  1. If they are expecting to get a good mile in the Kiwi you'd expect they'd have thought about the Derby had the Kiwi not been an option . Plenty with Derby type pedigree in it also.
  2. Agree I think it will be huge at Ellerslie Saturday, can't wait for the wall to wall coverage and I've set on Hankee Alpha and Penman to Quinella the race that stops a "sales complex!"
  3. Word is the crowd will be massive and bigger than KM night, so we can only hope. There for the racing or the concert afterwards , well who knows. I'd love to go but the lawns won't mow themselves.
  4. Can we take any of the 3yo form seriously comparing it to previous seasons given the lack of depth seen in the classic races because of the NZB Kiwi race, to date and the domination of a couple of horses in their respective grades potentially being because of the lack of depth caused by the concentration on the NZB Kiwi?

outside of the 2yo race and the Breeders Stakes its a pretty disappointing programme given the hype and $$ thrown at it.
  6. Could have just manipulated the distance of the event to achieve that.
  7. Word is the 50% share was more than that for the Filly of the year, so considerable $$ involved. But Wightman has fought what appears now to be an imaginary battle with the OBC and always positioned himself as a champion of the small guy, that's been well and truly lost now.
  8. Guess we will get a monster Weigh In show for that.
  9. No hope he will do that...absolutely no hope. More of the same but with a tinge of wagering thrown in.
  10. Hard to take him seriously on any of his posts now having sold out. Yep its a decision anyone with common sense would make , but there is a real air of hypocrisy to them now.
  11. Fantastic for the Sire & most needed as they didn't sell that well at the recent sales.

I heard it leads to severe bouts of delusion , especially in old accountants.

So essentially throwing money at punters to get them on course. Fish says the slot race should have them there in droves.
  14. Great run by Savaglee ,such a long straight there a pity for obvious reasons he couldn't salute.

I'm certainly interested in watching alot of the races on the programme, just not the slot race it's a fizzer & they will overhype it beyond what it's actually capable of delivering. Any race that needs $$$ as the prime interest factor has little value in my view.

Look Chief we all know you have this thing about Wightman and you get a mini brain aneurysm every time his named is mentioned , I'm guessing he hurt you somewhere along your comprehensive journey in the sport of kings? If it helps to talk about it on here I'm all ears if you want to open up about how he hurt you and how we can work as a group to help you deal with those hurty feelings.

It's getting exciting now a full field ...wow! The real excitement however lies with Wightman, will he show on course? So many angles to this prestigious race!
  18. Very sad RIP
  19. Agree , no plan going forward just more corporate BS, no thoughts of trying to bring other tracks back online or some other initiative for use in fact just nothing - they really are a hopeless organisation.
  20. More of a move to not have to go face to face with those you've tormented than a ticket allocation issue IMHO.
  21. I think he will go far , very much what you see on TV same as off it , unlike several others.
  22. Some interesting tidbits : sends every owner a copy of the racing annual. Pays for all yearling purchases straight away. Thinks Sam Bergerson will be the next Jamie Richards I hope so he is a very likeable chap.
  23. Exactly! They have thrown $$$ around with wild abandon and all those who are allowed a say on racing media are telling everyone that everything is super good - last weeks 2 abandonments have been a bit of a wake up call/reality check for the industry. It's really not that hard to have done what they have done, no wonder they are leaving.
  24. Part of the reason the sport will head into a terminal decline MF. The next generation involved/interested isn't big enough and don't or aren't able to to do the volunteer thing, pretty much the same across most clubs orgs , but the worst will be seen in racing imho.
