  1. Those days off will probably cost her $5-7000 in lost earnings. Far better for her to have been ordered to pay a fine to the connections and be allowed to go on riding. The aggrieved punters would be happy to have one of the very best riders in the country riding at Ellerslie and she adds glamour as well. As it is she will be home worrying about the mortgage.
  2. It was a very logical bet -even I managed back it.
  3. The bad luck for Cambridge Stud continues.
  4. A very severe penalty which shows a lack of understanding by the stipes. There is plenty of wrongdoing going on that seems to get ignored.
  5. A naïve young man -youthful folly -ffs, a 27 year old !
  6. Poor ride, good horse probably better with an easy /slow track
  7. Racing is an income earner for Govt, but some seem to promote a myth that things are otherwise.
  8. Surely the use of a phone is a basic human right -It is only in the fly blown land that they have skippy courts and presume everyone is descended from Ned.
  9. The NZTR Owners settlement account refers solely to 'Owners' -be they accountants fishmongers or trainers. They are Owners. Trainers debts -some large, are for track fees.
  10. My blue -she ran as if she had been flattened by a hard run.
  11. It would be a duplication of tasks and would create problems -better the trainer deals direct with the local staff rather than having to go to NZTR for any query, and NZTR then go to local staff. who go to the trainer . then they report back to NZTR who return to the trainer.
  12. It is a variable charge -not just a daily rate but $$ more if you use the grass for a gallop.
  13. It is generally known as 'second up syndrome'. Was ridiculously short odds.
  14. Logically it is a trainers basic cost just like feed. Some trainers do not utilize public training tracks but have their own. It would be a duplication of work to have club staff noting which horse was using their facilities each day and then passing that information onto NZTR.
  15. A woftam -print is too small to read and colour garish. I won't buy again.
  16. Trainers pay track fees -$200 a month roughly -and recoup from owners, Does not take long to mount up.
  17. It worked well in the past.
  18. What does Mr Ellis have to do with matters ? He is not the owning syndicate's manager or the trainer of the horse.
  19. The real issue must be how do you manage to get Samantha to shut up ? She is a bit chirpy .
  20. It is a lot to do with the current practice of having horses locked away in boxes [barns] and their hooves are tender as a result. Thus these barn trained horses jar up if faced with a normal hard and fast track.
  21. Actually I did race a horse that had not been branded -bought at a RTR sale , trialled and off to the races. Strangely no one had noticed! [me especially ] Conference wrote telling me to get him branded but officials in the area told me not to as fire branding an older horse was extremely painful and that 'conference' would eventually forget matters. That is what happened and he raced on. We breeders have had to pay for both chipping and branding for years now -the situation is stupid. Can chips be removed and inserted in another horse ? probably. And there goes the integrity guaranteed by branding.
  22. NOT DEAD -still in front 50 yards out. 4th beaten noses. The other bookies followed Bills lead and I went down the line getting 50s and 100s on. Dutch courage courtesy of Tooheys and spondulicks from one of Jack O'Briens Amura horses down in Melbourne
  23. One of the best bookies and surely the biggest. I remember at Rosehill one day I had a wee liking for a Copenhagen 11 horse who had won fresh up in NZ -it was fresh and 200/1 so I put $200 on it and watched to see if it affected the price, Bill turned it out to 300/1, gave a smile and asked if I wanted to go again .
  24. Why would you put a horse in a dusty box ? there are alternatives at Te Rapa and if it was too cold for a yard why not dampen the sawdust ? Who was the trainer?
  25. Knowing D Ryan I expect editorial independence. A form guide and industry comment is needed.
