  1. Looks to have a worthy replacment in George Elliot when the big Rac retires
  2. Take your pick his establishment had many choices.
  3. Unfortunately too much of his own product consumed
  4. Nah Too busy selling railway sleepers
  5. Are you referring to pacers and trotters or just trotters. The best driver of Trotters I beleive is Anthony Butt. Has outstanding record with some of NZs greatest trotters. Has them well balanced and lets them do their best themselves. Seldom beaten in a tight finnish. Also K ath Gath is very good on straight out trotters in Aus
  6. There is a Mountain to climb first and that in my opinion will be too steep for SS
  7. Dont forget Northam,Central Whealt Belt, Kilcoy , Kapunda, Redcliff, Wedderburn, Charlton or Boort not to menton Hamilton,Cobram, St Arnauld or Gounblower.
  8. Not quite Only got the trifector LOL. And what a great race to watch it was with the 3 very good fillies fighting it out. And then she trifecterd the 2yr old fillies final as well. What great breeding stock she has at her disposal for future dominance of the fillies and mares races. And to top the night off won the Derby for 3yr olds with Act Now bolting in and a 2nd (what a let down) in the 2 yr old colts final. An amazing nights training feat by the Best trainer in Aus and maybe NZ at least of juveniles.
  9. And yes I was. Not a big div but $3.40 was pretty good for what looked like a good thing.
  10. Actuelly caught my eye when I watched the race and reading your post just watched the race again. Was a very good run considering drew the outside of the 2nd row. Had nowhere to go except to the rear and was still last at the 400. Came the widest and finnished off very solidly for 6th. Hit the line so well she was 4th not far past the post. Definatly a win comming very shortly for her in a similar race or just away from the top male trotters. Hopefully I will be on.
  11. They are trained much harder in Aus, with heavy sand work and often run twice in a week and back up very quickly. You must get fitter the way they are raced and trained. As you know the races arent sit and sprint affairs like they are here in NZ, the parked position is a prime position and not a lot of horses will give that up. Unlike here when its called in the death and not many horses like it except those trained to be tough. Better than average NZ horses seem to thrive on the tough schedule in Aus. Its a wonder not more NZ trainers dont try and copy the Aus way of training in my humble opinnion. Would make racing more exciting than our norrmal follow the leader style where there are always plenty of "unlucky" runners. They dont die wondering in Aus
  12. 3rd tonight at Redcliff $3 odd the place
  13. Yes good luck to N Purdon and I wish him well. There are vacancies in Vic training now Emma Stewart has taken a step back along with several other trainers moving or doing the same. Im sure he will pick up ex nz horses and may even end up with a few of his dads clients well bred ones. I disagree thou that Luke John wasnt competative in NZ He only had 18 starts for 3 wins and 6 placings so had a 50% strike rate in the first three, Many of his later races have been against the top 3 yr olds ie Krug. It is no disgrace being placed to him. If he had raced thru the grades Im sure he would have won more and still been competative especially as he got older and matured. Tonight he is only racing in a $7000 race so is a big step down on his previous runs. He should win easily if he is going to become a very good horse in Aus as many ex pats do. Time will tell if he steps up or continues to race for minor stakes as he could have done in NZ. Will follow with interest.
