So maybe saying 'hoisted' is the correct phraseology...now that peters' problems have multiplied. Why is it relevant? Well after all the posturing and promises it seems a possibility that we may not have a Racing Minister much longer. Even one of his admirers ( Gary Chittick of Waikato Stud) has come out and confirmed he gave nz first $5000 which went to purposes he did not envisage-or approve of. And now wishes he didn't and wants the $5k back..!And who knows what else is coming out in the next few days. And who is named . Peters is playing the innocent of course, 'wasn't me I was framed'!! blah blah winnie, cop it sweet mate.

Is OZ going down the same dead end path NZ has?
Kopia replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
I just happenned to switch Trackside on last night...the RITA AGM was being broadcast ( delayed ). I'm still trying to figure out what was said. No wonder that guy John Allen is standing down, his address was disgraceful, like a kid standing up at primary school and having to give a speech in front of other kids. I don't believe these people have got a clue, in fact it appears their main hope is still to sell other peoples' property and take the money. Have a read of what Berri has to say on the other channel. I think he's hit the nail on the head, this bunch of loser politicians calling itself a Govt don't really want to touch racing, they are frightened by the PC brigade and the nutter Greens of being associated with 'animal exploitation' and 'torture' etc etc..I hope for the industries sake that the rumours again doing the rounds about stake DECREASES aren't correct. -
Merely stating a fact. I have no longer any racing involvement in this country. I just feel sorry for the battlers and the young people at the bottom of the pond working for peanuts, things aint changing for them.
-
By ' this Government' read..the Minister. Because no one else in the loser coalition gives a shit, thats quite clear. And now Peters has had to back down hugely over his childish pursuit of National MP's...and don't be surprised to see part of the eventual decision from the Judge ( after he has had his Xmas month off ) that Peters has to apologise to those he now accepts did not leak the details of his fraudulent defalcation. All this leads to the fact that your final sentence is correct. We're fucked as an industry. p.s. tommo to save you having to look it up...' defalcation-"a breach of trust involving money"....sounds apt in Peters' case.

Nothing to do with Tolley or anyone else tommo...the old geezer has painted himself into a corner ?

Momentum is growing in opposition to striking horses with whips...now Michelle Payne, Chris Waller and even Hugh Bowman are saying the only reason a jockey needs to carry a whip is for correctional purposes. NZ could lead the way here-but we know that NZTR won't-by 2 measures: 1. As above, ban riders being able to strike horses with whips in an attempt to gain an advantage, and 2. Initiate the right to protest against placegetters if the rule is breached as in (1) above. How hard would it be?
-
You lasted longer than me....any faith I had in rita went when they announced the 'dead horse' Allen was staying on as CEO. What a waste of time, rita, peters, allen, mac, et al

yeah but M McNab and R Jones both got lengthy suspensions in the last week for causing falls. So its not just apprentices, the standard of riding-apart from about 6 senior jocks-in NZ is atrocious. 'Warnings' don't cut the mustard, piss weak RIU, especially Oathum, and j.c.a. who get sucked in by RIU are partly to blame. Just have to look across the ditch, they don't do anybody any favours. Can't be buddies with riders and do the job properly.
-
So he was going to miss Group1 rides? Tough shit. It's called a feckin' penalty, ! Don't do the crime then leaf!! And this is the guy who got a sweetheart deal a few weeks back at Ashburton...was told he wasn't going to get a suspension when he should have, special circumstances etc etc...cops a few hundy fine and told the same shit' not setting a precedent'!! Oh yeah? wait until the next jock gets done for a similar charge, of course it sets a precedent, any lawyer will tell you that. I don't really givesashit tommo I said a few months back I'm done racing horses in NZ, but this whole Innes thing stinks. There needs to be an investigation as to why he keeps getting favours from the j.c.a. If I was a jock here I'd be fuming that he keeps getting warnings and piss weak penalties by the j.c.a.
-
And what a surprise tommo...it was your mate doolley on the j.c.a. The jocks call him ' soft cock' because he swallows so many sob stories. time for someone in the j.c.a. to ask why leaf gets so many favours from these guys?

Sounds like ( from a reliable source ) that RITA forwarded recommendations to Peters over a month ago. Of course he's too busy trying to extract revenge and satisfy his own personal vendettas to worry about acting on anything RITA suggests. Anyone surprised?
-
Your'e onto it. Probably a bit too hard to fathom for some of the t'icker posters!
-
Of course its relevant...it explains why he is missing inn action for the racing portfolio....duh

If you are not aware of the quotation-its from Shakespeare. Effectively, it means you're fucked and you did it to yourself. Peters has been so consumed with hatred ever since just before the election when he alleges he was defamed over superannuation payments he received which were incorrect and he was overpaid. He is blaming 2 National policiticians for leaking......the truth. How bizarre as the old Paulie Faumoina song went! Peters is currently giving evidence as the litigant in a civil case. Wish I didn't live in Dunders where nothing ever happens ( ha ha ) I'd be in court to listen and observe the cross examination which will surely make Peters-for once in his life'answer the feckin' question. No wonder the silly old fool hasn't had time to do anything constructive re the racing industry.

Its an Aussie thing mate...thats what the Aussie sheila's reckon anyway. Aussies have got no staying power, a quick flash and its all over. I see someone suggesting 50% of the field should be reserved for Aussie/NZ horses, the rest UK, Japan etc. Thats bullshit. To carry on being the race that stops Aus/NZ it needs to be the best field possible..on the day. If its dominated by overseas horses, tough shit. Concentrate on breeding and developing young horses to stay the distance! And you aussie blokes too?

According to the NZTR website he sustained a broken pelvis yesterday when his mount reared in the stalls and fell backwards, landing on him. Bad enough for a young guy making a name for himself however not as bad as it could have been. Surgeons believe he will make it back riding eventually...

There you go being deliberately ' obtuse' again Tommo. You know that I have said before that Ellerslie should be showcase of NZ racing..WITH horses trained on site. So the reference to HongKong is irrelevant. Its not about how many racetracks we should have or need in NZ. My objection is to the suggestion by messara and peters that 'they' will just 'take' private property, i,e, racecourses owned by clubs, force a sale and take the proceeds... Okay, how about this scenario...you've heard that New World supermarket is going to build a mega market near your house. They need more land for their parking area. so they get some legal whiz to try and get an order from a court that they can simply 'take' your house and sell it,and keep the proceeds. How would you react to that? I don't see too much difference to what peters/messara et al think they're going to do to Avondale, Rotorua racing clubs ( to name 2 ).
-
Fred were there 2 Te akau Sharks' racing yesterday..? I thought he looked great, and if you saw the trackwork from the Valley on Tuesday morning on trackside live ( a great show) you'd say the horse is going to go a bolter, which he did. He looked sensational, and any 'issues' people are referring to haven't stopped him earning close to a million bucks so far, and once 4th, the rest of his races 1/2/3....to aim him at Sydney in the autumn makes sense, he'll get a shot at huge money and he'll get his Group 1 win , just my opinion. Maybe he appreciates tracks with just the sting out of them, as it was yesterday in the Cox Plate, and which he'll probably get in the Autumn?
-
Your feckin hero, not everyones Tommo. I don't recall him saying 12 months ago that any progress forward was conditional on selling private property and having the proceeds deposited into RITA bank accounts...it was an option put forward by his mate messara, now it seems to be the ONLY option? Clearly the greens and his best friend goofy have put the skids under him... Anyway, of course Inners got one over the j.c.a. How often has he done that, and they fold and say shit like..'its not setting a precedent, its a special case..blah blah blah....' he's extra good at playing the field this guy.
-
Shouldn't be any surprises here Tommo. When has nz racing ever led from the front? Thats why we do not have ONE racetrack in the whole Country that stacks up alongside Randwick, Flemington, the Valley, etc etc. All of these tracks in Aussie can take racing 3 times in a week during carnivals and even in shit weather they mostly stack up with good surfaces. Check out the big race ( Everest ) last Saturday...broke the track record for 1200m, and even if it had been wet it would have been an outstanding surface. And we have a so-called premier racing club in auckland that can't even provide racing for 3 months of the year? The people here in NZ who should be making the decisions you refer to look like stunned possums caught in a headlight when asked the question...'Why Not'?

The shark has an explosive turn of foot...which we haven't seen so far this preparation. Maybe he's being trained/ridden differently this time in, since his goal from day 1 has been the Cox Plate. He hasn't raced past 1600m and his draw ( at best 14 out of 14 ) probably won't stop him unless something makes the pace and tries to slip the cutter before the turn, in which case his job will be bloody hard. I think he's a good chance in a tough, even field. A field we hoped for, after the Worlds best dominated the race for 4 years. He is a lot better than both the horses you mention Brando.. Hows things in Sydney this morning☺️

It's been great to see him win a couple of biggies in the past week or so. He looked to be gone for all money not that long ago, so he's done hugely well to come back and win at the very top level. But..please...if he does happen to win another biggie, i.e. the Cup...can the interviewer say..' Bossy, you've got one minute, starting now'!! jeeze, talk about a feckin' motor mouth!
-
Well I havent heard what Peters said a couple of days ago..but he has been quoted as saying the ' Racing Bill' is conditional on money being made available to the Racing Industry via the sale of ( private property)"unwanted" racetracks! Jeeze wouldn't you love to see the so called 'coalition agreement' between Peters and his coalition loser partners, labour and the greens? It has become clear that the losers told Peters there aint no $$$ for you here, you'll have to screw it out of an already fucked industry. ...while ardern and the rest of her rotten crew splash money around as if it grew on trees..... Tell me it aint so.

The carnival this year threw up a couple of other very progressive looking horses in Callsign Mav and Germanicus...both ran all 3 days and performed very well. Callsign Mav will be heading to the 2000 Guineas no doubt, and if Catalyst turns up you'd think he'd win but the other horse may give him a fright for a while. Germanicus looks to have all the ability but still very green, if and when he is 100% right upstairs he could win a nice race.

After Cape of Good Hope won yesterday the commentators/trainer were referring to the very successful cross of Galileo/Danehill. This was never more brilliantly displayed by the outstanding racehorse Frankel. I have a question for someone more qualified than me...does a cross like the one referred to above filter down to sons/daughters ? What I mean is, if a stallion by Galileo sires a foal out of a mare by Danehill or a Danehill stallion, what are the chances of the 'True Nick' referred to above being replicated?
