Most vivid positive memory experience/thrill in industry
Nowornever replied to Karrotsisback's topic in Trotting Chat
Yeh going to Addington in the 80s and 90s as a kid was great fun and usually had large crowds in attendance. There used to be a short little chinese man that rolled up to the windows before every race and used to yell out his trifecta combinations to the teller...He would be there a good 15mins at the same window 1-5-4 $10 dollar .......1-4-5 $10 dollar 4-1-5 $10 dollar and so on and so on. I used to see him at every country meeting as well around Canterbury. One of my better collects at Addington was the day they had the first six pack (Pick the first six in order) on the trots on the 13th May 2006 on the Nevele R Fillies Final. I spent $50 with 5 x 10% tickets and on all of them anchoring the favourite Western Dream (Herlihy) who couldn't get beat. I took Affairs Of State (Mark Purdon) and Alingi (Jo Herbert) for second and third and then had a ton of combos for 4th 5th and 6th. Anyway the TAB put a up a guaranteed pool of $100k for this new Six pack bet but I don't think it was widely advertised. I managed to get the right order on 3 of my 10% tickets and thought I might get a couple of hundred dollars back as the trifecta only paid $31.50 with the hot favourite winning. I waited for the result but it never came up on the screens. I headed for the counter and gave the first 10% ticket to the teller. I nearly shit my pants when the 1st ticket showed $6250.00 Yes the payout for a full unit was $62,500. I ended up collecting $18,750 for $50 Bring back the Six Pack TAB. -
Had a drive on the Motukarara surface a few years ago and couldn't believe the size of some of the holes in it in some places hope it has been smoothed out since then!
-
Another not so good drive again today(Took too long to get the lead, and then went for the horse far too early) but he has been driving like that since he started driving and butchered many other drives in similar fashion to his last start indiscretion, so par for the course really. The dividend you get for his drives is usually priced in and reflects his ability as a driver. Saginaw would have been 1.80 today with Orange driving and would have won.

Thanks Jason Romeo Foxtrot was a good price early thought the bookies had that one badly wrong.

How long will we remain in Level Four in New Zealand?
Nowornever replied to Gospel of Judas's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
The media are pulling the wool over your eyes and the rest of New Zealand. Yes the cases dropping by 64% is great news. What they don't like you to work out is that the number of tests also dropped by over 60% so false advertising is more likely the case in this situation! -
How long will we remain in Level Four in New Zealand?
Nowornever replied to Gospel of Judas's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
Not sure about lockdown ending but getting sick of the PR feelgood crap coming from JA on the podium every day! Why do we have to listen to the covid vaccination stats every day starting with now for some good news. Everyone knows NZ stuffed up with getting the country vaccinated early so no good trying to put a spin on it how we are doing so well now! -
HRNZ Halfway Through Finalising New Racing Calendar!
Nowornever replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Yes it's a pain if you want to launder money now you have to do it $999 dollars at a time. -
Any Announcements from HRNZ (Woodham) on the Mane Drain?!
Nowornever replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Should be right up your alley with less tight class races. A) You think group racing is boring as the same old trainers win every time. B) Premier harness racing is not a good investment. Now you are complaining there is not enough of them! Until breeding numbers are on the way up harness racing will stagnate or decline. Maybe you should breed a couple and help the industry grow again! -
Always had the ability but dogged with bad draws here and questionable driver tactics in a lot of its races. I thought it could run close to 1:50 in aus and will do that when it is fully fit.

Thanks for winning the last Ben Hope.... A great pick six result and made my multi....great drive too!

TAB taking $20k from a Punter others get $20???????
Nowornever replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
They are not prepared because why would they want to lose 100 Million in a couple of years if they let winning punters on for 100K a bet. Fairly easy to beat the bookies but tricky to get a lot of money off them when their liquidity is so low and their risk management is so reactive to anyone beating the system. You are never going to do be able to do it on your account lets face it! Put your 2K a place on a spread of 20 $100 dollar bets or lower at various agencies is the best you can hope for. On the plus side the odds have been getting juicy lately on a few. Glenthorne at 8s on opening wow. I have never been to so many TAB's so quickly in all my life. -
TAB taking $20k from a Punter others get $20???????
Nowornever replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Why they would put 20K on a horse with a decent chance of galloping for a start is beyond me. Money laundering? -
Are you somehow saying the TAB should let the people decide how much money the TAB makes and not be governed by their business decisions which ultimately decides how much money gets distributed back to the industry. If that were the case you would be instead create a more vicious downward spiral of the industry than it is already in. It is actually beneficial to the industry for the TAB to make as much money as they can to distribute more to harness racing. Sounds like you are selfishly in it for yourself and not the industry as a whole! Fair enough if you rely on gambling for your living but you claim you do not bet for the money.

TAB-NZ - Bloopers, bugs and general stuff ups.
Nowornever replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
True. They try to prioritise aesthetics before user friendliness and that is a completely rooted way of going about website design! -
Along with the incompetence add in spelling mistakes, grammatical errors which are all common place these days and the harness journalists are the worst of them. Don't they proof read their work anymore?
-
"The first amateur harness racing driver in the country to reach 50 career wins" Wrong! Todd Woodward has driven over 200 winners before Sheree started driving and he is an amateur!
-
Yes I take notice. What ever they pick I leave out for first. Easy money! It is amazing how many times whale can get a 1.50 shot beaten!

Race 1 O Thornley (RIVEERED) [Rule 869(3)(b)] - Careless driving, shifting ground causing interference (2 months). Suspended from 16/07/2021 until 15/09/2021 inclusive.

Martin Herbert - Anyone know anything about him?
Nowornever replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Noted: Brodie having a big place punt on Unchanged Memory. Hope you can get on -
And some shocking driving in that race by others gave it to Orange on a plate.

He used to be good because he went to the trials in the days when there were no trial videos available or race replays and his tips paid good money. Now everyone can see the nice trialists unlucky horses and all the other information which is why the whales tips pay nothing anymore, everyone sees them for free with their own eyes. I hope he keeps tipping them because its easy to make a dollar laying his tips on betfair.
