  1. They won't, as things get tougher and tougher (and they will) the industry will pivot more and more towards taking care of the top, which imo will hasten the collapse of the sport in this country. The same people running the sport are the type who opposed paying a pittance to 10th or whatever & think adding 2k to stakes is something to crow about.

    AWT

100% correct , they do not listen and they do not care. They hold roadshows (something they guy who always picked up his phone was very fond of) but only for show , nothing more.

    AWT

If it doesn't suit the agenda , they don't see it!

If you don't realise they are lessons , how are you supposed to learn?
  5. It's NZTR logic for keeping numbers up in training ranks.
  6. So how does the prophecy go unfulfilled?
  7. I think it creates boring racing , well at least not as bad as AWT. But surely no one with a $ on a horse likes to punt and see their horse get back midfield or worse and know they have no chance 200m into a race and then for me it creates a why bother scenario. Of course that's not going to be the impression expert punters like Curious have, who is far better than most at ascertaining how a race is going to pan out. Be interested to know how the experts go about doing that at Ruakaka? Don't want to seem like I'm moaning as we all know Ruakaka has come along way, I just get a bit emotional at Ruakaka now the traffic cone has gone.
  8. Agree , but have to give them credit at least they now have a winning post and the traffic cone has gone back on traffic safety duty.

    AWT

Page 14 onwards might hint towards it https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/Phase 1_NZTR_VenuePlan FINAL.pdf 600 horses meaning trainers whose tracks are closed will just upsticks to Riccarton or the horses from that area will, so cannibalised growth is that what you mean?

    AWT

Yep the comments just scream " I have no idea about the industry I'm working in" - probably why he was hired.
  11. Exactly why stakes to shuffle more through the bottom to middle.

Some amazing stuff in this article An extra 12 race days on AWT at Awapuni next season! What if trainers don't take to it in their droves as expected/demanded? - I'm happy to be proven wrong but I don't think they will after 5 or 6 racemeetings. Doubling of horse numbers to over 400, what is this guy on? has he seen where the industry is heading? There is a lot of growth in the industry, did he mean on Gavelhouse sales? “It’s a beautiful camber, it’s a work of art. The drainage is really good.” - I've heard this about so many tracks in the industry , the proof is always in the pudding! https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/racing/300608122/synthetic-track-at-awapuni-racecourse-nears-completion?fbclid=IwAR3gCj9UKSqqJdInJTLUSZT72WuNqlQAynbB7japq1XYj_TkNkFeMAtnx20
  13. Here it is the most important document in NZ racing in 50 years! BS Venue Plan. How has the transition process gone to date? How has racing allowed these incompetents to make decisions like this? https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/No.26 - 29-1-19 NZTR Venue Plan 2019.pdf
  14. Agree its nothing more than a sad joke & no one will admit they were wrong or try to rectify their incompetent decision making. Venue Plan absolute disaster and will cause more and more damage to an already shrinking industry, but BS was a great guy cause he always picked up the phone .
  15. Yes I read that about Howie the mind boggles 😂
  16. Understand where youre coming from , but when they take alot of the fun out of it , well then money may be the only motivating factor.
  17. So basically we have to wait for these races to lose their status before they are appropriately funded (when I say wait thats stretching it a bit, not sure as an industry we have the time to get much more wrong) , certain they will find a way to make up races to fit their Prizemoney motives at any rate.
  18. Plenty have understood and for some time, but comprehension at the top isn't a strong point. I see the free trainers licensing as somewhat admiting the numbers are dwindling and trying to put a fire out with a water pistol. You only have to hear many in the industry label Saundry a success because he was a good guy and always picked up his phone FFS that's about all that's expected.
  19. They think they'll prosper without grass roots...they won't.
  20. Yep,that actually sums it up nicely!
  21. Agree, but they won't change no leader has the gumption to stand up and make those decisions that need to be made .
  22. You'd have to be very naive to not understand where many of his views come from. I'm predicting a bonanza for only a few & thus a more fragmented, divided and directionless industry.
  23. Like most nz racing entities they don't do "rocking the boat".
  24. LMAO , up because they are killing off all the other options in a desperate attempt to have the AWTs made to look successful.
