Are there signs of cracks in the Cambridge AWT training ranks?
nomates replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
The real test will be when they start racing on it , then the following meetings to see how many horses utilize it regularly , as in are competitive on the surface . -
He won a Thibenzole at Te Rapa and the George Adams at Trentham . Looked after Sharivari in his later years at stud , lovely old gentleman .
-
One things for sure , you never seen $1.65 favs in G1 races , or very very rarely .
-
Mop , Soliloquy , Balmerino , Ajasco , Good Lord . Crickey i could be hear all day . Mustn't forget my boy hood crush , Kings Romance , ah i'm getting all tingly .
-
For me , i simply ask myself the question , " if this person was riding in Australia , what level of racing would they be able to be competitive at ? " . Bosson for me is at the moment is the only NZ jock that could go straight over and pick up good race rides , the rest would have to prove themselves and i don't even know if there is a handful that could cut it in Sydney . Personally i think the vast majority are only of country standard .

The problem with making these races handicaps is that we have a large gap between our very best and the rest , plus our pool of the very best is not that big . So Avantage , with her record , would be weighted out of it and the G1 would be left to be fought out by a bunch of nice , but not top class horses , then could it still be called a genuine G1 . So we have to have these races at WFA or SW&P's to keep these top horses racing here . I remember when our top sprints and staying races had 10 or more horses of the quality of Avantage running in them . Feeling old .

For me the difference with the big jocks and the rest is decisions , they make more good ones , and fewer bad ones .

Ha , i'm part of that club , it's not exclusive to the SI i can assure you . Being a noddy nobody ensures that your instruction may as well be written on a kite and be flying over the race course . I've had a G1 rider do nothing i asked , then got off and proceded to suggest i try doing what i had just asked him to do . I checked both of ears and my lips to ensure that neither were painted on .

Well the value for me is knowing that my money is going to be given every opportunity to win , with OPB up the winning percentage is hugely increased as against all the others . Riding at better than 1 in 4 says it all for me .

If he had been on Brando today he would have moved much earlier than Danielle , would have only been 3or 4 lengths off Balham turning in , different story , glad he wasn't . TA will be pissed , wanted Savabeel G1 colt . People will say " oh , he'll get one " , well i've heard that sooo many times , next time , next time , racing doesn't work that way .

Wellesley Stakes: "Not a lot of upside to the Winner"

Not a 2yo for mine , i would find a 1200 then a 1400 and try and get a win and put him aside , make a cracking 3yo . Didhams horse the same , i think he is even leggier than Titled . -

I thought the Didham and Benner horses were a shade disappointing , and the 2nd horse had been whipped at Te Rapa , so not sure of the form . -
He was a very good stallion , as for tales , not here .

As usual in racing to do with a horse . -

The winners of the Classic , Benner and Wynard are well ahead in the strike rate table , very good trainers and their jock L Allpress right up if not better than Miss Johnson , Lisa would do well in Aus , very professional and tough as old boots . Watch both trainers and jockey . -
Sounds like D Johnson got a rev up over the Brando ride , too slow to see what was unfolding up front . I was a happy punter , i've been on Bonham from the start , top class filly . Over the odds last week , well over the odds today .

I wont have a decent bet unless it is something that OPB is on , anyone else i can't trust . To suggest a SI rider is in the same class or better is leaving you open to being sectioned .

Yea , had to be on my toes when grooming him , he would slowly inch around to try and get me on the wall to then have a crack , nearly got me the first time , second i seen it coming . Was a pain to get halter on and bring in at night , couldn't go on paddock to get him , he had to come to gate , wouldn't once , no way was he coming to the gate so i left him out for the night , no dinner , didn't do it again . Could tell you plenty more about him , but not here .

Well just showed the stands and grassed area , and looks like not many arrived after the 1st race , 15 mins to the telegraph and the place is deserted , even the members stand . It's pretty sad to see .
-
Could well be , but then he is a son of Zabeel and grandson of Sir T . Another son of Sir T was Grosvenor , and he could be a bit of a prick .

Hope they sold him as such , tough pitch to prospective buyers . Was a brave effort , i wouldn't mind him in my stable , hopefully surprises them . Toughness and genuine , takes them a long way , just ask Tavi Mac . -
Not the greatest but hasn't been the strongest race for many seasons , but for all that the undercard is great , good sized fields and even betting . The non racing public don't know the quality of the races so don't know why crowd so poor .

Andrew Calder has just said the inside is a little off , and i thought that Lisa Allpress was a little careful with what she said after the first . Had a look and on NZTR they applied 12mls on Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs . They do appear to be marking it a little , but for all that i think it appears to be reasonably fair across the track . Loving the racing so far .

Ya love it , stop moaning .
