Listened to an interview & J Dunn answered the question of which horse would be best to punt on first starting up out of the 3 - prior the draw coming out & he surprisingly said in his opinion Heisenburg. Yikes that sounds cheap & nasty. So other points you could potentially also pop into proposal: * That you were encouraged to put a proposal in by peers & or racing enthusiasts, fans etc. * In an effort to regain traction back in CD racing, you would also be willing to post on your stables Facebook page about every meeting they have, this would include posting info about the horse that you have nom-ed. (you do this anyway lol - got to point this out). * If you have a truck, maybe you could offer spaces within it, to take other horses down. They would have to pay, like a car pooling type thing, but this be a horse truck pooling & they would need to get their horse to yours. That way it helps with horse numbers for Mana & also helps cover cost for you getting down, therefore you don’t need to charge TAB for gas costs. How can they say no, when they would be saving on gas costs BUT wait for it, bonus get a commentator on site! There might be hobby trainers or smaller trainers that would send horses, BUT don’t want to go as too far or hobby trainers can’t go due to work commitments or even bigger trainers that have just 1 horse but don’t want to pay full transport costs. Could end up being a win-win situation. Mana club would appreciate it too, the support. Charge a fee that is reasonable for ALL including you & your staff taking these horses down & getting them ready too. Lol, signing up for a lot more. But hey just do it for 1 season & could have a max of say 4. Get yourself back as commentator. Someone else can take up the role as horse truck pooler to Mana if its a hit. Think this is a fab idea/proposal & 1 the TAB would be silly to refuse. Helping with propping up fields by nominating a horse & or assisting with transportation for others down, TAB Form selections, promoting Mana meeting via social media + commentating). Phew what a mouth-full! Have a think about what you would be able & willing to do out of the above suggestions & perhaps with your wife, come up with a proposal for TAB. And Good Luck!

I Karrots of BOAY, shall put forth a nom for Teaz to be Commentator for Manawatu season 21/22 on a trial basis for the 12 meetings, which starts Tues 26th Oct 2021 thru to 31 March 2022. Brods 2nds the motion. Reason - enthusiastic, committed, passionate, experienced, knowledgable, won’t have to travel from an area such as Auckland which could be in lockdown, is a trainer so could be traveling there anyway. (This would cut out a travel payment cost). Also adds a bit of flavour to the otherwise boring workouts/trials commentating. * Teaz have you thought about writing a proposal to TAB just to state your availability. Have noticed some that were let go have been reinstated or partly so. Could add to your proposal that you would be happy to do Form guide also as part of agreement for a specific price BUT you would not charge a travel cost as you could also state your support for the meeting, saying you will nom a minimum of 1 runner per Mana meeting. This would be something that is unique & none of the other commentators could do right … ? Even if you were to say write in & they say no, will just be in the same position as you are in now, BUT at least you tried. You never know if your proposal is more financially beneficial to them & also your support to Mana & they see this they might go for a trial basis. Give them something the others are not.

So in other words are you staying its kind of not a true open public forum, but one that runs to an agenda or narrative the suits whoever runs it? It was/is their business model plan to target the top end. Top stakes earnings & age group racing. Remember thinking that, then heard a You Tube video & N Rass confirmed it. (Smart if you have the resources & a way to make good $). Something else I notice was as soon as a horse was not the top or very close to it or not anymore, it didn’t get many chances & would get shipped off to Oz or changed stables. Was this why it seemed like horses weren’t performing? When actually it had already been discovered that the horse was not up to the very top. Agree with Brods its not good for industry (in saying that too its quite good to have someone at the top to compete against, strive for). But not at the level of dominance that this past tense was IF these stats are accurate. The industry has hundreds of trainers & thousands of owners. Moving forward the new path into the future hopefully won't be ALL about 1 stable collecting the MAJORITY of $ for themselves & a select few.

The thing Iv noticed with for e.g. TAB, HRNZ & ATC & please anyone correct me if Im wrong, but those that are high up and the highest up, do not own the company or whatever it is they are called. They are merely employees so to speak. Remember learning the difference between a business owner & an employee - these 2 words 1. Responsibility 2. Liability A CEO or General Manager while maybe high up within this company, if they hold no ownership or shares in company, then the bottom line for them is ONLY Responsibility. This enables them to just walk away, mostly unscathed should anything go wrong. Other than a dent in their CV. Whereas Liability as a shop owner, or car dealership owner, or finance company or any business owner, even trainers that run their own business, the buck Liability STOPS with them. Their business goes under, they go with it. Meaning lose money etc. Until this changes, they can just keep walking away, mistake after mistake. Not their money after all.
