    The Racing Board

Robust debate is to be encouraged, but FFS do it without the vile personal abuse. One of the reasons this site was started was because of the sanctioned extreme personal abuse on Race Cafe, mainly from you know who, which I see still continues
  2. You're in good company then Mine, N1MUE and The Crucibles mailboxes got deleted ages ago, and it would not surprise me if they have been looked at first. Invision, the company that do the software for BOAY and RC, will tell you that it is possible for administrators to look at PM's, not that I am saying they do.
  3. I can confirm this, as the request(from Dark Beau) initially came to me, as they were having difficulty loading the pic they wanted for their avatar
  4. Just re-reading this, the concern here, is that if your avatar has been changed by someone other than you, then the person doing it, are they able to do it without logging into your account, and does this also mean that the person doing it, can they also access private personal mail?
  5. You might recall VS, this song was used by Hertz Rental cars in the "Love Hertz" ad
  6. You got it Brodie, slowly the good people in Racing are coming to appreciate quality, only the morons and bigots left, but it is like that cheese advert, good things take time If people really knew what went on at that site, most would leave overnight, even the most faithful would draw the line.......except for the morons and bigots of course
  7. We are probably all meaning well, but to a large extent we are not experts I dug this up from the NZ Herald, 21 Dec 2016, you would have thought this guy would know, was there ever any recommendations that came out of this. Last Saturday's abandonment of Awapuni's $100,000 Manawatu Cup day, later reinstated as a postponement until Sunday, has cranked up awareness of repeating problems and at 10am today a meeting has been called to examine the causative factors leading to the problem. At that meeting will be trainers, jockeys, club representatives, Integrity Unit representatives, racing stewards and the special guest will be one of the world experts on track maintenance, John Jeffs. He was the longtime track curator at Sydney's Rosehill course before moving to the same position in Hong Kong.
  8. Now when Mk2Zephyr reads the title to this thread, he will adopt you as his long lost racing brother, until he reads the thread, then....
  9. From the same impeccable source that said Clayton Mitchell was going to be the new Racing Minister
  10. A lot of water in May/June? More than most places in NZ get in a year
  11. Hong Kong season is from Sept to mid July SUMMARY OF FIXTURES 2017-2018 Shatin 45 Day meetings 5 Night Happy Valley 1 day 37 night From HK Observatory, Rainfall data for 2017(mm) Jan - 8 Feb - 20 Mar - 48 Apr - 59 May - 399 June - 656 July - 570 Aug - 489 Sept - 192 Oct - 100 Nov - 31 Dec - trace From that you can see they are racing in May/June/July, months with heavy rainfall
  12. M&M's ???? I knew they were pretty wet, but didn't realise they were there. You been on the plonk again Chief, get the missus to give you a massage with lavender oil, very relaxing
  13. I recall, and as long as my memory is not affected by alcohol or glory, that I looked up the rainfall data and racing dates for Hong Kong(Shatin) once, and while their season stops before the monsoons come, it is still a lot of rain during the racing season
  14. Racing: Underthemoonlight to take well-worn path to Group One target 11 Jun, 2018 5:00am 2 minutes to read Underthemoonlight. Photo / Race Images Other An aborted attempt at a Brisbane Group One feature will play in the favour of local race fans when classy mare Underthemoonlight heads to Tauranga in a fortnight to defend her Listed Woburn Farm Classic crown. The underrated El Hermano mare overcame topweight of 60kgs and a handy field to score a courageous win over 1400m at Te Rapa on Saturday. The victory has part-owner Hamish McQuade looking forward to the Tauranga challenge although thinking about what might have been with slightly better timing. "That was a top win on Saturday as we thought she still might have been a run short and she had to give the rest of them weight as well," he said. "I guess her affinity with Te Rapa played in her favour and the fact is that she is a pretty classy mare. She can be underrated at times and people do want to pigeonhole her as a wet-tracker, but she really goes best when there is just some cut in the ground. "We had wanted her to run a week earlier as we did have plans to take her to Brisbane for the Tatts Tiara, but the timing just didn't work out. "She will go to Tauranga in a fortnight for the fillies and mares race that she won last year and then have a wee break," said McQuade. "We will bring her back for the Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa, a race she also won last year, and then on to the [G1] Tarzino Trophy at Hastings. - NZ Racing Desk
  15. Just a point here, they race in places like Shatin, that is in the monsoon belt and gets many many times more rainfall than NZ(West Coast excluded, no disrespect Reefton), because they have an all weather track, Strathayr to be exact..................and Shatin is built on reclaimed land
  16. And we a still waiting for the Jewels comp winner to surface.
  17. Well the Messara report is due in July, and while everyone is saying it will focus on costs and a new sustainable model for Racing, perhaps he just might devote a section towards getting people back oncourse for the bigs days and carnivals
  18. Knowing him, he'd have a little camera with face recognition capability, he'd then find out everyone who ever threw anything at him, ring them up and abuse the crap out of them
  19. Once upon a time There were 10,000 Barry's in NZ, keen oncourse enthusiasts, that would never miss a meeting in the region. I used to be one of them. What do we have now, maybe 500.
  20. Ellerslie used to get 20-25,000 oncourse on Boxing Day not so long ago, when they had the infield open to picnics and boot parties Used to love it, a relaxing day after Xmas Day
  21. Their heavy must be a lot different to our heavy(a Trentham type heavy), as the times were 7-8 seconds faster. The Stradbroke for instance was won in a 1400m equivalent of 1.23!
  22. Just shows you can't suppress idiocy and ineptitude
  23. The Baker/Forsman juggernaut rolls on, 4 winners today, daylight back to second and more daylight back to third, Michael Pitman, who on 64 wins is exactly half of the Baker/Forsman total, even though he is having a great season, and is already ahead of his best tally in 5 years with 7 weeks to run. New York Minute, along with Art Deco, probably the best H15 horses in NZ. Even with that Trentham mud pie NYM, could still run 1.16.85 for 1200 Underthemoonlight, well and truly overs today. I recall Karyn McQuade saying a couple of years ago, that even with the good heavy track stats, the horse was better on a soft track
  24. I knew she had something to do with cakes, and I thought you might have got your rhyming slang wrong TC, so I looked it up and much to my surprise, found this Betty Crocker A chick who is ALWAYS ready to SPREAD for your FROSTING!
