  1. ...oh..and the WEALTHY of course!! Just how good are the 'wealthy' for our industry though eh? If it wasn't for the Brendon's and Jo's of this thoroughbred world we'd be up sheet creek Jo, who sent Brendon off with a cut lunch everyday when working out of their garage and before selling Sistema for $660M, has gone on to grow the Lindsey Foundation with an emphasis on animal welfare...Riding for the Disabled, Guide Dogs et el as well...how good? Then the salt of the earth Temuka lad, Mr. Ritchie of Ritchie's Buses, decides to retire and is at a loss with what to do with his many millions "Why not buy a race horse" he said to his wife That was only 4 years ago...20 horses with Chris Waller and 6 or so with Andy Carsons later, he buys the big O's sister for 2.4M Our industry is littered with the wealthy who made good and wanted some fun On the reverse side, thank goodness the likes of Eric Watson got out before the industry was tarred by his presence. Bloodstock investor Owen Glenn getting his revenge on the business deal that went wrong with poor Eric ending up in the Grey Bar Hotel, then charged with insider trading in the US...how the mighty fall sometime If only we could get Graeme Hart interested in bloodstock instead of useless mega boats and their jacuzzi's
  2. Funny you should mention "instant" When John Craig was dribillerating over the Puke cockup he'd taken fully 6 minutes to sort all placings out before he posted the b/s result Oatham made the excuse that the Puke Judges box is a long way from the Stipes, hence no input from RIB in this case, as often happens evidently In that 6 minutes Brady could've walked up to the long drop and sorted out the spat between the 'Judge' and his camera operator What gets really interesting is the possibility that the Boxing Day inside camera for Yaldi's race, which was set at the wrong angle, could be the problem in this instance and contributing to the massive fight between the operator and 'judge'?? With the RIB still refusing to comment on both balls ups their "we're transparent" moniker isn't worth the toilet paper it's scribbled on
  3. At least they're consistent When PHELEN THE POWER won in '23... 1.22.76 on a S5 The main point..using the default as an SOFT 5 is NUTS isn't it? Are our horses now so delicate they can't race on a G3? Why have they got a G1 rating which NEVER happens apart from Towpaw in a blue moon And got rid of H11...which happens often in winter?/
  4. Yes Jeff Lloyd similar Did they teach this style in SA as well?
  5. Stipes ALWAYS ask Jockeys after every race what they think the track rating is 1.38 1600M a G3 na What's Walshy got to do with it...did he say a G3?
  6. I got the impression he was more referring to the starting track rating for the day on tracks throughout the season G 4 is still the old EASY after all Pitty trains his steeds to love hard ground evidently N.B the Cup was still officially run on a SOFT 5 Nothing about 'retrospectively' which they use if they think the race was run on something differently So they irrigated it to an H 8 (with 1ml rain Thursday night) and had 8 races on a SOFT 5 Seriously, no wonder Pitty was spitting tacks
  7. So after 4 weeks the hopeless RIB finally get to 'investigate' the Kurow judge stuff up "Kurow Jockey Club - Monday 30 December 2024 Race 10 - COUPLANDS WORKING DOGS R75 1400m Subsequent to the race day at Kurow on 30 December 2024, it was brought to the Stewards’ attention that there may be an error in the placings for Race 10. On review of the evidence, the Stewards ascertained that the judge incorrectly placed the horses in third and fourth position. The issue was raised with the Judge who accepted that an error had been made. There are no provisions in the Rules for Stewards to amend Judges’ placings after the payment of dividends has commenced and accordingly the official placings will remain unchanged." So this snugg fits the John Craig stuff up Has the RIB now instigated a double check in the 'sole' judge stuff ups to avoid such in the future? Oatham said "the Puke judge is too far away for us guys to observe the piks" Just sort it, send a note to the stipes to run up and meet the judge...half way even What price integrity of the CORRECT placings??
  8. Well you may well arks @chiefstipe When I contacted NZTR and pointed out how many readings Australia provide punters in THREE They said..;it's hard to get our tracks calibrated...then we tried to bring in the shear reading, providing a shear reader to many tracks...but that didn't work out..." Get the picture Chief? Then Mick Pitman was ropable when interviewed by Geggy O'Connor on Trackside this weekend "why are we running on all thes SOFT tracks in the middle of summer FFS" pretty much word for word...and he has influence on the trainer's committees but how much weight does that carry?
  9. Well it's funny you should say that When Wazz first came here Opee bailed him up and arksed "how do you manage to bounce up and down like that and win sooo many races" The answer's inda puddin' I guess...no??
  10. And you're as equally CLULESS Chief You'd do well in Trump's brand new US of A.. HEARTLESS, COMPASSIONLESS, INHUMAN Wealthy billionaires running the country with a heart as cold as an AI ice burg Horse's treated like money making commodities, next stop the glue factory Thank God you're living in the past in AOTEAROA then
  11. When Generation Alpha finds out NZTR have funded 3 or is it 4 Crematoriums to dispose of unwanted horses There will be hell to pay Just how many are being re-homed? NZTR are clueless when it comes to these 'stats' and have failed to reasonably activate this part of the 'social license'
  12. Remarkable style Wazza When I started out riding I was warned.."DON'T give the horse a sore back...or else!! Wazza bounces up and down on a horse's back like a yoyo Very similar to ex Sth African jockey Jeff Lloyd..one of the best in Queensland a few years back...perhaps taught this style in the par excellence Sth African apprentice schools? Maybe the forward momentum gained being shanghai'd off the back helps propel the horse forward? Anyway sore back next day or not...Wazza is a winner
  13. Wazza "last time I rode him I said to Danny 'he's getting up and there and getting cruisy on me...lifting his head up...he's not attacking the line...it's time for BLINKERS!!!...and you saw...the old CROCETTI's back!! Nakhle's over the flippen moon...thanks to BO's!!
  14. So LA DORADA & DAMASK ROSE both get BO (1st time) and cruise it Just as MELODY BELLE, PROBABEEL & DYNASTIC did before them Special training performance in recognising what works and what doesn't..in training.. Nek minute CROCEETI! Looked under pressure but BO kicked in and he concentrated superbly to push through a gap to win a nose
  15. If any Man from Mars arrived here they'd be thinking planet Earth has constant RAIN When NZTR adopted the ridiculous Australian rating 'system' they didn't take into account how crazy a SOFT rating sounds when it's NOT SOFT at all Maybe to an Arstralian it is... NZTR then FAILED to recognise the new system introduced another H to the confusion...the old H9 H 10 to H8 H9 H10 When punters HATE H ratings! It's terribly misleading...however NZTR and Australia are about to introduce a 7 point rating system...surely they'll sort the nonsense out this time? #yeana
  16. Chief and his bro Trog wiil take note there's no round arm action going on...which is what happens when the ass gets wacked Spratty motion is flat up and down on the highly sensitive flank I'd say a 'half strike' on the flank = a full ass strike She's constantly reminding her mount what she's there for I counted @30 continuous strikes from the 300M mark Blatant cheating rubber stamped by RIB/NZTR
  17. What's she doing then Magoo...hitting scotch mist?
  18. Soz, dont know whether I'm talking to Arfur or Marfa half the time Here's Spratt whippin' the flank all the way down the Tauranga straight in Woodsy's Green colours The winner if you're colour blind
  19. Here Chief, this is the prime example you asked for Spratty when winning on Chris Wood's horse..Woodsy should give the prize money back asap Just watch the head on...it's all you need Chief
  20. There's zero comparison to hands on reins neck whippin' to what Spretty does Consecutive strikes on the flank which reminds the horse how it's going to be much more painful when it becomes harder close to the line Shocking cheating rubber stamped by RIB
  21. Ask Russ when you go tomorrow Chief, he's very approachable
  22. Both of those scenarios aint gunna happen I'm afraid While they'll ban flank whipping...to some degree...the Jockey's Association headed by Andy Lacy has huge influence and they'll more than likely water it down as much as possible At least they recognised how ridiculous an outright 10 strikes was and introduced a 'total' of 10 strikes while allowing for a 6/4 split BTW Spratt continually smacking the flank is vastly different to hands on neck whipping Dye is also a huge advocate for DQ's So Matt Cameron's outrageous cheating on LICKETYSPLIT when winning the G 1 Sistema would have been rightly DQ'd
  23. Good on you Chief, the more youngun's you can attract the better Maybe Russ Warwick will ask them what floats their boat when he greets them tomorrow And he'll decide "social license is everything" is a load of olde world cobblers?
  24. Oh nooo, those bleedin' Oirishman can talk their way around anything...Joe?
  25. Utter nonsense...I make my living off this industry so why would I want it shut down? So you're ok with over the shoulder,..flank whipping..anything that your olde school money hungry gents want? Why not bring the olde whip with leather flaps on the end back...they used to go just as fast with M.Campbell bashing the shit out of them didn't they?
