Tip for BOAY posters if you go to Wailea 4 Seasons for example where the show is filmed or any or the other hotels along the Wailea boardwalk, you can go for lunch or dinner, no need to stay the nite, just take a towel same colour as the hotel towels (used to be white & blue) then just go hang out by the pool, go for a nice swim in pool hehe 😄 Anyway, Back to horsey talk. Isn’t Woodlands like just a hobby for them, their main thing is cows or something? Iv felt like sires are too much. That is why have focused on value for money BOAY list. The majority, those which make up the bottom of the pyramid, which is R40-R60 average horses make up 60% + this includes from ALL sires. Regardless of sire fee. Yes, realise that there is the odd horse that is brought at a high price at sales goes on with it & makes more than amount paid & trained etc. Eg Akuta most likely will be an example if not already. But how many more? Whats the percentage? While yes, those odd breeders that make big coin from those odd high price ones its great for them, but overall, would pulling in sires fees for breeders be a better longer term strategy? How could that be put in place? There is already a bulk order thing I think and maybe a semen thing or something 20% discount, which makes it more variable. Not saying Im right, just some thoughts off top of head. Come in Breeders 😄

Also reading today HRNZ they have Created a NEW position called Breeding Manager, to try to increase foal numbers. Think this is a positive idea, at least worth a try. What are your thoughts WAD or Poster M or anyone else? Think you are both breeders or have a passion for it. Any tips or ideas on how to get numbers back up? Good news that breeders have a direct breeders line into HRNZ now?

This is true, However at this present/current/time as we speak, Harness racing is allowed to race at Level 3.

Was thinking Gamms after checking out Breckons yearling draft, gee can still remember the Guessing Game pick how much the highest lot will go for which doesn’t seem like that long ago! Time flying … ? Was $315k, be interesting to see if its surpassed or not … Read about a Lou horse that had won in States, don’t recall name, anyway they were saying how it cost only $50k they brought its 1/2 bro perhaps a year or 2 earlier ish for a whopping $800k (by SBSW). Yet the $50k has turned out to be the better buy at this stage. What caught my eye from article was the whopping USD800k! Didn’t realise harness horses went for that much. (sire exception).

These articles are 17 Mega meeting Addington article & also the Waiting Game article. That is my source. Unhinged perhaps in the know. Feel free to come in. HRNZ site right or wrong in stating racing can go ahead at level 3 or less?

It reads lets Play a Game, Go home, Stay Home, Tag your it. YES Chief. That was what I meant re out of lockdown South & mega meeting go ahead. Didnt word it well, was meaning out of full lockdown. They planned Mega meeting if South went to level 3! Considering Butchers who supply meat have to shut in level 4, (that really sux for them), HRNZ has negotiated well to get a pass for light work, animal care, grooming, handling for animal welfare reasons level 4.
