  1. It certainly probably is the best thing to do for the industry when everything else is working tracks, programming, competent governing body, calendar, effective wagering model etc. But the research they probably looked at ,was from a jurisdiction that had all of that good stuff in place, they really are that silly.
  2. Couldn't they find one by one of their Stallions?
  3. Snake Oil & Salesmen. Preaching the same garbage that has the industry in the state it's currently in.
  4. Absolute load of rubbish, this very attitude is the reason the sport is in the position it is now. Nepotism in NZ racing is rife, there are certain courses around the country that could be on fire or under water and they would still be attempting to keep them going. The issue is there has never been a fair assessment and the metrics they have attempted to use ie. location/stands etc are now absolutely irrelevant.
  5. Typical of NZracing , depends who you are.
  6. They don't seem to worry about that in the SI.
  7. Exactly no plan. They have enough horses because they aren't getting a run on the allocated tracks.
  8. Exactly , the too many tracks argument makes no sense at all. Balcombe didn't give any degree of certainty around a plan to resuscitate the industry with regards to tracks, get as many as possible up to racing standards and use them or prepared to be very embarrassed again and again.
  9. Rubbish, plenty of tracks able to cope with jumpouts /trials/gallops etc but not used for racing 9or gone now because they have been left to rot). I agree there needs to be reinvestment in infrastructure and thats why you utilise everything available , also perhaps the venues chosen to continue racing on aren't the right ones. They have largely been chosen because of location and industry nepotism.
  10. Speaking up finally , time to utilise all the industry assets that we can. Enough of this land grab by stealth , they have ruined the industry.
  11. Sweeney "Things have to change" - start by calling out the fools who are running the industry!
  12. Interesting comment from Kelly Myers about riding in Saudi , supposedly much like riding in the SI.

    NZB Kiwi

Absolute snorefest of a race without PT in it. Next year and the year after no problem as we will have your TA horse in it somewhere, take your time to tell us which one we are following throughout the season , plenty of time.

    NZB Kiwi

Had there have been no scratchings(even without the scratchings it probably is) today in the Uncle Remus Stakes its arguable that race would have put together a better field than the NZB Kiwi appears to have and they are racing for $110k. As I said on another thread they have Wightman and Selangor TC to thank for adding at least a twist to the race.
  15. 3 more slots to go. Not sure what Cambridge Stud are waiting for perhaps one they bred? Wightman may have saved the race for them up till then it was looking awfully average.
  16. Unfortunately it provides some of the most boring racing also.
  17. The report can say what it likes, they are not popular with the majority of trainers and therefore will be the white elephant they were warned they would be. Never forget Rodley claiming they would be game changers (clueless mouthpieces) for the industry when Cambridge opened, they are an absolute waste of money and the $$$ would have been better spent revitalising one or many of the tracks they have deliberately mothballed.
  18. Yep and they want to sell a lot of them , utter madness not utilsing the assets we have for the good of the industry.
  19. During the running of Race 6 @ Wanganui JC Friday 21 February two horses lost their footing, After Stewards convened with Riders the decision was made to abandon the remaining 3 races due to safety concerns. Good luck with the meetings from here on in leading up to the big $$$ meeting in a couple of weeks.
  20. Exactly ride for big stable at small meet then get no ride on the big days . But like I say the Jocks put up with it.
  21. I've been saying this for some time, one stable in particular are huge fans of this . You can't help those who won't help themselves.
  22. Unfortunately they will lose the land , like a lot of smaller clubs around the country. It's disgusting how they and a lot of the smaller venues have been treated, consultation etc all a waste of time. What ever proceeds come from this the industry will find a way to waste nothing more certain.
  23. Are they talking up the harness wagering?
