Did they not bother to advertise that a big race day was on at Trentham today . I know it's early , but that crowd is pitiful . 2 G1's and the undercard is pretty bloody good , so what is wrong ?
-
Depends on what you want to achieve in life , probably less grief on BOAY .
-
A Savabeel that can perform as he did as a 2yo is exactly what should be standing in NZ . Wonder if it was no one in NZ wanted him or TA sold to highest bidder . I would be surprised if none of the big ones wanted him . I would like to think that they would have taken a bit less to get him a home in NZ , for the best interests of NZ breeding and racing . Perhaps there are issues around him , but then Newhaven aren't mugs .
-
Does it matter , you wont actually have to achieve anything , well seemingly nothing .
-
As you say the large majority of horses bleed into the lungs after a race , with no indication that it has , but i have seen quite a few get off the truck at home after the races where the stress of the drive home has brought blood up . Not 100% , but i would suspect that these " bleeders " weren't reported .

We are working in a very small pool at the bottom of a very deep barrel . NZTBA is that the arm of the industry that carries as much weight and say as any poster on BOAY . Perhaps we should have nominated The Chief for a seat , seems anybody can get on now .
-
You would be surprised at the feeling toward the O'S stable when they were high flying . But that is natural human nature along with the Tall Poppy syndrome at work . Not everyone but there were plenty looking for them to fall over , lots of tales and stories done the rounds when i was in Matamata thru the 80's . Don't know of any that i heard were true tho . Didn't stop it happening .

I think they have jumped the gun here , basically telling the jury it's nothing to worry about so just say " not guilty . The only thing i can think of , and it's just a guess , she had been possibly receiving some form of pain relieve , and some residue was still in her system . This is pure conjecture tho .

Could someone who understands science tell in what forms morphine can come in what form they would be used in the making of feed that could lead to a " feed irregularity ".
-
Be interesting to see how they argue how morphine got into feed . Feel for connections .

The millions has been shifted around to suit when NZB chooses to have their sale , has been getting run a week later in January in more recent years , don't know the reason why they brought forward this year . If they don't want an anniversary meeting they should just run it over 2 weekends as you suggest .
-
With this type of race you will always get an average year . Have you noticed that as a rule it is generally the fillies that handle the pressure cooker prep for it and have kicked on as older horses . The colts that have performed in it haven't turned into much . Haven't even heard of Cool Aza Beel since he won last year , anybody got info on him ?
-
Well now as a rule our best horses are nearly always mares because every colt and gelding with any breeding or colt is sold out of the country , god forbid where we would be without Te Akau , they may not be every ones cuppa tea but there methods keep blood in the country . Imagine what the millions races would have been like without them .
-
We have a lot of JUST races that weren't always .
-
I may be called the Wellesley but it is just a 2yo race , and yet again we are just handing out black type with the cornflakes . It's actually becoming a farce .

Last time was 2015 , then Woodville for 2 years , then no meeting 2018 , then at Otaki last 2 years . 2016 they went 3 Saturdays in a row which is when the whole Wgtn Cup carnival started to become less relevant as the focus went on the millions , and even which 3 Saturdays has been mucked around with . 3 meetings over 3 Saturday doesn't work , trainers , owners etc all came down and stayed the week whe it was run over the week , it was a carnival . Maybe it's just me but this meeting just seems to be becoming less and less relevant , after day one everybody's focus shift north for the millions and then it's " oh do we really have to head back down there ". If it has to work around the other meeting then just make it a 2 day meeting . And i'm not bashing the millions meeting , it is a relevant race day now in it's own right , but for gods sake there has to be some sense of history to our racing .
-
These dates have nothing to do with Covid , they are the same dates as we have been running for a number of seasons . The only change has been the regular mucking around of the Wgtn cup meeting which has been chopped around to whatever suits the millions , it used to be an ICONIC meeting , hard to believe . Then you have the absolute stupidity of having no race meeting in the CD on Wgtn Anniversary Monday , don't tell me they couldn't have put on a low key meeting at Otaki or Tauherenikau , captive audience but nowhere to go . BUt it's OK we can all traipse up to Matamata for our anniversary meeting . I've given up on any common sense being applied .

" Technically Debt free " , WTF does that mean , i'm no big knob business man , so perhaps if we have one that posts on here they could clarify . Can i therefor assume i'm technically a millionaire if all my assets accumulate to more than a million ? By saying the second most wealthiest club in the country is he giving that kudos to MRC or RACE and the multitude of offspring clubs ?

On what that horse showed the other day i would suggest he is their best , won on his ear , pulling up after being 3 wide , first start drew wide and still got over to lead , not one dimensional and tough . I personally really liked what i seen from K Rae horse last start , was the eye catcher in that race .
-
He's the only one that could make it in Sydney or Melbourne , Waddell until the brain fart was the only other with the ability . Other than Opie i wont have a decent punt on any other jock in NZ , i have found i just can't trust the rest .
-
Be a bit rough on Parksy if he gets the drag . For his sake i hope he keeps the ride and wins , good guy .
-
They are 2 x 1mil races , Te Akau want to win them , and i reckon they are twice as likely to win with OPB up as not . " There's only one Opie Bosson " , is the catch cry .
-
They will only get the answers to all those questions by asking all facets of the industry , this is where it will fall short IMO . The so called power brokers of the game will feel that they can speak for everybody . A serious change in mentality is required , let's hope it happens .
-
If it is done in full consultation with all parts of the industry and everybody understands that the result will be what is in the best interests of all the industry and within budget constraints , then it shouldn't be an issue , but as we all know self interest will certainly raise it's ugly head. Look at the Wellington cup carnival , what a shit fest that has become , all to accommodate a sales race . I'm not against the millions , been to them as a punter and a strapper , fantastic meeting in all facets , but should one of our iconic meetings be carved up the way it has . Can't believe the WRC has allowed this to happen . Is this really in the best interests of the whole industry ?
