  1. Agree this is a genuiely very exciting race , in fact I'd go so far as to say its a must watch. I see a little bit of rain forecast for Saturday also.
  2. No idea, but it'll be a lot stronger when these new licensing rules take place ... maybe have 5 starters :> ?
  3. You just think it can't get any worse, but this is probably the poorest field this season. Cannot retain its status as a G2 surely?
  4. One won an Aus G1 and the other a Derby not bad for a sire of his magnitude. Which are these better performed bread and butter sires you speak of? As I've pointed out plenty of so called better sires, with far greater opportunity perform a lot worse than RDC has at stud.
  5. A dual G1 producing sire off a $5k stud fee, I don't think anyone can have grounds for complaint when he is only being presented in the bread and butter basket, you don't have to be a genius to understand the types of mares he is attracting at that fee. Compared to the likes of Wandjina, Dissident & American Pharoah in Aus and he has performed more than favourably.
  6. There is a pool of racing administrators that do a bit of a merry go round, can't be long till we see him appear at another NZ club in the future.
  7. I reckon the winner might be smarter than given credit for the way she took that gap, easier run or not. Trainer looked like he knew also.
  8. Ken Rutherford went to Hawkesbury. They have the smallest owners room in the world. It's close to Mcdonalds.
  9. Placed in Mdn company 1st up last campaign would give anyone the confidence to back a horse in a G2 !
  10. Na , its the TAB comments CS Light Fingers Fangirl - Placed in Mdn company first up last campaign ( Last start won the $500k Carbine Club at Flemington ) Zouzarella - First up should find this a bit easier. (not sure how the Light Fingers can ever be considered easy)
  11. It shouldn't be so hard to do should it, but it is.
  12. I'm on...go The Elephant!!!
  13. That's got to be one of their best bits of work to date.
  14. Well and truly took the NZTR red pill years ago. He'll also be championing the new one as he is in the club courtesy of his brother.
  15. This has so many parrallels with other aspects of the sport in NZ in that those who think they are saving a few dollars by having a Computer generate them or an absolute clueless person who writes them, not sure which but don't realise the impact it has on generating wagering interest or confidence and thus is detrimental to the industry. Another prime example is the radio, defies belief that one, you'll never convince me otherwise.
  16. Blue Diamond Prelude Fillies Kiki Express - Formerly with Ellerton & Zahra, One for the Exotics (now just with Ellerton, we all know about stable split, won the Debutant Stakes 1st up) CF Orr Stakes Cascadian - 1st Up, Place Preffered ( FUP - 7-2-2, DST -10-2-3 last start 2nd in Mackinnon)
  17. Off the back of Doomed post regarding VE in the Apollo Stakes you've got to ask why they even bother? Here are some more classics for this weekend : Light Fingers Fangirl - Placed in Mdn company first up last campaign ( Last start won the $500k Carbine Club at Flemington ) Zouzarella - First up should find this a bit easier. (not sure how the Light Fingers can ever be considered easy) Apollo Stakes Cascadian - Meeting easier opposition here . (tell that to Kolding,Think It Over, VE , Ice Bath, Collette etc, where does it get harder?) Colette - Drops in Grade (Last start a G1 this one a G2 , quality of opposition easily make this a G1) VE - Handy galloper. Class drop helps. (LMAO) Triscay Stakes Vangelic - One for the Exotics (Last start 3rd in the Golden Eagle)
  18. He has some easy wins that could get him on the right track and will indicate which agenda he is going to follow, I'm picking we will be heading down the same track .
  19. Sorry I don't share your enthusiasm for this one, he will likely be another CEO who believes in the shortcuts the industry has been sold over the past few years.
  20. Interesting to see how he does, can surely be no worse than BS and undoubtedly will be influenced a lot by his brother.
  21. Is this why Saundry is rumoured to be in Aus, for this case? Out of his league as soon as he hit NZ, I was told by many he would save the industry , he has made it irrevocably worse !
  22. That's part of the problem , we have a myriad of persons at clubs/NZTR who think the food and beverage is more important than the core product the horse. Outside of perhaps the big 3 clubs I can't see the need or deman to provide such services , but many in the industry think they should be having Flemington Spring Carnival experiences at race meetings in NZ every week. I think its one reason the provincial clubs did well they provided the value for money experience on all fronts including food & beverage.
  23. I think alot of it comes down to where the hurt is occuring and thats at the bottom end at the moment, there are a number of the bigger outfits who are going ok (not great but ok) whereas the bottom end is really starting to drop out, the pain will come for everyone though its only a matter of time with an industry run as poorly as this has been for years...one cannot stop the inevitable.
  24. Yep and we have the same posidividdy occuring within racing and its not happening.
