Perfect! And G(i) A rider must place both hands back on the reins/wither between strikes Which, in NZTR's time of expediency re @Opie and @Te Akau complaining they were screwed Separating 'consecutive' and 'counting' strikes into different categories! The REIN rule would also catch out the likes of Sam Spratt, Nabber, Joe Doyle, et el who leave their whips flailing and continuously striking on the pretense they're 'showing the whip'
-
Pretty clear NZTR's idea of "excessive" doesn't tally with international norms though Here jockeys can slip in @ 13 to 14 strikes when following the 5 before 100M and non consecutive after that France 4 and Brits 6 Then this rubbish "appropriately" updated is finger in the air stuff and ignores DQ's As for "data loggers and accelerometers" pfft, what happened to that tech? NZTR will: Ensure that the general provisions and specific guidelines of the whip rule are appropriately updated and can be consistently interpreted and enforced Ensure continued guidance and training, particularly for apprentices, on ‘hands and heels’ riding skills to minimise an over-reliance on whip use Investigate the availability and practical use of new technology such as whips with data loggers and accelerometers, to provide objective data on whip use during racing."

It's on the trainers website https://www.nztrainers.co.nz/ many gems to be discovered there including 'how to handle anti racing types and shut them up even though they might have a bloody good point' https://kickup.com.au/ "Whips are made of padded foam and are not designed to inflict pain but to make a ‘popping’ sound on impact with the horse’s rump. Jockeys must conform to tight regulations on whip use, or they face harsh fines and bans. With public perception in mind, reform is ongoing and regulations are getting stricter each year." Haha, a popping sound?? have they seen Jake Bayliss wrecking havoc on many a flank??

So 6-7 widths ya think? If Cara had the BO off would he have seen the Liverpool kiss coming and responded in kind? So many questions but one thing's clear, Dummy got screwed like the punters he screwed when giving them the swerve many moons ago It's a wonder he turned up for the interview he's so shy now days

So the 'report' is in and it makes for an INCOMPETENT read https://loveracing.nz/RaceInfo/53170/8/Race-Detail.aspx Look at the head on and judge for yourself before reading the fake news 'report' Prior to hearing submissions from the respective parties, the Stewards showed all available race films of the alleged incident and identified the runners. There was no rear view, which is often most useful. pfft, NO REAR VIEW CARIGNAN and JACKAROO were racing side by side down the home straight in a manner Mr Goodwin described as a “dog-fight”. Rubbish, C came from 1 1/2L behind down the straight... FASTEST 800, 600, 400, 200M sectionals of the race CARIGNAN was to the outside of JACKAROO and may have got slightly ahead. The side-on film showed that just prior to the finish, CARIGNAN changed stride, which was more than likely due to JACKAROO turning its head and attempting to bite. Definitely ahead, with Lilly's head advanced and visually looking to go on by, before the bite The head-on film showed the reason JACKAROO turned, and appeared to bite, was that CARIGNAN rolled in and made contact with JACKAROO. Mr Goodwin said this was a very unusual situation and a difficult decision to call. Ms Sutherland said prior to the incident, JACKAROO had moved outwards, but she admitted she had rolled inwards onto CARIGNAN. With a clear run, she thought she would have won the race. Mr Myers believed that JACKAROO had grabbed the bridle of CARIGNAN, causing him to change stride. At this point Lilly & Dummy should've pointed out JACKAROO veered out @5 widths down the straight And as John Oatham has stated 'no contact has to occur for interference to have taken place" The Rider of JACKAROO, Ms Hercock, agreed that there had been a dogfight down the straight between the two horses and explained how she was unable to use her whip, due to CARIGNAN rolling in on her horse, with about 25m to go. Poor JACKAROO, jock missed one whip strike in the last 25m after dictating C's line for the entire straight Mr Andrew explained that JACKAROO’s bridle had a cross-over noseband, which made it impossible for the horse to open its mouth and bite. He said while it turned towards the other horse, its mouth was closed and he believed that JACKAROO lost more momentum in the incident, than CARIGNAN. Ms Hercock agreed that her horse did not bite the bridle of the other horse. Who cares if it was a bite, the point being the interference sent C off stride while advanced and then behind after the attack Reasons for Decision In accordance with the requirements of the Protest Rule, the Adjudicative Committee must firstly establish that interference occurred; and secondly, if interference is established, the horse interfered with would have beaten the other runner, had such interference not occurred. After reviewing video footage and hearing submissions, the Adjudicative Committee observed that both horses deviated slightly from a straight line at different points in the home straight, prior to the incident. Absolute garbage, 5 widths is NOT slight with almost all of the interference caused by J This is not uncommon in racing and did not constitute interference. Just prior to the incident, there was adequate space between the two horses. However, while JACKAROO maintained a straight line, Pfft, J maintained a straightish line for only 25M up the entire straight! CARIGNAN rolled inward, making contact with JACKAROO. JACKAROO reacted by turning its head towards CARIGNAN, appearing to give a warning nip approximately 4 strides from the finish. Mr Andrew provided evidence that JACKAROO was wearing a crossover noseband, preventing it from opening its mouth fully. Video evidence supported that JACKAROO attempted to nip CARIGNAN when its space was invaded, but did not actually bite the face or grab CARIGNAN’s bridle. Biting/ nip irrelevant Given the mutual involvement of both horses in the incident—CARIGNAN’s inward movement preventing Ms Hercock from using the whip, and JACKAROO’s retaliation causing CARIGNAN to change stride—it is not clear that either horse was significantly disadvantaged to the extent that it affected the finishing order. More garbage, 1 strike v carting C out 5 widths down the straight while biting and behind C at the time Considering the complexity and unusual nature of the incident, as noted by Mr Goodwin, the Adjudicative Committee concluded that there were insufficient grounds to justify altering the original race result. Vastly experienced Goodwin FAILS to point out the bleedin' obvious of @ a 5 width drift and his boss's ruling "no contact needs to be made for interference to occur" Fastest 8,6,4,200M splits, comes 1 1/2L from behind, hits the lead and still loses A minor race but this rubbish could happen in vital black type racing without appeal

Let it go You're looking like an absolute tool, fool As per Wexford's ebullience, after showing outstanding improvement in training with BO, she delivered big time to the astonishment of even experienced commentators.

SETHITO (Craig Grylls, barrier 6) will line up in race 6 at 3.37pm. She's been freshened since her first two and we've seen a vast improvement in her training with the addition of blinkers. She's a lot more focused heading into today and we believe she's our best winning chance of the day.

So nothing about DQ's for cheating. NZTR have once again pulled the EXPEDIENT rabbit out of the bag. Lazy, disgraceful 'governing' "PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES OF RACING NZTR seeks comment on the following proposed amendments to the Rules of Racing. Should you wish to make any comments or provide any other feedback please do so in writing to colin.hall@nztr.co.nz. on or before 25th November 2024. Words to be added are in bold and underlined. Words to be deleted are struck through. WHIP USE. Background: The International Agreement on Breeding, Racing and Wagering contains a number of prohibitions on the use of the whip by riders in Flat and Jumps races. Most of these prohibitions are contained in Rule 638(3)(f). In order to align the Rules with the International Agreement it is proposed that Rule 638(3)(f) be amended as follows: (f) Without limiting the generality of subrule 638(3)(e), in a Flat Race or Jumping Race, a Trial (including jump-outs and/or tests for certification purposes) a Rider must not use his or her whip: (i) forward of the Rider’s horse’s shoulder or in the vicinity of its head; or (ii) using an action that raises the Rider’s arm above shoulder height; or (iii) when the Rider’s horse is out of contention of winning or otherwise finishing in the first five placings; or (iv) when the Rider’s horse is showing no response; or (v) after passing the winning post; or (vi) in a manner that causes a welt and/or injury to the Rider’s horse; or (vii) when the Rider’s horse is clearly winning; or (viii) when the Rider’s horse has no reasonable prospect of improving or losing its position; or (ix) in a manner where the seam of the flap is the point of contact with the horse, unless the Rider satisfies the Stewards that that was neither deliberate nor reckless, or (x) on the flank of the Rider’s horse; or (xi) forward of the Rider’s saddle whilst the whip is held in the forehand position.

Heard of poetic license? Look it up The point is NZTR allow outrageous cheating, usually in Black Type racing where trainers/jockeys are bursting their foo foo valves for possible cheating owners as well What's to stop a determined breeder to issue instructions to whoever "do ALL you can to win, knock ANYTHING over, beat the shit out of it" ..and I'll look after you post fine and suspension" ...because as sure as eggs are eggs we CANT LOSE it in the room" Other countries? of course not...DQ's and RIGHTLY so

So at Al Shah Rock's big red birthday bash, Sam O'Malley gets a rocking with race day Veterinary Rabecca McKenzie "About 6.00pm Mr O’Malley came and joined Ms McKenzie at her table. He aggressively advised he wished to speak with her about her race day decision the previous day. She responded this was not the right time or place, but Mr O’Malley continued to make the following comments: I’ve been a trainer and jockey for years you don’t know what you are talking about. How long have you been around horses? You’re a s..t vet. Where are the Jim Robins of the world? You’re useless. I have a hearing issue, which is why I never stopped. You have ruined my horse’s preparation. Despite being asked multiple times to stop and being advised this was not the time or the place Mr O’Malley continued to aggressively berate the vet and her professional decision making. The situation was concluded when a fellow trainer intervened." It never pays to drink and insult RIB pros just trying to do their jobs Lucky just to be fined 6 Hundy

andicapper’s Blog 18/11 The New Zealand Cup carnival provides the perfect finale to New Zealand’s spring racing. The 3-day, Group 1 carnival is unique, and fits ideally on the back of Melbourne Cup week. It is a busy racing week, with 9 meetings programmed across the country, and invariably presents numerous re-ratings of interest. We touch on Open race winners below. Feature Open race winner ratings: Bella Waters Gartshore Tauranga Stakes, Group 2, $150k 98 Mehzebeen Martin Collins NZ Cup, Group 3, $400k 97 Kopua TAB Mile, Group 3, $250k 96 Mystic Park Lindauer Stewards, Listed, $140k 95 Bella Waters entered the Tauranga Stakes as a rating 84 horse and risked a large re-rating for a top 4 finish - given she was competing at WFA against a 105-rated horse, Ladie’s Man, and other high-rating horses at the level weights. In winning she beat two rating 98 horses, Pearl Of Alsace and Mali Ston, in a tight finish. Given the narrow margins, and the relative weights, a re-rating to 98 (+14) was appropriate. Any less of a re-rating would have her receiving weight at their next meeting under handicap conditions, which is not equitable. The risk and benefits of running a progressive horse in a race under these conditions is a balancing act. No doubt Cambridge Stud factored these, and the calculated risk has paid dividends with Bella Waters now a Group-2 winning mare. In terms of feedback, Kopua was the most contentious re-rating of the week with his 9-point re-rating for the TAB Mile win. The entry of Perfect Scenario (rating 107) pushed the majority of field to 53kgs and out of the handicap. Kopua was 6 points out of the handicap (ie. In a precise handicap he would have carried 50kgs). To give Kopua a re-rating 6 points or less for the win would see the entire field facing him again at exactly the same weights set-up. Kopua was given 3 points for the win, and 6 points for the out of handicaps adjustment. In simple terms, had the race been run again Kopua would carry 54.5kgs. Mehzebeen and Mystic Park were standard feature race re-ratings of 5 points, given no issues with out of handicap. Previously, Mehzebeen had attracted an 8-point re-rating on Day 1 for an out of the handicap win in the Metropolitan Trophy (Listed). In that race also, Beavertown Boy was re-rated 7 points for his 2nd placing, moving him 1kg below the winner at that point in time.

of course it was a figurative bite its clear on the video nasty Lilly, Dummy and the owners got screwed Let's see the 'adjudicative' report but I'm betting me left Dummy told Lilly to stop reporting the truth "we dont want to be seen as sore losers" And they pleaded the 5th

I saw the 'consultation' proposal they usually send out to trainers...was that the one you put up? When Matthew Cameron outrageously cheated in the Sistema 2 years ago Guerin had Jammie Richards on who was asked in roundabout terms "does that relly relly annoy the f*** out of you getting beaten by a downright cheat and severely compromising the INTEGRITY of G1 Black Type"?? Jammie, not wanting to be a 'sore loser' "I just get out of bed every morning and brush me teeth" Guerin contacted NZTR he was that ropable "when tf are you going to change the rules as per International norms"? NZTR "na we're not"! F***witz

So no surprises Kelly Myers resorts to cheating on her fav. owners horse BEAVERTOWN BOY !0 strikes before the 100M including consecutive strides where 5's allowed and deserves a DQ for that. Would never have won but in other enlightened jurisdictions it doesn't matter Alarmingly NZTR have made ZERO mention of having a DQ option in their new whip rulings Cheating in Black Type racing will continue on then. NZTR Lovesracing HATES integrity

if you have questions best to contact Bruce.Sherwin@nztr.co.nz or ring him Very open and honest wantint to do the best for horses and the industry Also writes a handicapping Blog on NZTR's website which can also help explain matters

Absolute TRAVESTY! Lilly came from well behind and the side on shows her just moving ahead and forward of Hercock before the attack. Takes a nip and Cara with BO didn't see it coming but felt the ATTACK losing momentum I'm picking Dummy and Lilly refused to protest and that's why it was a Stewards instigated one That doesn't help at all in coming to the correct decision

JACKAROO has to go! Just as CARIGNAN goes up to w in the Jacka takes a bite out of the cheek and Cara gives up Gonnnnne

BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Thomass replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
I found it an interesting foot note to Mr B's form improvement, that's all Of course it's not a 'system' per se although I use BO sometimes to invest on ID'd form horses who're under the radar...i.e caught wide, checked et el but still running well to match other in that class, of course at value -
Why don't they AI the 'handicapping' Would we hear trainers of 'up and comers' complaining they were giving away weight to G1 performers even though their pure performance figure was superior? After all that's what handicapping should be doing isn't it Equalising outcomes with wieght not past perfromance?

BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Thomass replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
I don't do stupid questions normally but I'm feeling sorry for dumb animals today Maybe Dad saw Dan's ratings and how he'd dropped off normal highs, even when winning a G1 3 starts previously?? You'll hear many trainers talk about "saving blinkers up" knowing how well they've trained/trialed in them As for PL's 'thoughts' re '50%" of the time stat...give me a freaken break My reason day tear is profiling horses that have raced in superior races.. to win a certain amount and in adding 20% for blinkers...I'm trusting the trainer believes his horse is even more superior with a gear change -
BLINKERS ON First time...what took them sooo long???
Thomass replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
I worked in 3 stables when I was younger and cant recall any instances where the boss would try BO without training/trialing in them Besides, it doesn't make sense that you'd risk hyping up a horse with something that new on race day when some horses already over race with them on Here's Champion Queensland trainer Tony Gollan's thoughts I definitely use blinkers and winkers a lot in trackwork to get an understanding of what is going to work on race day and what the horse feels most comfortable racing in. From a punting point of view, you want to see blinkers applied to a horse who is still on the way up in the preparation and open to improvement. A lot of the time I see blinkers applied to a horse who has been struggling and the application of blinkers is like a last resort or desperate tactic. When a horse is not going well and appears to have had enough for the campaign, blinkers or winkers aren't going to make a difference. -

You're as nutty as that bloke who goes 'mardigrassing' Providng a list of B wearers and expecting every single one of them to win, #pffttt Alors, if after you've 'analysed' the form and for example, you thought Mr. B was already value one trusts that Benny has trained Mr. B in them nek minute Dan discovers they worked and so did Willo What's so hard about that iron stein? -
The handicapper got it right then didn't he?

Yep, there's also UNAPPROVED PLATES They go on top of the head and very good inversed when slippery Like that Scotland/All Black test circa 1975 "That's not a touchdown...that's a splashdown"!!!
