  1. Don’t know what you are talking about Chief. Im purely just passing on the latest update. No Christchurch case reported today & sick horse is currently at Matamata seeing what is wrong, then home to rest.
  2. Yip good to hear no cases in South today. Re the Cup saw this news about Spankem returned to NZ and being sent out to spell. Sick horse & will not be heading to Cup.
  3. While strolling on social last nite, saw a post by Garrick saying something along the lines that Purdon will be sending his horses South due to Auks sito e.g. Belle of Montana, Bad to the Bone etc for NZ CUP prep.
  4. Word on social last nite I read multiple posters including these 2 + other posters saying that there was a case in CHC, but nothing was reported at 1pm today. Your case could be different to what those peeps were talking about however.
  5. Yes, Dear Poster M you are coming down hard at Brods in what kind of appears from nowhere. And its started a full on war, with multiple other posters for and against. And Dear Brods Yes Poster M is right in what he says re you did state that Trump would win. And also I recall another argument erupt between the 2 of you in which he pulled you up on that whole Spitfire never placing, Spitfire placed. Does it matter to sometimes get things wrong. Just own it. Eg I said there was a chance that lockdown in South would end & mega race day may go ahead. Well it is not going ahead. Wrong and a shame. Anyway re that, gosh that is going to put ALL horses thru-out country back 7 days minimum. What about those horses preparing for the NZ CUP. Will it effect thru prep ... its not that far off really.
  6. Leader or ex leader white supremacist group yikes - thats not Brods But speaking of someone going nutty, Billy T K Jnr has it seems, on house arrest & not allowed to go near the internet. Actually know him & quite surprised by all his behaviour lately. Nice chap, altho he did love attention. Always had to be the STAR of the show. Perhaps all this attention has just a hold of him.
  7. Thought anyone wanting to talk about personal stories they experienced or know of could come here, to try to keep the other threads about the racing topics. Lets see, the very first lockdown, just prior had been chatting with peeps had visited about whether or not they should fly to Invercargill to attend a wedding that weekend or cancel last minute. This was before any lockdowns had been introduced to NZ. It was a Wednesday or Thursday from memory. The person didn’t want to go. We discussed worst case scenerios verse attending. We agreed perhaps they should not go. They did not go. The bride was upset/disappointed by this decision so close to wedding date. Fews days later lockdown is announced. Few days after that NZ’s first cluster was announced a WEDDING AT BLUFF. What are the odds! Yes the same wedding where the grooms father passed. Sad times for them. ****** Another Covid Story Got sent an email to watch this video on anti vaccine etc from a friend who is an anti-vac who lives in States. Worried for me as at at time Im booked into get jab. Open minded I watch video. Asked them some questions after viewing. Then decided to proceed. Rewind to early last year when Covid just started around the world. And getting a positive was stigma attached. This same person had Covid symptoms but stuck it out for 2 weeks without getting a test. They thought they had Covid but can not prove it as never tested. Approx 4 months later this person got same symptoms but worse, so went got tested & YES Covid positive. Months later they then then send me the video as post above re anti-vax. Approx 2 months after this they have been tested positive to Covid again. Maybe this is what they call Long Covid - didn’t ask if it was the same strain or not. Fact they were tested positive for Covid twice. Most likely ALL 3 times were Covid BUT this can never be verified due to the fear they had at not wanting to be tested very first time. My response to the likely 3rd time Covid. Well no sympathy there. Will you get vaccine now. Their response. YES. ****
  8. Lovely explanation there re Concentration Purposes. I like it. Think with most things there are always exceptions to rule. Eg read an article about Larry Lincoln (Sweet Lou), & he strongly disliked the whip, infact he would tuck his butt in & tail in & SLOW down lol. He was thinking no way, you mother truckers, use whip on me, I won’t run for you hahahaha. As soon as they figured this out (no whip) & how he best suits running in a race, he starting winning, got up to open grade ish at Albion, before being sold to the States.
  9. Was thinking about this. Just a question folks & thought might trigger some convo. This horse had not been whipped prior, yet still won ALL those starts prior. As the other driver pointed out, he just wasn't right. Would of excessive whip use helped him win this race, had he not jumped the rail? Yes/No? Bearing in mind the other driver said he saw the horse "just wasn't right". What are peeps thoughts on this? Or was it just that he was an exceptional horse superior than the others so didn't need the whip in most instances? Just got me wondering about the effectiveness of the whip after reading this article.
  10. Shot Crosscodes, thx for pointing that out. Nice win, punching the breeze & pulling majority of race, before taking off & leaving them in his dust. Another 1st starter for a win to add to Lous list.
  11. Karrots Kovid latest update They are now even starting to talk about South coming out, of course PENDING things of course. And Zones, as per the article Wilson suggests, for example, dividing the country into three zones with complete travel restrictions between them. We’re talking army personnel blocking roads to stop movement between zones. You could have, for example, one zone including the Coromandel, Northland and Auckland, the rest of the North Island and finally the South Island. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/300386799/covid19-nz-how-the-south-island-lockdown-could-be-lifted-earlier Opps its 3 days (Wed/Fri) days not 4 days, not sure why was thinking 4 days thats not as bad. Anyway, a simple Y or N beside runners names would be sufficient. Not sure if it makes a major difference or small difference 3 days no work, but transparency is good.
  12. After 1pm announcement & news out now saying virus is more contained than originally feared, def still a chance albeit small that Sun meet may go ahead should there be no cases in South announced this time tomorrow. All new cases are in Auckland. Could potentially see a drop to level 3 for South PENDING - BUT if lots tomorrow & South of Auckland then no. Oh a MEGA meeting that could be quite entertaining for those on Sunday that are still in Lockdown. Be good if so if somewhere was announced/reported which runners were able to get in any lite exercise jogging or nothing at all for those (Wed-Sat) 4 days.
  13. Thx Gamms, just googled & found this on the incident. In shock alright lol. The morning of that July 5 was unseasonably cold and wet, a day more akin to the late fall than the middle of the summer. Intermittent rain helped keep the crowd down to only 7,065 and turned the half-mile oval into a muddy mess. Saratoga officials decided to postpone the Haswell post time for an extra 50 minutes to allow the maintenance crew to scrape and re-sand the track, which was upgraded from “sloppy” to “good.” During the delay, Cammie Haughton noticed that Niatross had three blankets on him. “Now it’s good to keep a horse warm, especially if there’s a delay, for their muscles might tighten up,” Cammie said. “But they had three coolers on him. I thought it was rather peculiar. So did my dad.” The ensuing Haswell may have been the most peculiar harness race ever. Almost all harness tracks had a two-foot hub rail to keep horses from going into the infield. It did not work that afternoon. Niatross and his driver/trainer Clint Galbraith took the lead from longshot Danielle’s Romeo and top Saratoga driver Jean Paul Morel, and hit the quarter-mile in :30. Niatross reached the half-mile in 1:01.2, only three-fifths of a second faster than the horses in the previous race, a $3,000 conditional pace. And that was before the track was improved. Hoping for a record performance by Niatross, the crowd booed. Billy Haughton sent up Trenton Time to challenge Niatross after the half. They paced a third quarter in :28.4, reaching three-quarters in 1:30.1, with Niatross only a desperate nose in front. “I knew I could have gone by him at the three-quarters,” Haughton said. “I saw he was laboring. He just wasn’t right.” Trenton Time was going by Niatross at the head of the stretch. Galbraith, for the first time ever, used his whip on Niatross on his right side. That induced Niatross, shying away from the whip, to bear to his left. But there was no room on his left. Niatross went right over the hub rail, taking Galbraith and the sulky with him. Galbraith was hurtled to the infield ground. Niatross somehow managed to twist his body as he fell, landing and immediately bouncing back up facing the opposite direction with the sulky still attached. The incident happened right in front of Danielle’s Romeo, allowing Morel to see exactly what happened. “That horse is not used to being hit with the whip,” Morel said. “He got scared. He made a U-turn.” Miraculously, neither Galbraith nor Niatross were injured. “The colt is all right, and I’m all right,” Galbraith said. “It’s the first time I hit him. He went sideways and jumped the rail.” Then Galbraith left the paddock in tears, sitting alone on the steps of the racing office, obviously still shaken. Trenton Time had won the race by one length in 1:59.3. In the winner’s circle, Billy Haughton handled the reins to Cammie and went to console Galbraith. “Billy felt almost as bad as I did because of what happened to the horse,” Galbraith said. “We were good friends.” Years later, Galbraith still wasn’t sure what happened to Niatross that afternoon at Saratoga: “Maybe he had a touch of virus. I just don’t know what was wrong with him that day.” Just a week later, in a $25,000 elimination heat for the $1 million Meadowlands Pace, Niatross made a break for the only time in his career. He recovered to finish fourth, and since it was the fastest fourth of the eliminations, he qualified for The Meadowlands Pace final. Whatever was wrong with Niatross disappeared the following week when he captured The Meadowlands Pace. He added every single stakes left in his 3-year-old season. He never raced again, retiring to stud with a career record of 37 for 39.
  14. Yes had never heard of Niatross, until today as same Facebook poster, posted a pic of him too, saying he was the best horse he had ever seen, drawing a comparison to SBSW also in top 2. Sounds like he was a GREAT HORSE.
  15. Yes WAD! Takes out the Who is this sire, with correct answer. This was the post - (stumbled upon this group via google, its a USA group page but seems to have peeps from Down Under on page also if anyone is interested). Harness History on Facebook 35k followers "MOST HAPPY FELLA - FALL 1970 After winning a grueling three-heat battle over Columbia George in the Jug, Stanley dancer gave MHF the first week off at Lexington and simply worked him a mile. And I was there with my camera to get some photos of him during and after his training trip".
  16. Sire guessing game, for Gamms or anyone. Doing a share - the original poster of these pix on social media says took them while horse/driver working out in 1970 USA. Who is this sire?
  17. Sire list 2021 has been finalised Walner is our BOAY SIRE ON FIRE 🔥 20k Value for Money below: Sweet Lou 7.5k Always B Miki 7.5k Lazarus 7.5k Captain Crunch 6.5k Downbytheseaside 6k Lather Up $6k (wildcard) Majestic Son 5k Vincent 4.5k Terror to Love $3k
  18. Agree, They have to plan as info comes thru according & yes hope it gets off the ground for you folk in South. Sat would of been better regarding horse fitness - 1 day earlier. The smaller percentage chance that it will go ahead, from a betting perspective how would punters know who managed to get in 2-3 laps of light track work & who didn't? Yikes. Remember watching horses coming back from last time at workouts & there were some tired horses miles behind others at workouts. Don't shoot the messenger Brods re me with the latest update.
  19. Latest update, so its a 17 race mega meeting ALL races at Addington, with discussions involving TAB, HRNZ, Addington & Ashburton Clubs. https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news/addington-to-host-17-races-on-sunday/
  20. Saturday, Saturday, Saturday. Would like to see HRNZ request some Saturdays. See what the response is. The Auckland Cup is rumoured to be raced in May, but to be confirmed.
  21. Well Chief seems like for whatever reason the TAB or whoever it is has gone against Saturday. As note that the date now says Sunday for Addington. So both Ashburton and Addington say Sunday. Of course it will pend whether lockdown is extended or not. Wonder what reasoning they gave to HRNZ for this?!
  22. Absolutely Mikey NZ, distressing to see. In my travels, it hit me quickly how incredibly fortunate I’m to hold a NZ passport & English be First language. Feel we me included (yes that means you too, reading this) are quite entitled & don’t even realise it. Eg yes my general expectation was that peeps speak English to me, in THEIR country. How using the line, “Are you serious, Im from NZ”, when bizarrely - accidentally my laptop set off that bomb alarm & heavily armed peeps come out to question when exiting Israel at airport. Go out to lunch at a normal nice restaurant & have members of the active airforce looked like age 18-22 randomly there too at a table nearby, eating with their big guns randomly hanging over their seats. The Middle East is a place Iv been, seen & no desire to return.
  23. Got it, my other thought was maybe Poster M is playing Jedi Mind games with the peeps 😁
  24. Hear you there Gospel 😄, with respect tho, its part of his job to promote this sire. It took me literally 5 mins or slightly less to reply to your post with a reason. And you just never know who may read these posts. Anyway moving on, updated list 😄 Sweet Lou 7.5k Always B Miki 7.5k Downbytheseaside 6k Lazarus 7.5k Vincent 4.5k Captain Crunch 6.5k Majestic Son 5k Terror to Love $3k
