take out these venues like Te Awamutu & Levin to make it work.
  9. Why would they want to race on a public holiday , when it's the same select clubs that are already holding race meetings being asked if they want to race.
  10. Here is some commonsense from the Taxpayers Union - The Taxpayers’ Union supports the principle of a day where New Zealanders can come together to pay their respects. However, taxpayers are being told by the Government to foot the huge bill for another day of leave in the public sector. For small businesses—who are still trying to recover after the pandemic—this is yet another cost loaded on. The owners of these businesses, many small family enterprises, are being told to pay not only for their own respect for the Queen, but also for all the respect shown by their staff. This is inequitable. The Queen was the queen of us all and the cost should fall on all of us. Rather than rejecting the idea of an observance to recognise the Queen, the Taxpayers’ Union believes that New Zealanders should, if they wish to do so, take a day of annual leave to mark this historic occasion and an extraordinary life.
  11. Just another cost thrown at businesses , for some the cost will be in the tens of thousands. A day off, a day in lieu, loss of productivity etc etc etc. The current crowd runnning the country are much like the personnel at NZTR , they believe their decisions as much as they appear nice to have on the surface and well intentioned have no cost associated with them and the warm fuzzies they provide are more than worth it, that as most will know couldn't be further from the truth.
  12. Apparently it was a very successful day , I'm guessing someone in a role like this would be in the know 😆 🤣 😂 https://loveracing.nz/News/37704/60SecondsWith-SamAlexander.aspx
  13. We'll take your GC and raise you Waverley, Taupo and the Cambridge Synthetic track! ... and if you really want a battle we'll throw in $20k minimum races at Ellerslie.............boom.... mic drop!!!
  14. Unfortunately this is the prevailing attitude amongst many in the NZ industry, many believe we are in a position to replicate the success of other jurisdictions without developing the fundamentals or the base and grass roots of the industry, it doesn't work like that.
  15. Interesting comments on the other channel about the AWT being great for training purposes. If that is the case that is something positive to come out of them, but why weren't they honest in the beginning about the real reasons for having these tracks if the training was the main reason? I'm hearing that there are beginning to be some concerns from the riders about riding on these surfaces race days, not sure how true those concerns are but one can understand why there would be given recent events.
  16. Don't be a negative Nelly , everything is fine in little ol NZ , we've just got to be positive and everything will be great just great (we'll great for a select few, if you're not one of them then you're just being negative)!
  17. I think we need to put this in context , Ellerslie stakes are going to be a minimum $20k...so get excited, I know I am! See the other site for further positive rhetoric.
  18. Wow I went and had a look, unless the commentator has got it wrong? Either way as you say Hopeless! If your mate isn't happy just give him the Fairy Flash line "Everything is great and youre just being negative and never have anything positive to say"! 19. Sorry but this is laughable annoucing this, the biggest club (most well looked after by the industry as well) in NZ telling the industry it'll have min stakes of $20k and this is is the sort of thing we are supposed to celebrate. Meanwhile in Nowra today a town of around 30k population they are racing for $27k! per race.
  20. Best jock in country on - Tick Breeding - Tick Race Record - Tick Trainer / Stable - Tick Draw - Tick Comparative ability vs. rest of Field- Tick Track Conditions - maybe Question mark Can't see how you go about backing anything else?
  21. You needed a trackwork report to back Imperatriz in that field?
  22. I thought it would be higher 60% about right for the suckers that believe all they hype .
  23. You could always buy a share in a horse , you'd probably get a stable tour then?
  24. True , but surely the AWT is supposed to offer a very high degree of certainty around horses getting a run or no one has noticed this year and they'll be much larger fields next year perhaps?
