HRNZ Halfway Through Finalising New Racing Calendar!
Karrotsisback replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
This is fantastic! Love the transparency. Excellent stuff HRNZ. Love the Country Cup Gems idea. And the New pathway called the Silk Road R40 to R55 or R60 And the 40 times x $5000 breeder & owner bonuses - Yes this is great. Have idea please a 1st time owner - winner bonus for 1st time their horse wins 😁 Brods - you will love Guerins feedback, he talks aggressively about un-restricting, restricted punters. He makes good points too! -

Thx bud Unhinged for the latest update re confidential. Figured as much. Re Spellbound - Wow 200k nice offer - (but yes no doubt her offspring be worth a few bob). Nearly got that Group 1 win! So close 2nd. Was rooting for her. Maybe next time. -
Saw a brief blurb on HRNZ today about Fasika winning 1st up & being sold to Aus. So prompt me to take a look at how many Sweet Lous win quickly - (clear maidens easy/quickly), as this is something I’v noted. Going thru his winners (oldest now aged 4) here are the stats out of 61 NZ born winners on HRNZ site - actually I found 62 as My Ultimate Baxter hasn’t been added yet. List shows how long it took at horse to win 1st up to 6th Up. 58 out of 62 winners make list Woodlea Beaver won on 7th attempt, but chose not to add her as made it up to 6 starts only. (Bet some of these owners bagged a bargain, based on sales prices and sires fee). Celtic Spirit 1st Up Fasika 1st Chevron Flies 1st Darling Me 1st Im a Gigolo 1st Larry Lincoln 1st My Ultimate Chevron 1st Pinupboy 1st Spirit of St Louis 1st Sweet Belle 1st Sweet on Me 1st Who Made Who 1st Prestige Stride 1st (Oz) Sweet Deal 1st (Oz) My Ultimate Baxter (Oz) (15) Ardens Sweetheart 2nd Up Bizzie Lou 2nd Dyslexic 2nd Luella 2nd Sugar Me 2nd Sweet Treat 2nd Viva Las Vegas 2nd Virgil 2nd Classic Choice 2nd (Oz) Bradley 2nd (Oz) (10) Aladdin 3rd Up Mighty Looee 3rd Marathon Man 3rd Firefox 3rd Thee Old Bomb 3rd Blue Ivy 3rd (Oz) Sweet Maddison 3rd (Oz) Tyron Terranova 3rd (Oz) (8) Bankers Gold 4th Up Doctor Love 4th Hemsworth 4th Oroua 4th Outlaw Man 4th Sweet Affinity 4th Tiger Lou 4th Toodaloolou 4th Bells and Whistles 4th (Oz) (9) Louiethehorse 5th Up Louiethepunter 5th Sweet Lizzie 5th Joey Lincoln 5th (Oz) (4) Fabrizio 6th Up Easy Does it 6th Cantfindabettorman 6th Renegade Rose 6th (4)

Oh I was just noting any differences I have seen between Oz & NZ rating system. The ones I like are the Jnr as it encourages to get Jnrs a go. And I like the division thing where if you haven’t won stake money then you go into that division within the grade - and if you win get less points. Also like the idea if you win a race at say Camb then you get less points for a win oppose winning at say Alex. Haven’t really thought about the mare or 3 year old concession thing. On that other thread, if thinking about it more in-depth, think Brods is right. Its about coin & peeps Eg money put into industry - comes from the following mainly Sponsors, punters, owners So would need to ask the question why are they starting to dis-engage. Can it be fixed or not I suppose??? Back to subject wonder when MVB will be doing a follow up article - Titled the swabs came back negative if that was indeed the case. Im so curious about this case, due to Wigg being voted our BOAY drive of season. Better not put egg on our BOAY poster faces.
-
Taupiri isn’t one to get involved in conflict, as its just a question, Ill go & answer to the lil I know on subject. They seem to have a Jnr concession allowance in some races. E.g. if you put a Jnr on that has Jnr allowance, you deduct e.g. 2-3 points for that race. So if your R57 put a Jnr on minus 2 points, you can get into race up to R55. They also use it for pref barrier draws. So your rating becomes lower ,so you can get a better draw. Note the Jnr concession is coming to NZ too. Handicappers have announced it. Not yet the mare concession. They also have mare concessions too. And maybe even 3 year old concessions. They seem to have enough horses that say are R55 or NR55 over there, they can run Divisions same nite, it could be up to NR55 races, but might hold 3 divisions. Division 3 for runners that have won lowest stake money that season. Recall Camb doing something like this maybe 2 years ish ago. Thought was a good idea. But seemed to stop after only 2-3 times. So in this type case, seems like individual clubs could program such things. Eg in past 3-4 starts the lowest stake money or if you ran out of top 4 in past 3-4 starts, up to say R50-R57 can enter & Division 1 be for the others up R50-57. In Oz seems you only get 2-3 points added to your rating if you win NR55 Division 3, but maybe if you win Division 1 of up to NR55 you might say 4-5 points added. Division 1 would be inform runners within grade up to NR55. Might not have all this bang on, so Taupiri can correct or add anything worth a mention hehe.

Your all good. Its great to see you are back posting. Knew it was you straight off the bat hence “welcome back”. Maybe shouldn’t of outed yourself tho, (altho each to their own) I wouldn’t know you are anyway, as don’t follow the gallops to check it out. To me you are poster M - a very good poster, who sometimes gets a bit grumpy lol. But hey sometimes I get rage & peeps seem to tolerate me. Hey Iv learnt a really good strategy, if someone down votes you or replies to a post, BUT your view of that poster is low, therefore it doesn’t count, so you just ignore them as if they are not there 😁 Good to see you & Chief debating somewhat nicely, oppose full on rage with each other 👍 -
Top 8 Best are ready for quarter finals.!!!
Karrotsisback replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
Oh I see, roger that. So only $1k ish increase then. Still better than nothing. Actually thinking about this more in-depth, its not really that much coin overall in this day & age, when it gets spread out 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & all runners. Im thinking all races to be minimum of $10k all clubs, regardless of how many starters, seems much more reasonable from an owners perspective. Inflation and all. -
That Stuff article co written by MVB was back on 19 July, its 10 Aug today. Usually if its bad news a follow up or 2 would of been written by now … What's the go Taupiri any further news ? … Curious just as note that she isn’t down to drive any of her horses at Camb in Amateur race.

Well that is a shame, thought you may have been considered for Mana. Earlier in year, posted on here twice about the same, same, commentating Auckland, Camb & Mana. (While I do like White commentary - to be clear on that), however for me, it was too much of same-same for all 3. So used my voice here to say so. Then when a replacement come for Mana, it wasn’t your voice, which actually I had hoped. Never mind. You win some you lose some. Good luck with your training ranks & keep the winning Raceform tips coming.

Ill go for Laz as is only horse seen racing on screen. Was going to add another comp, (how much stake money will each club raise there minimum stake to ... )? Did some checking & note that Camb looks to have already started. Looking at Thurs races new season minimum stake is 9k (excluded Amateurs). Whereas last season it was 7k ish. Excellent stuff Camb brownie points there. So when will the others follow ... ? And by how much ... ? My guess Manawatu will follow suit & raise to $9k too minimum stake, looks like they have been racing for $8k ish minimum. -

Im not overly wanting to get involved in this debate. Due to the sentence in bold. So this is all Ill input on the matter. Some things Iv read or watched videos on in the past 1-2 months ish. Are below … * Hasn’t there been a stake increase announced? Would this not go out to clubs to distribute … ? * Hasn’t there been an announcement of handicapping changes. Perhaps more might follow … ? * Aren’t they having those working focus groups involving clubs/trainers/owners/breeders all brainstorming & coming up with real hard hitting solutions. e.g. all open class racing will be done in 1 region then it moves to next region (North/South/Deep South). And all trainers with horses that grade are being highly encouraged to play the game so it works. Unhinged was sitting at a table I saw guess representing owners. Maybe he has some inside info. (Altho in saying that he may not be able to share atm). Curious prob like most to see what these changes are. Hopefully they are announced soon. Now that you are back M, no saying you will play the selections game, then dart off & not return til its over lol. -
Speaking of commentators know we all have our favourites & our likes & dislikes. For me, how good is the Albion Park commentator. So much flair. Noticed his hip calls when recently watching Kiwis Rising Sun etc. Taking a peak at 2 replays Sat nite to get some examples “Spicy sectionals down the back” “Its all over red rover” “He’s running time, Crunch time” “Upside down sectionals going down the back” “He’s starting to loom - danger” “Colt 31 plays the Game of follow the Leader” “He catches the cover of Uncle George” “They are back-straight bound” “As they push towards that far turn” “Alta Oralando nailed Colt 31” Re Teaz prob should of said informative to be more clear. Goes thru horses siblings etc the good performing ones or if dam was a good performer &/or sire. All of which I find interesting. Sometimes who owns it/trains/drivers etc. Even sometimes mentions where a horse was brought from or maybe an interesting fact about it. Find this more entertaining when watching workout/trial videos than, This horse is in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th position & rinse/repeat etc.
-
Hi there Teaz, Really digging your workout calls atm. Its a like lil history lesson. Off subject a bit but just thought worth a mention 👍 Keep up the good work 😃
-
Yes she did. Really well. Haha was actually really good at sport. Was nom-ed for sportsperson of year at high school, but it went to someone who went on to become a pro rugby player international level. Over the hill now! BUT a very young family member said to me the other day, "how do you get to go to Olympics"? I replied saying, "you have to qualify". They replied saying "I want to play in the Olympics". I was like "what sport", they replied "soccer". So I went & watched them play soccer/football yesterday, to assess hehe. Will try & keep them motivated towards their future goal 👏😃

Fun stuff Gamms, I dear say, Olympics is next level to Commonwealth, still sounds like you & kids had a ball of fun. And yes Gamms saw that re BNE. Fab times ahead! NZ have done amazing, coming in 4th per capita & 12th on medal count so far. Canada has pipped us this time, 1 silver ahead of us to take 11th spot. We pipped them last Olympics to take 19th spot, they were 20th. See an article on Ko that a journo asked her if she is taking medals off South Korea. She answered it superbly. Adding she was proud to bring a medal home for NZ. Remember watching her at Rio & we ran ahead a few holes & planted the black Silver Fern flag up on barrier thing right behind the hole so when she walked down towards it she would see it. To let her know there was NZ support there! As we were completely over-ridden by South Koreans supporters in a wave of red (there supporting eventual South Korean winner). There were so few of us Kiwis there that day. In hindsight, no one much else would have known what that flag was, but she did. (Along with her family). I note that she wore on her last day yesterday, a black cap with NZ on the side & the fern on front. Was that a special shout out to Karrots and co & all the Kiwi supporters ?? hehe So good to see her back in form again.

Welcome back -
Risk verse reward, worst case scenario for me being pulled into HRNZ & made an example of. Reward - no reward for posting. Other than some entertainment with others that share a common hobby/interest. Plus don’t want to disrespect the rule. Anyway Im allowed to atm. Golly after all of that! The big farewell lol. Anyway moving on. Closing ceremony is on tonight. I went to the closing ceremony at Rio. It was amazing. Some tips for anyone that may in future attend the games. 1. If you don’t have tickets to certain events thats fine, people turn up near the gates & try to sell their tickets, e.g. if their team didn’t make the semi’s but your team did unexpectingly, then you can head along & pick up a ticket and at a discount too usually. (Im not sure if this is legal however it happens) lol 2. If you enjoy having the odd drink socially, its so high adrenaline & action packed & dashing from event to event, that you don’t take a single drop of alcohol the entire time you are there. You are amongst so many other supporters from so many other countries of the world. So many different languages flying around around you. Everyone is just so excited. The atmosphere is electrical. 3. The NZ team due to us being a smaller nation the athletic are more accessible. Very lucky we are like that! (On my flight B Kendall was sitting in next row to me). There is a Team NZ house that is great to go into. I also meet L Ko’s family, her sister thanked me & co for attending 1 of her rounds. (Due to most other kiwi supporters being at the water sport that same day). 4. When you go sightseeing you bump into & walk around with athletics from all over the world, as they have finished up & also sightseeing. 5. Felt really safe as pretty much every 100 metres there were armed soldiers with those big as guns, slapped over there soliders. Like everywhere train stations, along the beach & thru the city. Its a 1 in a million experience, if you enjoy rooting for your country & are into sport at world class level. Oh it brings back great memories pre-covid. Putting out to the universe that the world will return to normal next year ... 🙏

NZ Metro Nominations very poor for Sunday 18 July.
Karrotsisback replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Well Thurs nite it was actually hard to see R8 on Rough & Ready there Brods, even I was squinting to try to see, had mud on it. Anyway looked like the same helmet she had on the blue one with a horsey pic above it. If you google it her name with helmet & take a look it shows clearly. But anyways moving on 😄 PS I don't want to post the pic here as she might not want that & no sorry no idea why the nickname. -

Oh yes this was the link I recommended sharing & then shared on another thread. Good idea Chief to share it properly so folk can read in full. There is also another good one too on Lincoln Farms page, about the handicapping system , interviews a couple of trainers & their thoughts about it. https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/handicapping-changes-only-tinkering-some-major-holes-in-the-system-not-addressed/ I keep an eye on that page, the writer often comes up with interesting stories. And Green does crack me up to with his choice of lingo when he's interviewed from time to time. -
Have news to share but its about Olympics not racing. We are 4th in world per capita as per link https://medalspercapita.com 1st San Marino takes 1 in every 11,310 to medal 2nd Bermuda. “ “ 63,918 3rd Grenada “ “ 112,523 4th NZ “ “ 252,801 Forgot to mention the Jnrs woman are kicking butt, winning the championships comp 4 years on end! Back to Olympics Womans rugby took Gold. K Gowler/ G Prendergast took Gold E Twigg also Gold L Carrington winning 3 Golds at Tokyo & has now won NZ’s most Olympic medals ever (she is Maori woman too, didn’t realise this until the other day). Remember hooting & cheering with her & a handful of other kiwis at Rio, we were all in the stadium close to one another, when Walsh won his bronze shot put & was doing victory lap around stadium with the 2 Americans. The very same 3 finished 1st, 2nd 3rd again this year too. Anyway we all ran down to same area at front of stand, waved, yelled & put the Kiwi flag out. So the 3 of them came over 😄 If anyone ever gets the chance to go to Olympics to watch, highly recommend it, its the best experience ever. Back to story, so that is 6 of our 7 Gold medals won by females. L Ko took the bronze today. Kiwi sportswoman are slaying it. Ps oh and I'm allowed to post currently still after all of that, go figure. No social media law has come in properly yet.

Hi Taupiri, Nice to hear from you, Im off to bed now, just in a scrap with Ranga haha. Not sure why I like Ranga, but bring it Ranga, bring it. Thought you might have the ins and outs re this case. Hmm most interesting. Its all a bit weird I thought and I was initially bitterly disappointed at first reaction. I mean good grief you and me, had really hummed her up on here as others had re her being our best driver and all. So that would of really let the team down. Well I do hope that no wrong doings have gone on. I shall stay objective and not get all subjective here. So shall step aside and await results. Hoping for the best.
-
This reply shows me you have no idea. Still waiting for a non-joke type reply mate. Bring it.
-
And Ranga while you are at it, please would you list those countries that you have lived in that are not e.g. the norm Aus, UK etc for more than 1 year too. You missed that bit.
