Billy I read recently that your namesake ( the real Billy Connolly ) is near death after suffering the effects of Parkinsons for many years......are you in a similar state? I say that as you seem to have missed the first part of that sentence of mine that you quoted.. " If the evidence does indeed support this then Weir and the rest of them can rot in hell...etc" If you are going to insult people and quote them, maybe try to do the job properly??
-
It appears-and the evidence at trial may support this-that it was about pain association. So in training/on treadmill etc pain was inflicted on horses with prods and probably other means while they were wearing blinkers. When they wanted a top raceday effort from the horse, blinkers were applied and the horse, fearing pain, would respond accordingly. If the evidence does indeed support this, then Weir and the rest of them can rot in hell as far as I am concerned. And should never be permitted to be involved with any animals-ever.

Think about how this would impact on society at large. Even though I believe the present Govt is a shocker, led by a photo opportunity lightweight, I still cannot believe legislation enabling an entity to take another entities property, sell it, and keep the proceeds, would ever succeed. Just not going to happen. And Peters may have Labour and Ardern bent over a barrel waiting to insert you know what but what is proposed is ridiculous.

there is a precedent in New Zealand where land was 'taken'...its called the Treat of Waitangi.,and the Waitangi Tribunal. Look at where that has led, still not, and according to some participants, never will be settled. Racing authorities should be very careful about plans to 'take' land/and or assets that do not legally sit in their ownership.

With Spark getting the Rugby World Cup, and now live cricket broadcasts where does this leave Trackside and Sky? You'd think that SKY would now be quite dependant on Trackside funds, and if Sky lose live golf as well they're in deep shit. Nows the time for RITA to get stuck into SKY and get a better deal. Clearly Free to Air would be much better for racing fans but I can't see that..?

He must have scared the rest off?

Bit far for me to come and see the race ( I'll be at the 2000 Guineas for sure )...he put away a fair field last time at Ruakaka, nothing like he's going to have to beat on Saturday. I reckon if he draws inside 10 he'll be at $1.40
-
He is certainly looking the 'real deal'..so far. If he lines up in a full field in the Hawkes Bay Guineas on Saturday we'll see just how good he is. I can't think of any other 3 yr old likely to run at Hastings who will threaten, however matters like the barrier draw, track ( should be good ) where he sits in the running and when likely to be challenging into the straight...these are factors which will determine if he is as good as the people offering megabucks think he is. Hope he does win, and win well.☺️

Thanks for clarifying that....and she looks pretty smart after today.

Race 2 at Ellerslie today. This filly has had one race, 3rd in a Listed 2 yr old, earned $5000. Went from a rating 45 to a rating 65 after that race...20 points.....can someone explain how this works ? And what if she'd won that race, what rating would she be on now?

Check out what Mr Optimist had to say yesterday ( 26 September )....including the possibility that NZTR won't be able to pay owners their winning stakemoney..? Anybody waiting on prizemoney from Petone? Maybe thy've had a busy week with corporate 'shouts'..far more important?
-
I quite like his race calls. However I would rather he called from the front at the start of races..invariably he says ''so and so has gone back, this ones gone back, that ones gone back'...surely the horses that make good starts are more relevant?

According to a very good source at Riccarton yesterday Allen is going to have to deliver a nasty going away present this week...turnover massively down in NZ. Don't lose any sleep john, just count your bucks mate!
-
Of course they have. And this 'resignation' is a further example of the snouts being well entrenched in the trough. Allen is apparently on around $650,000 per annum. So he gets the 'Dont Come Monday'...efffective end of the year???? Thats another 14 weeks, do you realise that is another $175,000.!! For fucks sake this is just adding insult to injury. Deplorable state of affairs. No wonder he said he's going to have a 'rest' over Summer!! Wouldn't well like to have that sort of a rest?

Freda your'e not alone. I believe 'track closures' as per Messiahara report are nothing but a smokescreen. The BIG issues in NZ racing are stakemoney, and stakemoney. Closing a track will not result in more stakemoney. And while on the matter of tracks, it was interesting to hear Bernard ( call me Bernie ) on Weigh In refer to the Cambridge ' synthetic'. This is being touted as a 'temporary' panacea to the shit tracks currently operating in the north. But even if it does become operational ;'sometime' it won't help horses above a certain ability level. Won't be suitable for Premier racing..will it? Why don't NZTR and RITA bully the Auckland RC as they are bullying smaller clubs with their threats of closure, lower stake money etc. Its clear that if Ellerslie are going to continue hosting ' premier' races they just have to provide a consistant, safe racing surface. And that my friends is a Strathayr. So the ARC should stop pissing around spending money patching the track and get serious about a track that can take racing 12 months of the year. OR is the ARC one of the clubs Guerin and Bernie referred to as ' not talking to anyone'...? I think I know the answer to that question.

Has Rogie lost the plot or is he relenting to Owner Pressure?
Kopia replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Mr Rogerson has contacted the news reporter who filed the message the chief referred to... " you failed to mention my first sentence....the filly will attempt to break out of maiden ranks first, she needs to experience winning something.." -
Freda I wasn't referring to you-or any other trainers down our way.....more directed at some of the others who train where Murray does...great at bitching but never gets any further than that.?
-
The difference is he's saying it to an Australian reporter on one of the most viewed racing sites in Australia. With all due respect Freda, its one thing to bitch and moan between yourselves at the track crossing in the morning, quite another to do what Murrays done. Peters has done his usual politician trick, set up 'reports' 'enquiries' 'committees' etc etc costing huge amounts of industry money with NO VISIBLE RESULT. Peters is doing to the racing industry what his coalition partners are doing to the business sector, dairy industry, the oil and gas industry, the tourism industry..and housing? lets not go there with the ' kiwibuild' lies...it looks clear that this govt is running the economy into the ground so I wouldn't expect a dollar from that source.
-
And its our famous 'Minister'. Remember the 'unveiling' of the Messiarah bullshit report? Peters, referring to the Racing Board..'I know a dead horse when I see one'. So here we are over a year later, John Allen still getting $650,000 p.a., plus perks..'would you like a car with that John?..no trouble'...over 140 people 'employed' ( doing what?) by the still existant 'Board' getting at least $100,000 p,a,....... And here's what Murray Baker had to say to a Racing.com reporter.. " It's sad for young people ( in racing ) in New Zealand. they're leaving. This is their chosen industry and you can't survive in it. I'm coming to the end of it. I don't know what Andrew ( Forsman ) is going to do. He may chase opportunities elsewhere because he's a very good trainer. We're falling on hard times. Some of the levels of prizemoney ( in NZ ) are ridiculous. Trainers have been told no increases for at least 2 years and a possibility that stakes may go down in 2020. Racing generates a lot of money but they haven't worried about people at the coal face.' I recall posting here a few weeks ago about not putting another $1 into racing in NZ. Sad to say but I think there are more and more like me who are saying the same thing. Peters needs to come out and tell the truth, put the sick and dying out of their misery.
-
Thanks for sharing that with us Freda. It's amazing to think that she was old enough to do that! Unfortunately some people reading this site will not know what your'e referring to,.they should read up on the History of the Second World War. ?
-
The whole shebang is dodgy. A feckin big smokescreen. Almost 2 years since the losers coalition was stitched up together and what has taken place in the industry? A big fat ZERO. Nada, Zilch. Even tommo couldn't defend this bunch of fuckwits and thats saying something.Show me something constructive-stakemoney? no change until at least the end of this racing season. Disgraceful, still racing for peanuts.Tracks? -abandonments as usual.Replacement tracks?-NOT ONE...not even started. R.I.U?-incompetent, as ever. Picking on the easy targets. Racing Minister?-full of piss and wind, as we knew he would be. R.I.P the racing industry.

Has Rogie lost the plot or is he relenting to Owner Pressure?
Kopia replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Good point Chief. The Stewards here won't ask the hard questions. They're not up to it. They do the basics but won't think outside the box and ask themselves..is there something we should do from this race? Did all horses get the chance they deserved? In Aussie I understand their stewards have a race map for each race, not at every track but certainly the 'premier' tracks-before the race- and go over the replay and see if each horse was ridden appropriately, etc etc...not here. nillers. -

22 Thoroughbred Race Meetings Tomorrow 24 August 2019
Kopia replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Heres the reality: if New Zealand became a state of Australia, our racing industry would rate below Northern Territory's racing.and thats saying something. But that is a fact. I just read De Lores's latest blurb.something like 140 people employed by the 'Racing Board' earning over $100,000. Ask yourself where the main problem here lies. -
ah well can't blame me for trying to help you Tommo. By the way, good on winnie, the hypocritical, egotistical prick. By the look of his erratic behaviour and appearance it was clear that old Johnny W had got the better of him. Tell him good luck with the clinic.?
