More RIB incompetence, did Opie get screwed or was it Billy?
Thomass replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
Too true Just an update to this, after Pinn was charged yet again last week, this time the December CR charge in Oz WAS included. To summarise, originally Opee and Billy both had 6 CR charges as it turns out with Opee getting screwed by an extra days suspension and Billy receiving a day less. So poor Opee really did get screwed, boo hoo -
So forget moi sending a 'please explain' to the RIB how they FAILED to check Te Akau's INSPIRED BY ART retaining BLINKERS ON when punters were told they'd be OFF first up In a far more serious slice of 'one stipe not knowing what the others are doing' incompetence We had Mark Davidson (a very good stipe BTW) failing to include Pinns 2 careless Riding charges in Oz as an aggravating feature over a 12 month period In fact he got a day off for his "very good record' Meanwhile did Opie get screwed by Oatham when he included his one CR charge in Oz to have 6 in a 12 month period to which he got tagged "aggravating" and an extra days suspension So what is it RIB? Did Opie get screwed or was it Billy? Someone sure as hell got screwed by @ 3-4K

Here we go again!! Horse slips in second at Te Rapa!
Thomass replied to Trojan's topic in Galloping Chat
You get the impression from how he talks that ANY slip no matter how minor is a major After the Ist he told Poops he would've gone out in the next race and galloped over the slippage to assess how bad it was Australian tracks have very similar abandonments at this time of the year as well so lets not believe it's solely a NZ problem i dont recall Ellerslie having any slip issues when they had a solid concrete ensconced rail while racing all year around? Also this crazy idea of moving a rail out 3m then back to True and believing we'll get 'fair racing' and there will be no bias needs to stop now -
So Waller on the Guerin Report He nom'd The Whip as THE biggest issue (as did his mate Messara) going forward followed by traceability, birth to death The obvious problem here is the his 'boss' Vacuous Vlandys "the whip doesn't hurt" 'move on' narrative Besides the fact Racing Australia has the impossible task of obtaining consensus from disparate Ozzie states like SA's "bash the shit out of them" and Racing Vic's "we're trying to do the best for the industry" Waller needs to practise what he preaches by instructing jockeys like JMackSmack to simply stop bashing horses from his stable, over 23 times up the straight in a recent G1 bashathon However with Gen Z turning up in their 1000's at the Everest, obviously the future generation don't really give a shit about welfare and Waller's pissing into the wind?? Or did they turn up to drink piss and sing about Caroline sans horses?

Alors, Leith Innes has the ear of the jockey room and he named Sabrina as the culprit to Poops on Trackside Wazza was on the witch and fast out onto the track pointing to the slip with Bart Cowan looking on Recently back from an extended holiday he's probably telling Butch "it's not my fault" When you have Wizards, Witches and Butchers in the mix it's never going to end well I'm afraid -
They might as well race on that gawd awful black tar sealed carpark! WTF thought it was a good idea 'sighting' an eyesore like that in front of the King Charles stand?

Good on you. So you're a horseman who thought the strips either looked flash?? Or as Jelly Williams thinks wrt Blinkers - "performance improvement after I assessed my horse's needs" Seriously though it's as basic as ipso facto gets isn't it? 6% less energy expenditure = better performance when the whips are cracking. As long as they haven't travelled 3 wide open 'in transit'!! -

oh yes definitely muddled . . Knew I'd seen it somewhere!! The Flair website of course . . maybe a bias . . but the developer was a Vet and you know how straight they are . . @7% more accurate? So on an investment I've Id'd as 10 units . . I'm trusting Jelly Williams training ability if he thinks certain new gear will improve an already in form horse . . as identified by moi . . new bet 11 units! The spring-like action in FLAIR Strips supports the soft tissues over the nasal passages (the narrowest part of the upper airway) to reduce the tissue collapse that occurs in all horses during exercise, making it easier to breathe in oxygen. Reduce Fatigue By reducing resistance to airflow to make breathing easier, horses don’t tire as easily so they can work longer and harder. Conserve Energy Horses wearing FLAIR Strips have been shown to exert 5-6% less energy during intensive exercise. Recover Faster When horses’ nasal passages are supported during the cool-down phase of recovery, they are able to move air more easily to cool down and recover quicker. Reduce Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) FLAIR Strips reduce resistance to breathing, which puts less stress on the fragile pulmonary blood vessels in the lungs, resulting in fewer ruptured pulmonary blood vessels. -

Average on an average horse probably . . So Wodger James, Te Akau, Jelly Williams . . are all wrong when quoted on trackside over the last few months "blinkers made a big difference" -

Kansas State University College of Veterinary medicine Results showed that the nasal strip did improve the airway, leading to reduced lung damage. "The nasal strip reduces bleeding, reduces the secondary infections that can damage the lung afterward and also may help facilitate the horse to perform better," Poole said. The researchers say the nasal strip may improve performance because it reduces fatigue. -
Sorry did I say re signed? That should read RESIGNED. Why after such a short time one may ask? Was he out of his depth?? Transparency issues?? So many ex cops there with so little knowledge of the racing industry.

How does one quantify? Jockey/trainer feedback from knowing the individual . . times . . .dropping the whip and observing the undoubted joy the horse showed when bounding away with gay abandon?? -
So the adjudicative boffins were OUTRAGED . . . Rarely does a Rider strike their mount so many times in a race. On that basis, the Adjudicative Committee has assessed the 12 strikes as placing Mr Hailey at the high end of culpability. In addition, it is of concern that Mr Hailey breached this Rule at the Auckland Meeting 7 days ago and he does not appear to have learnt any lessons from that breach. Also, his mount, on this occasion, won the race. For these combined factors, there must be an uplift applied to the 5 day suspension starting point. Would Hailey have been so brazen in his cheating if a DQ option was actioned? Ask yourself

Onya Kevvy. . . I got on at 10's after HE'S PLATINIUM was surprisingly bet in. . . That's the general thrust of the thread though. . . that Blinkers took over and she was loving galloping for the pure love of it. . . or 'hooning" as Sammy Spratt says -
