  1. If you have any interest or hope in the NZ Racing Industry, for fcks sake look what is being sold to you on the political front. It is relevant to YOUR racing industry because: 1. NZ First is a goneburger. Polls can lie, but they don't lie anywhere as good as Peters. He let most of his voters down in the last election and propped up labour AND the greens. He will not be re-elected. That is a given. Forget the $70m-where has it gone? Several Cambridge trainers think its great. Tell me=what else has he done? How are your stakes looking? From where I am they look pitiful. 2. Worst case scenario this election? Labour propped up by the greens. Racing might as well close up if this is what happens. You are all 'rich' and will be hit by wealth taxes, and all manner of new taxes that they aren't talking about...yet. 3. 2nd worse case scenario is a labour only govt. ardern thinks farmers are living in the past-that includes horse people, crop farmers, there will be have wealth taxes all right, but they will be called something else-read the bit about taxes above. They'll have death duty, stamp duty ( on property sales ) and heaps more. Why? Because they have no idea about generating real income through business-ardern even said they have no policies FFS! their own 'experts' are saying 100,000 people at least are going to lose their jobs next year. Maybe thats you? 4. A vote for NZ first is a wasted vote. 5. If you can't bring yourself to vote for the nats then vote for Act. These guys have common sense and honesty. Even the totally biased nz media can't find anything to shit on Act for. 6. The nats-forget about the past. Even if they don't have a racing minister ( and they have had a few deadbeats) they are a much better bet for nz, and racing , than labour and the other communists. nz needs a govt that supports farming, business, racing, sport, private enterprise!! labour and the greens are socialists and communists. there philosophy is...' we will look after you, we will control you, just pay us the exorbitant taxes so we can monopolize you. Tell me it aint so!
  2. Come in Tommo!! There's no mention of a knowledge of racing...so you'd be a shoo in old feller!
  3. Theres a sucker born every minute. However, my experience in racing horses is that owners have to have something to aspire to. Maybe its their first trials win? The first maiden win? If NZ Group races are worth no more than an average Saturday race in Melbourne/Sydney but the costs involved in having a horse in work remain constant then racing will revert to what non believers accuse it of..' a rich mans sport'. The reason the top level of racing has to be worth the effort and money, i.e. stakes, is the same reason athletes want to go to the Olympics, Rugby World Cup, climb Everest etc...we all want to be a winner, maybe get that ' 15 minutes of fame'. You'll never convince me that reducing stakes to pitiful levels in NZ will somehow help the industry. Might as well breed donkeys and race them on the beach.
  4. And still no word on reductions to high salaries/lay offs/costs at the top of the tree etc etc... If the bells that are ringing are correct, an announcement on Wednesday may bring some more bad news for owners: the calendar for 2020-2021 will reflect Group racing to be decimated in New Zealand. Here are some stats from across all Australian racing venues in the last few months: I've just picked a few random races for examples Listed Races- $112,000, $125,000,$100,000,$85,000,$100,000,$100,000 Group 3 races- $160,000, $140,000,$160,000, $`125,000,$175,000,$175,000,$175,000 Group 2 races- $500,000, $175,000,$175,000, $160,000, Group 1 races- $350,000, $350,000, $400,000. $400,000, $400,000 $1.500,000, $500,000 SO the question is, where are NZ Group races going to sit now? And if stakemoney is reduced to the levels suggested, how can trainers justify their training fees? Vets, feed companies, horse transporters.....??
  5. No grimstone was still wanking behind the bike sheds when tamihere's brother murdered 2 swiss people in the Coromandel. Still says he didn't do it, no doubt the present justice minister ( little ) will give him a free pass and $10m soon
  6. The Coalition of losers you have as a govt over there is desperate to keep onside with maori, given their 'speacial' deal re maori seats. What a racist bunch. Tamihere carefully avoids mentioning all of the maori babies beaten up/murdered by maoris and the offenders protected by maoris. And the gangs, predominantly maori. And all of the money handed out by this govt in particular..where has that gone? And as soon as you ask that question you get labelled a racist. And all of the 'special' deals at places like medical schools, universities etc etc... forget this guy Happy, he's a tosser and an opportunist he's been sucking on the public tit longer than some of the people in racing!
  7. You might be right there curious. But anyone doing due diligence on the nz TAB would eventually get to the bottom line...profit? When costs are offset against ' punting' there aint much left, that must be obvious as its the reason stakes are still not announced. And while RITA blame the virus effects, the cupboard was clearly bare before the virus struck..the first time. IF it is on the way back, then all bets are off. The best option that I can see is for an off shore body owns the nz TAB, the nz TAB gets a fixed amount per annum plus a % of turnover. And the new owner gets whats left. To the victor, the spoils?
  8. And it transpires that the only hope for the industry is to off-load the NZ TAB. Thats what RITA is hanging its hat on. But who would buy it. Why would you buy an agency like this? Who-apart from NZers would bet on racing in NZ? Or sport? There are so many other world wide betting agencies to bet with. RITA is trying to force punters to bet on the Nz TAB to attempt to make the figures look good to a ' prospective' buyer. Don't hold your breath.
  9. Fuck off bloke. I've never defended nationals performance. It was abysmal. Your love affair with ardern is clouding your reasoning. You m ight change your mind a tad when the story about her ' first partner' and his stray rooting hits the news.
  10. It is quite clear that the NZ racing industry is incapable of carrying on in the same way that it has in the past. It's also clear that the financial crisis facing RITA is worse than anyone anticipated, including all of us who read/post here. I understand that there are negotiations underway for the NZ TAB to be ' bought' 'taken over' or whatever the vehicle used. And if these negotiations fail, the industry is effectively history. So you all better keep something crossed if its important to you. Here in NSW prizemoney has been restored to the level it was prior to the crisis. And racing continues to boom. The best scenario is for a fixed sum to be paid to NZ Racing/TAB/RITA or whoever by the purchaser of the TAB. And then its up to the industry here to survive or die. By the way RITA has acted so far, i.e. stopping radio broadcasts, making it difficult to bet on course, no newspaper fields etc, you'd think that they have a death wish for the industry. Because on track betting would be the business of local racing entities, and RITA seem to think it doesn't matter?
  11. Winstone is part of a govt ( which he backed ) which rewards non-achievement. Just ask any of the recipients of the billions of dollars ardern has handed out in the past few weeks. So of course he's going to back McKenzie. To sack or criticize him at the moment-within a few months of an election-would be an admission that he ( Peters ) had backed the wrong horse. Or is that dead horse..again?
  12. A couple of points that I'd like clarified, if possible: The $17m annual fee for the website installation ( rip off ) which the previous RIB entered into-is that coming out of the $72m Peters announced? McKenzie, in his report 26 May said that consultation with the 'Executive Leadership Team' ( of the TAB ?) was starting yesterday...what is he talking about? More jobs gone or what. Just for the record, my view is that spending all that money on 3 artificial tracks is good...for trainers. Not racing. Why oh why common sense didn't prevail and a decent Strathayr installed at Ellerslie ( as at Mooney Valley) I'll never know.
  13. Not that you seem to give a shit what any of us think, Dean...however Can you tell us if the financial situation of racing in NZ is that bad that you and your cronies have to sack 30% of the TAB employees, stop the broadcasting of racing on radio ( and you should read Racing.com and Racenet.com to see how stupid the Aussies think you are!) etc etc How come you haven't done something about this? Board members, Directors etc of racing in NZ RITA 6 NZTR 6 RIU 4 JCA 6 plus CEO HRNZ 8 NZTR 6 GRNZ 11 ! ( 3 independent, 3 regional, Licensed person, 5 x committees for fecks sake) That appears to be 48. 48!! at least not counting other 'CEO's, Chiefs etc etc This is from the websites of these outfits. They'll be getting paid. So who do think the suckers are, again? If the govt can amend legislation overnight to give the cops power of entry to private property without warrants, don't you think you should do something about the gravy train above?
  14. Finally someone sees the point. Yes, its true. And yes, she should. But its the racing industry. Mediocrity, ineptitude, nepotism, stray rooting....and more...its all here folks.
  15. The above is an 'opening salvo'... When you consider that this woman has been PAID...not EARNED..millions of dollars by the racing industry over the years, does it make you understand a little more why the whole industry is so fucked? Who makes these appointments? Why are people like this woman seemingly indespensible?
  16. Does this surprise anyone? So RITA in their wisdom? decide that racing, the TAB. Racing Clubs, punters etc etc do not need Fields or racing articles in any news media Any radio broadcast of racing If you actually make it to a racetrack, don't expect to be able to spend your cash on buying a tote ticket And more, even if you have sky tv, you'll get very minimal coverage of races Who the fuck would vote for any or all of the above? I have been messaged by a guy who until reasonably recent times was actually part of the j.c.a. in NZ, when one of the RITA Board members, the original 'snout in the trougher' Kristal MacDonald was the j.c.a. Chairperson, i.e. in charge of the j.c.a. At one of their 'conferences'. in Wellington, this old legal hack MacDonald said, to a group including lawyers, a law professor, and some very experienced racing people....all who apparently sit in judgement on jocks, trainers etc at race courses 'You should not watch racing on TV when you are working at a racemeeting for the j.c.a. Read a book or something. Anyway, I can not imagine anything worse than sitting watching horse racing all day Read it and weap people. Guess who pushed for the abolition of the points in the opening part of this post?
  17. Things are going to get very messy. I'm under starters orders about what/who I can reveal..at this time.
  18. Yes it will. and it has. However just letting you know Chief that I'm not going to disclose anything which I cannot verify. There is a huge amount of money which has 'gone west' in the last few years from 'the industry' and it needs to be accounted for....fully and properly.
  19. The person is close to the action Freda. As in, close to RITA. What I can say at the moment is...as always.... Follow. The. Money. ?
  20. I don't expect these pricks to answer. Thats not the point of my post. In fact I've been made privy to some information that makes my fucking blood boil, but I'm not at liberty to say what it is...yet. I am going to protest my informant..lets call him/her..'deep throat'!! All in good time.
  21. Just one more Deano..the $17 million. When did RITA learn about this? Your boss Winnie MUST have known when he labelled the Racing Board a 'dead horse' 2 years ago. So is that 2 years at $17 mil since nothing has been done? $34 million? Have any of your legal experts on the RITA board explored how the industry can get out of this? Is it enforceable...because $34 million for the last 2 years that Peters has been Minister is a shitload of money...how far would that go in stakemoney? Huh?
  22. How much did it cost the industry to make Mark Stafford redundant? How much are you and the other so called Board members being paid? How many times did Peter Vela and Kristal McDonald physically attend RITA Board meetings? Who was it on the RITA Board that wanted to cancel newspapers, Trackside radio, on track betting..is it true that it was Ms McDonald who actually hates racing but just loves the payments she is getting, onceuponatime from JCA ( $200k for 1 day a week) and now RITA? What was the state of the industry before this Covid drama? Where is the annual report? I'm sure there are other extremely relevant questions industry participants in NZ would love to ask.. Meanwhile....why hasn't the stakemoney for the new season been announced? Could it be because of some of the above? anytime your'e ready, Dean.
  23. You guys should all read about the seemingly hopeless lack of any real integrity in Queensland. Some very well known trainers are saying its a joke, racing in Queensland is not a level playing field. Given the amount of money and the staffing at the integrity set up in Queensland, its a disgrace. Read about it RACENET.COM. Sound familiar?

  24. Over a week since I posted this. Still nothing from NZTR/RIU about how they intend to save money/cut costs/eradicate waste...Fletchers, Air NZ, plus many other large companies are reducing costs, cutting staff...when are racing industry participants at the ground level going to see some action? Is it going to be typical NZ racing inaction, wait until its too late and wonder ' wha happened'?
  25. And you know something different..? Cough up!!
