  1. Yes I get a giggle out of this sort of stuff , they really are hopeless. I wonder if they post it as an alternative to the real reasons trainers like this are leaving. One has to ask the question why aren't the Pikes, Marsh, TA of this world heading across the ditch? It must be too easy for them here right?
  2. Haha yeah ... apt as you can get, hard to believe with nzracing being what it is they will probably find someone worse to replace him .
  3. Wow...Yawn, more of the same from a sport riddled with incompetence!
  4. Youv'e noticed?
  5. I was waiting for that, the point being its heading towards picnic races and many are not being catered for within the game. I know it would never fly with the governing authority as in all likelihood it would be more popular than many feature days. But isn't it at least something that could enhance or re-establish interest in the sport, not to mention the welfare benefits for many horses.
  6. Surely it would be easier to control crowds at existing venues that aren't being used? It seems a better option for creating and retaining interest than what is setup at present.
  7. That's par for the course now , they (trackside) don't really dwell on anything negative on trackside , only the racing is fun and will in time bring the to the world everlasting world peace!
  8. Ex Kiwi trainer Don Dwyer excelling in Aus at the Picnics. Why can't a Summer Picnic circuit exist here? Might give some of the Highweight riders some income in their off season and rid the establishment of the unwashed they are currently doing their best to get rid of, I'm picking it will prove more popular than most existing racing which wouldn't go down well with the establishment and may be a reason why. https://www.racing.com/videos?fbclid=IwAR3euII1r9UCM8TLCEvI1pLGWrGR6sHIPdZZ3QN-XFeUTMVdrV4iwzyhN5E#/
  9. So true, but I think NZ racing was in a bit better shape back when Bridgman was about. Agree though Richards has done a fantastic job no denying that.
  10. Part of me wonders if he wants to go to give himself a challenge, I think he is well aware of the lay of the land in NZ, HK will pose a challenge for him and he is more than capable of stepping up to that challenge imo. But like most things in racing it will take time to build , but looking at his worth ethic and temperament he looks odds on to do it.
  11. Too a degree, the difference being there isn't just one of them doing it there is about 10-15 stables if not more and none of them really have a mortgage on the Jockeys or in our case "the" Jockey.
  12. Exactly, if he was that good the ones he buys in Aus would be lighting up the world over there, more competitive level playing field over there however , they are just another stable not a behemoth amongst minnows. I thought most people in the industry realised TA success is largely based on buying high quality yearlings in volume, something no other stable in NZ seems to be able to achieve.
  13. In all honesty I'd have tipped the Stoney One so you saved your $$$
  14. You two way ahead of me I'm still backing nice names and lucky numbers!
  15. Agree classy accurate reply , I thought Rodley knew better.
  16. An absolute snorefest this year, one of the most alarming things I have seen lately is the jockeys asked in intereviews which race they would most like to win in NZ. Not a Derby, not an Oaks, nor a Cup race but the Karaka Million ....
  17. Yes wouldn't that be great. But realistically NZ has a lot more troughs, hay and P addicts than other jurisdictions so in essence would it be fair to undertake such a thing?
  18. JB ,we got Polaroids here now ya know !
  19. This BBS also by Fastnet Rock from arguably one of the best female families in the studbook. Avantage won 1 G3 in Aus & a nice enough 3rd behind Classique Legend who was on his way up, hardly something Aus studs are going to be paying $4m solely for. MB won 2 in Aus and her G1 over there was in a time honoured race during the Spring Carnival against very good horses, so one can understand the price paid for her. Perhaps the idea is to breed from BBS and thats why they went for the MM . however I'd have thought a G1 on the CV was worth more than a restricted sales race ?
  20. Someone obviously rates the NZ Group form still to pay the money they did for her and MB , from memory both only won one Group race in Aus. in MB case I think it was a G1.
  21. Those buns with a bit of ham in them... serious rip off, owners room there is also awful as unfortunately is Trenthams.
  22. Avantage
  23. Realise that, but despite the context our Group form is held in reality , you would have to think that a double G1 winning 2yo would be worth at least as much as the prizemoney of the MM?
  24. Shame as is probably the best 2yo in NZ & you would have to think would have been hard to beat in both G1 races. Seemed a strange decision to send her over for that race given the strength of 2yos in Australia.
  25. That may be true , but wouldn't you organise maintenance work around your race meetings not to occur to inhibit your race meeting?
