  1. Maybe it is , but at least someone can try and make their first post a positive contribution .
  2. That's ok , looking forward to you posting plenty of winners before the races are run .
  3. Your first post on this site and that's what you contribute , looking forward for your next insightful post .
  4. If the hierarchy have any level of competency no one should have to start a petition to sort it out . A professional outfit would have it sorted . I'm not a trotting man but i always watch the big races , that was by far the biggest shambles of a start i have seen in the cup . Obviously something has changed with standing starts , i used to always see horses standing at the tape ready to step away when it sprung , but now i have noticed a lot more horses almost rolling up anticipating the tape . Maybe that is the accepted method now .
  5. No this poster states that they intend to continue as a racing venue , unless i'm reading it wrong .
  6. So Greg , how is the trotting game treating you , you didn't last at galloping because the tracks kept getting wet , your getting pissed at the starter and commentators at the trots . Time to give the greyhounds a bash eh , at least you'll have something in common with the dogs , they YAP a lot to .
  7. And right on cue to prove my point , if anyone is consistent it is your highness .
  8. You guys should try dealing with him on the galloping thread where he knows even less than he does about trotting . Just a sanctimonious knowitall git .
  9. Don't ARC have $50mil in the bank ? that's the figure i heard .
  10. Apparently they are going to continue as a racing facility as well , 12 days per season , mostly industry days . That is from a committee member on the other site .
  11. Ha , if you don't know what the PGF is and what it's purpose is would be the only explanation as to why you don't know why it is a head scratcher . But then if you don't look too far past how the A/W will serve yourself then you wouldn't want to know what the PGF is for and why it has been used erroneously in this and Palmerston North's instance . But perhaps if you don't understand why it is a head scratcher it is because you know the reasons why two cities were given this funding that the rest of us don't , please enlighten us .
  12. This is exactly my point , all of us in fact have been saying for ages , why spend $15mil at Palmy on an A/W or Riccarton . Do what they are doing up north , close them and put in a Strathayr , it's a no brainer for mine . But that doesn't give the trainers what they have all been banging on about and praising the A/W's for , TRAINING and TRIALING , they don't really give a shit about the racing aspect , they might say they do but deep down they know that all that matters for them is training and trialing . Putting in Strathayr's doesn't give them that all year round top quality training track . And i get that , but for all round betterment of NZ racing , putting in Strathayr's is the winning option .
  13. Wouldn't this be much better for NZ racing if we were talking about this being an excessive gambling issue . I would be interested to know how much these party goers spend on gambling as opposed to drinking . Do clubs even care .
  14. The centralization of racing begins , if they go ahead with the Greenfields in the Waikato and put a Strathayr in and have Cambridge with their A/W , that's about all that will be needed for northern racing . Not against this in principle but they must allow some provincial racing to co exist . As for the central districts are they going to put in a Strathayr at Awapuni or Trentham , or build their own Greenfeilds project . I would prefer a new track myself , keep Palmy if they must and some provincials . Will be interesting , i wonder if improving CD racing much more than the A/W is even on the radar . Could the plan be that majority of NI racing is based north of Taupo , would not surprise me . CD racing has been on the decline for 20 years .
  15. Bit dramatic , it's was misinformation . To lie is to convey with deliberate intent to mislead . Hardly that . But you do win the cookie point .
  16. It sounds like they are trying to sell the dream .
  17. I just don't get where the financial windfall for racing is coming from , otherwise what is the point of them , i'm sure they could have upgraded the training tracks at all 3tracks for a fraction of the cost .
  18. At least it wont be the greyhound track that the Palmy one will , not even convinced that the Cambridge one isn't going to be a bit tight .
  19. Friggen hard enough to work out which of his 3/4 horses in each race is gona win . As for a plan , too right he has and so far it's all falling into place .
  20. It's a smart arse , i'm sweet response . The modus operandi that has fecked NZ racing . It's always been the type of response from those in the industry that are happy as long as they are sweet , without any acknowledgement to what is required for the future .
  21. And yet again a statement of intellect and self service , you will be happy man i'm sure . Will you be sparing any though for those that are at tracks that are to be closed because of this , the stress they will be under because they may have a training facility that is now redundant , but was their lives and which they now have to convince some one to purchase at a price that allows them to move on with their live . That's before worrying that they might have to find new employment or relocate their family from family and what might have been the only lives they have known . But SURPRISE , SURPRISE !! your and yours are sweet .
  22. Yet again training and trialing are placed ahead of actual racing , " and racing in the South " almost reads as an addendum . Every press release or statement i have read about all 3 A/W tracks has spotlighted the training and trialing uses of the A/W's ahead of the racing . As of yet no one , and i mean no one has been able to answer the elephant in the room , " where is the financial gain for NZ racing in the construction of these tracks ? " . Everything that racing does now and in the immediate future should been done purely for financial gain to help the industry get back on it's feet and prosper going forward . Some may ask , " How do i know they wont ? " , i don't , but i'm not building them and those that are have yet to produce a sound financial business plan , that i have seen or heard of , that gives any surety that the building of these tracks is going to be the financial boon that we so require .
  23. I find interesting that they can find the extra millions to build the A/W but haven't bothered to get the redundant grandstand fixed or replaced which would allow extra patrons on course , including families , when the big races are on . Or do they think they make sufficient from the alcohol sales to cover any lost revenue from other streams .
  24. Hey , those grandstands are full twice a years with pissed students , well worth the money . They have fundamentally given up on the product or the state of the track , it's make hay while the sun shine mentality , and that hay is alcohol . They are just compounding the issue around a lack of punters , the circle just keeps decreasing .
  25. I don't go to the races anymore because it is plain fecking boring , the product is poor most of the time . Everytime the races are on at Otaki or Palmy i think i might go but by the the day before and i have had a look at the fields i just think nah , i'll be bored shitless , have to kill 30 mins between races , hardly anybody there and all the faces i used to catch up with don't bother anymore either , which was the best bit , having a catch up and having a natter . Saying that i am seriously thinking of dropping in at the Levin meeting at the end of the month . Still 3 weeks to go tho , long time for me to change my mind .
