  1. This is part of the problem , as much as racing is an industry they have forgotten that is supposed to be fun and a sport , not just business decisions based around profits .
  2. Whatever happened to designated family areas , these kids are the next generation . We have already lost a generation through neglect , let's not compound it for the sake of the quick buck .
  3. Just lost 9kgs in the last few months , down to 89kg , what's your minimum over there ? p.s. do have to bring the wife ?
  4. I've got up this morning and the only MC story is the jocks getting heavy fines and suspensions for whip abuse . Saying that we don't help ourselfs , just because it's a huge race doesn't mean normal rules go out the window .
  5. Showed AVD breaking down on the TV1 news with a spotlight on him with his fractured leg swinging around , i thought it was just a despicable and inflammatory thing to highlight at dinner time . Kids and teenagers could well have seen it , absolutely no need , but sensationalism is what it's all about now .
  6. Brutal race .
  7. Budget presentation .
  8. Ok so that has changed , interesting that it has seeing as they were always so strong about the D4 . I have no problem with a G3 . Trying to manage it to have a D4 was always a guessing game regarding watering , and we have seen many occasions where it was got wrong .
  9. Protocol is for a D4 at the beginning of the meeting .
  10. Don't hold your breath waiting for consistency across the board . Ellerslie today has come up with a G3 to start the day , which goes against NZTR protocols of starting the day with a D4 , go figure . The only reason the CJC are giving out so much information for this meeting is to ensure all the big northern stables are happy after the hard track a month ago .
  11. I'm in .
  12. There is a documentary on Maori TV tonight , 8.30pm , called Dark Horse , fantastic watch about a bunch of working class people who breed and race a horse in the UK , funny , exciting , emotional , but overall a great story of horse racing and peoples love for their horse . Enjoy .
  13. Never seen so much reporting on one track leading up to meeting , obviously a nerve was exposed .
  14. Add to the stake or just have a pool for paying starters , it's robbing Peter to pay Paul FFS . We are supposed to be incentivizing people to keep racing horses , and the positive was paying a starters incentive , OH but we are going to pay you less for winning . If ever we needed proof of how empty our coffers are this is it . While the starters payment is something i have wanted for years , there is no point doing it if you can't afford it , better off staying with status quo . Maybe if they had taken 10% off the top end races we would have had a pool to help make these payments to some of the battlers that are looking for a reason to stay in the game . But no , they start making starters payments but basically say it has to fund itself . Pointless exercise .
  15. Took a completely positive move and undermined it by taking it out of the winners prize , brain dead decision . Suppose it was too much to expect them to get something completely right .
  16. Well Pukekohe has started the day a G3 , what happened to tracks having to start the day D4 , i suspect no one is in control . No consistency .
  17. Wouldn't know but i'm sure H & S are having a good hard look at the practice . Went years without them and sure the outside got utilized , but certain trainers started moaning about the galloping strip that's why they started getting used . They have used them at Levin J/O's in the past , particularly when the retirement village was under construction . Not a fan of they're use my self , always thought any decent jock can make sure they don't drive too wide , not like there's money up .
  18. My guess is not one of the starters or gates team , it would be funny if not so sad at the incompetence .
  19. Don't worry about reporting track conditions , how about they get the gates in the right starting position , Ash r3 , they obviously need to get a bigger 1200mtr marker . Keystone cops .
  20. Foskett
  21. Wanganui's jumps day on Sunday has been canned due to insufficient entries , 14 across 4 jumping races , with some of those double nom's . I believe they were told to programme earlier but decided not to , this meeting is about getting horses a jumping race in before going for a spell then getting prepared for next season . Obviously most felt it was too late with a good chance of a firm track . But what would the participants know .
  22. I would suggest they just didn't want to run today as heavy rain was forecast only for today , and has arrived , hence cutting up the track . Plenty of times in the past they have watered the day before trials when no rain forecast , so with Thursday free have allowed mother nature to water the track and a day to dry a bit . I have no issue with it as long as plenty of notice is given , which it was in this case . As for standards , as far as i have seen it's every man ( track ) for themselves . Our tracks are too munted to get perfectly manicured race day tracks .

    Marine

This is a very nice horse , once he learns to settle and gets the jist of his job he'll be fine , but for how long on our shores .
  24. The word work suggests some effort and thought has gone into the production of TS , i would think not .
  25. I recorded it , on ts 2 because that was the channel the TAB site said it was being shown , if i had known i would have recorded ts 1 , obviously . Can only work with the information given . So why were they saying 2 when it was on 1 , they don't make it easy , chopping changing channels on any given day or any given meeting for that matter . Not hard to give some consistency .
