  1. Is he still? Does anyone else think it weird that at a time when the racing industry is being run by an outfit which is technically insolvent there is no comment from Peters? Not even some supporting or encouraging remarks..he won't even appear on camera..still too busy fishing on the family private beach? AND...come on be honest. who among you reading this voted NZ First at the last election? And did you believe Peters when he gave his usual bullshit about ' supporting the party with the largest vote..which was National? And did you want him to go with the Nats? AND here's the biggie, now we've seen what a lying prick he is, will you ever support him again? p.s. I didn't vote NZ First because I learnt years ago never to trust Peters.
  2. Interesting. We never hear anything positive from jockeys, do we? You would think the way things are looking for the industry right now that riders would be wanting to say something? Their incomes are under threat as much as anyone elses in the industry. Thats for certain.
  3. The real issue here, and Pike should have clarified it, is what happens if horses are bought back into work, bills sent out to owners, and owners say 'get fucked'. Which is liable to be the case if the stakes are as bad as we think they're going to be. Then the trainer gets landed with the horse, and the unpaid bills. Can't blame the trainers really, but they need to be up front about it. And, now is the time for real action to reduce RITA's costs...massively. Talk about 'Custers last stand'...this is the sound of the death knell for nz racing. Don't kid yourself it aint.
  4. It looks like McNab and Harris spat the dummie before the virus shit hit, both were pissed off that they were doing the trackwaork and not getting the plum rides..both very capable riders too. The list looks a bit thin after them...DJohnson? SCollet?
  5. Dear Bernie and Dean et al.....so it appears that 1 July 2020 is the proposed first raceday? ( gallops)...pray tell me what steps are being taken between now and then to trim your budgets, for instance to stop the indiscriminate travel throughout NZ by people like stipe Oathum ( who apparently chooses to live in Christchurch, but still travels to Auckland/Hamilton almost weekly because he can), and other waste of travel etc by other industry participants..j.c.a., etc etc...and more importantly, how is the industry going to fund ANY races given that it is still over 2 months to a raceday/income AND your costs are daily spiralling out of control..as we speak??? AND it also appears that every dollar the whole industry spends on a daily basis now is borrowed...??
  6. It wasn't that long ago that Ellis was sprouting off about stakes in NZ being a minimum of $20,000. This was well before the virus hit, back when Ellis still thought the sun shone out of Winnies arse...as did Patrick Hogan and quite a few others who paid for NZFrist electioneering...gone very quiet now eh?
  7. Well said mate. It's extremely competitive over here, especially in Sydney. But at least you'll get a ' fair crack of the sav'...not like in NZ where the little minds rule.
  8. Good idea Chief..we might as well all join rita and bernie and become fucking dreamers, because thats what they are. Why do you think releasing the 'calendar' was necessary? Cos there aint any dough, clearly. The racing industry better hope that winnie tied one hell of a deal down with the other coalition losers after the election otherwise nz will be racing for fuck all, and you can quote me one that!?
  9. Winnie can't come to the phone right now..he's fishing.. Hang On!! he's not fishing, he's 'floundering'?
  10. Given that Group 1's in NZ will be at best $100k...a no brainer for Te akau
  11. As I said, its the number of employees that has to be reduced as much as the dollars paid. According to a post here, RITA has claimed the wage subsidy for....wait for it... 595 employees!! Wouldn't you like to see a listing of what all of these people do? No doubt many are necessary...but this many?
  12. I suggest you read what David Seymour of the Act Party, and Bridges have said about what could have taken place. There is and was no need to completely shut down a large number of businesses. NZ has been lucky in some respects because of our geographical situation in the World. Plus are relatively small population. It may become clearer in time but countries like Spain, Italy, France,UK and now USA have been hardest hit. There will be a common denominator. Getting back to NZ ardern seems extremely reluctant to take advice from any quarter. NZ did not need a lock down. Its interesting that ardern starts a lot of her 'broadcasts' with the word 'I' and not 'We'. Thats where the difference between her and Bridges, Seymour, Judith Collins etc is. I make no apologies for not being a socialist, idealist, call it what you like.
  13. Yes I agree Nomates. The administration of Nz racing is, and has been for some time, defunct. When Peters assumed the role of queenmaker at the last election he was full of promises. Remember the statement..'I know a dead horse when I see one'? So whats taken place since? He's replaced some dead horses with some more very, very ill horses in the shape of RITA. The old boys club struck again, can anyone tell us what Peter Vela is doing on RITA? McKenzie seems to be the only one with any sense, and thats saying something. Peters did the old politicians trick of setting up committees, enquiries etc..and as a result he has been caught very short handed now. In fact he's neutered because of this virus. I bet a lot of us are totally sick of hearing ' it's going to get better' from these twats, because it aint. Now the COL has a huge problem looming financially. As a result of arderns dictatorial and arrogant actions the country is going to be in a huge mess when the impact of her stupidity hits. Thousands and thousands of people are losing their jobs...many businesses are going to pull up stumps forever. And worse. there will be many mortgagee sales because in spite of saying 'we're here to help you' banks are not going to wait forever for mortgage payments. Remember ' lets do this'?? So what is she going to do when thousands of people realise how fucked they are financially? How much more borrowed money can labour hand out to try and keep in govt? The end result of this is..the racing industry will be at the end of any list when it comes to hand-outs etc...and unfortunately, so they should be.
  14. Pre Covid the racing industry in NZ was extremely ill, however there was a sliver of light in that racing was continuing and 'some' income was being generated via the TAB, however piss poor the racing was....since the Dictator imposed a lock down and racing ceased, that hope of income is almost non-existant. Racing here in NSW is on a knife edge, some trainers have their own testing regimes for the virus..one positive and its gone. Then the NZ TAB is defunct-no sport, no racing to speak of..and if this lock down in NZ is extended-which is almost certain-NZ racing will be 'bankrupt' in that there are no backstops, banks are owed millions and the debt is spiralling out of control. If RITA was a publicly listed company, the sharemarket would have been brutal news for anyone with shares i t. Who do we think will bail it out?
  15. The issues with RITA and the entities under it-NZTR, RIU, TAB,JCA, etc, is not just the amount of money paid out in salaries, fees, bonuses ( how the fck can anybody get a bonus these days?) but the number of employees these organisations have. Now is the time to systematically analyse each organisation and be critical in saying 'does the industry gain anything from the employment of this person'? If the answer is ' no' then goodbye was all she wrote?
  16. AIR NZ planning to make approx 380 pilots redundant...why? Planes aren't flying...no income....therefore no work for pilots...therefore you're goneburgers. # Compare this to the overinflated employee structure that RITA commands... No racing..therefore no income...but you can all still collect off the gravy express delivering every day. Anyone surprised? #..there is every chance that when Air NZ can start normal service they'll re-hire pilots again. But guess what? The terms of employment sure aint what they've been used to in the past. It'll be 'our way or the highway'..? Dean...Dean ...are you there Dean
  17. Just happened to look at the RITA website today and saw a recorded interview with McKenzie by Aiden Rodley. Looks like it was taped on Friday. Now, McKenzie seems like a fair sort of bloke, but its obvious that he and the rest of his Board haven't got a fucking clue as to how the racing industry in NZ will survive....talking about betting on Russian sport? Come on Deano, not your best shot. They're bleeding to the extent of AT LEAST one million bucks a week, and when Rodley asked him about staff cuts etc, McKenzie could only say he had taken a 'cut' and some staff had been told to use their leave? WTF? What the rest of us plebs want to hear is what about all the other staff at TAB/RITA/NZTR etc etc...with no racing how can 90% of them be paid anything? Let them survive on $570 a week like a lot of racing people who have completely lost their incomes...and we also want to hear about the restructuring that is absolutely necessary. Salaries and perks just have to either be reduced in a big way or sent packing altogether. So come on Dean, and I reckon you'll read this, we want to hear real plans, not sticking plaster over the big wounds mate. If the control freak cindy extends the lockdown I'd say racing is buggered and can anyone see the govt helping? Where's Winny, picking cockles at his private beach in Northland??
  18. Yeah well Winnie is being very quiet right now. I don't rate this feckin govt ( as I may have mentioned!) but at least a number of ministers have spoken about their portfolios..not the Racing Minister!! But you're right Chief...where is the money coming from? p.s. on a seperate issue, how are jockeys getting on? They're self employed or contractors, would they be eligible for some of the Commissariats hand outs?
  19. Victoria Racing: 50% prizemoney, income down= 50% staff reductions NZ Racing : No prizemoney, no income = all staff remain on full pay Guess who the fuckin suckers are?
  20. Best case scenario is for racing to resume in 6 months. and that may well be optimistic. So I'd think that RITA, the NZTR personnel, Boards of outfits like NZTR, HRNZ, GRNZ,RIU,JCA etc etc and salaried staff of all of them would be very, very apprehensive given that the whole racing industry in NZ is bleeding big time DAY BY Day. So the 1/2 yearly report probably isnt getting much traction Chief. NZ is going to be more of a basket case than it was looking like being under the COL anyway. Racing aint going to figure on any rescue package.!
  21. Cut him loose Chief...can't wait to read his conspiracy theories about covid-19....how it really started, is it an ISIS plot to rid the World of all the non believers....?
  22. Now is the perfect time to justifiably make a very large number of excess 'employees' redundant. The industry in NZ is clearly absolutely stuffed, not because of this virus, but because of the largesse of people with their tongues firmly entrenched in the trough. Time for a serious number of 'Con't Come Mondays'..and Tuesday, and any day that ends with a ' y' .
  23. I watched all the races in a pub just down the road from the track today. Looks like there was a hell of a leaders bias..in the Slipper the first few around the bend were the first few home..same in TeAkauSharks race. It looked like OP tried to get the horse handier because of the bias, even had him 3 wide for a while, still couldn't run past the first 2. I think he's being trained for the Queen Elizabeth in a few weeks, just looked a bit dour. However, maybe the track just played against a horse like him who usually lets down big time in the last 600m. OP got grilled by the feds about his ride but I reckon he couldnt do much about it given the way the track was playing.

  24. The lifeblood of racing ( gallops ) are horses. And owners to pay for them. Whatever takes place in the near future, and longer term, its pretty obvious that stakes are not going to increase; if anything they'll go down and the latest stuff up by the TAB ( as I posted earlier )is a harbinger of things to come. So costs to the owners have to be reduced. Unpalatable as it will be I think riding fees have to come down-better to have a job riding at a bit less per ride than no job at all!..nomination/acceptance fees scrapped, vets and trainers are going to have to scale back their charges...even if this virus disappeared tomorrow, the industry will still be in the crapper. I agree that a large number of staff at TAB/RIU/NZTR have to go. Thats a no brainer. So many people who do not contribute anything. I'm working on more....
  25. Are the feckin NZ TAB for real? When did this happen...who knew about it..RITA must have known, hence WPeters must have known? No wonder he's been very quiet lately. And the TAB go cap in hand expecting a handout? Really? Guess what. And no doubt someone from TAB/RITA etc reads these posts...how many $10,000 maiden races could have been made $20,000 with that $3.8m? How many decent $100,000k races could have been funded with that $3.8m? $3.8m clearly doesn't sound like much to these bozo's, but if that was distributed to racing ( gallops, harness and dogs) it would make a considerable difference. And you fuckwits blew it and clearly if it hadn't been for the current crisis, you would have ' hid ' it and said nothing. Empty your desks out and piss off, starting at the top of the bunch, RITA.
