  1. The Harmful Digital Communications Act, allows for posts to be removed that breach any of the 10 communication principles, namely 1. disclose sensitive personal facts about an individual; 2. be threatening, intimidating, or menacing; 3. be grossly offensive to a reasonable person in the position of the affected individual; 4. be indecent or obscene; 5. be used to harass an individual; 6. make a false allegation; 7. contain a matter that is published in breach of confidence; 8. incite or encourage anyone to send a message to an individual for the purpose of causing harm to the individual; 9. incite or encourage an individual to commit suicide; or 10. denigrate an individual by reason of his or her colour, race, ethnic or national origins, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability. But, I'm not sure, within the Act, what provisions there are for taking action against a site owner that consistently and selectively condones the above principles. Perhaps someone with a good legal mind could elaborate
  2. Hear what you guys are saying about multis. My standard bet maybe 3 times a week used to be a $200 all up place bet on 3-4 horses, all faves. Used to get enough to keep me interested. The whole point was not so much the making money but the excitement of the bet, going into the last leg, knowing you had $1200 on a 1.50 place chance, because I sure as hell was never going to put $1200 otherwise on at 1.50.
  3. Ditto Some great camera work, first time up to speed on the beach Now that would have to be the greatest story in the history of racing in NZ, why did it take them 35 years to tell. The sort of story that portrays racing in such a great light

    Today is D Day

Spare a thought, that as we write, the immensely tricky and dangerous operation is underway to try and bring out those 12 young boys and their coach from the flooded underground cave in Thailand.
  5. The thing that really amuses me, as I'm sure it does many others, and I had this discussion with him a few times, is that, the line back then was "This is my site, it costs me money to give you people the privilege to have your say, if you don't like it leave"...............so I did Now, as the situation becomes more dire He is all over the posters on his site that decrease in number everyday, all of a sudden comps are important etc etc Don't ever forget Scoobs, it's the many and varied posters that make a site, NOT you
  6. Where are you Steve, still hungover. I thought you would have been all over this thread like a rash. Not a huge football fan, but I would have thought England are better off against Croatia. Russia's show, so may have been a lot more pressure
  7. You guys are just sour that you wont get a shot at that Fiji trip
  8. James welcomes another young talent 6 July 2018, 12:44 p.m. Successful Cambridge horseman Roger James is continuing to give the new generation opportunities to make their mark in New Zealand racing. To this end, he will begin the 2018-19 season in a training partnership with his current racing manager Robert Wellwood. Roger James (right) with his soon to be training partner Robert Wellwood Photo: Trish Dunell “I’ve had Ross Taylor, Lance Noble and Leanne Bertling in partnerships in the past and they’ve all gone on to successful levels,” James said. “Rob’s been with me for going on two years and he’s got a passion for the industry and he’s a very good people person.” James, who has trained over 1000 winners and nearly 30 Group One winners across Australasia including Silent Achiever and Zonda, is keen to pass on his knowledge to the future generation. “Rob’s a very good horseman and I’m proud to bring him into partnership,” he said. “It’s not an easy game and I’m happy to give the younger people a chance.” Wellwood has become a familiar figure at New Zealand race meetings and also gained overseas experience this season when he accompanied the James-trained siblings Von Tunzelman and Sherrif, both owned by Cambridge Stud principles Brendan and Jo Lindsay, on Australian campaigns. “It has been a lifetime dream of mine to be a trainer and it’s come true,” Wellwood said. The 23-year-old’s interest in thoroughbreds was sparked at an early age. “My grandfather has been a member of the Hawke’s Bay Racing Club for a long time and I used to watch the racing with him,” Wellwood said. “Since I’ve become involved he’s sold his farm and has taken shares in a few horses as well. “As a kid I had huge aspirations of being a top jockey, but my dream was shattered pretty early on when I passed the six-foot mark as an early teen.” Wellwood subsequently enjoyed stints at Windsor Park Stud and at Lime Country Thoroughbreds, then based in the Hawke’s Bay. “Then, when I was studying at university I also rode trackwork for Tony Pike,” he said. “After graduating I struck it lucky with Roger,” he said. “I started with him in December 2016 and he’s willing to pass on his knowledge. Hopefully, it’s going to be the start of a good career.” Wellwood completed a Bachelor of Business Analysis, majoring in Finance, and is keen to use his academic skills in his future training career, a background James believes will be of major benefit. “I’m enjoying the more modern approach and enthusiasm Rob brings to the business,” he said. “The industry is a lot different to when I started off with Jim Gibbs. Results aren’t enough these days and you really have to go out and sell yourself and Rob can do that. “He’s got a thirst for learning and a formal education that will see him go far.” - NZ Racing Desk.
  9. Be wary As per usual, NZTR have had the track as S7 since 8 this morning TAB, it has been S8 all day With sun and no rain today or forecast tomorrow, it may even come back to a D6
  10. Kiwi with Ewan Lupton (played by Nick Blake) Sunday Theatre: Kiwi Sunday 8 July, 8.30pm on TVNZ 1 The remarkable story of Kiwi the horse, who ran from last place to first, to win the 1983 Melbourne Cup. Kiwi's journey is the stuff of legend. This Sunday Theatre special tells the tale of how that win came about, and what it meant to so many people.
  11. I have to say that I have been burned by FF place multis a few times, so I avoid them and go with all up on the tote. Firstly, you can never find out online what the deductions are for scratchings, so have to ring up the TAB Secondly, you get a late scratching, regardless, your FF price is adjusted downwards accordingly and usually you end up well below the tote price, which has had time to partially adjust back up Used to run comparisons on the same bet, FF vs tote, and the tote usually came out well in front
  12. Yep, he put $500 in each year to that comp, for several years, and for his efforts got banned What sort of egg does that, then has the temerity to spout about loyalty. I hope he does come on board, you won't get banned here Chris
  13. Is anyone able to contact him He used to run an iconic Melbourne Cup comp on RC, pick the first 3 home in order, the prize was $500, until he got(surprise surprise) banned. The last one he ran, he got 120 entries. I remember it well, as when I mentioned it on RC, I also got banned............touchy fellow Appropriate timing, with the one way ticket to a warm place(Hell), coming up. Perhaps anyone that knows him, would be kind enough to pass on a message, that he would be welcome to run his comp again on BOAY. If he doesn't, then we will probably run it anyway, just giving him first option
  14. Steve, did you manage to watch the biopic called 'Bobby' on Rialto tonight, about the life of Bobby Moore. Incredible historic footage of the 66 World Cup, to go with what turned out to be a sad story. A true giant in English football, yet so badly treated by the FA and West Ham after his career was in decline. The biopic gives you an understanding of just how fanatical and how ingrained football is in England
  15. Hi Scoob, sooner or later people involved with the whole thing are goin to get pissed at the rubbish these guys are spouting and they will be routed out and I would say slander & defamation will be the order of the day for the lot of em.......I would imagine they're bein watched as we speak, I just don't get why? jealousy is a very negative wasteful emotion no point to it, and it's not like the process is not available to all trainers out there right? so whats the point? just pissin n moanin, and they would probably do it even if there was nuthin to moan about oiy vey Cheers Iraklis Couldn't help but think the writing style is reminiscent of someone near and dear to us all
  16. Gonna be one hell of a ride for you Steve, if this morning is anything to go by
  17. Take your pills Porty TV 1 Sunday Theatre 8 July 8.30
  18. Yep, that's why I asked Tom if he minded putting up the details of his place multi, so we could pick it to bits and see if it all made sense
  19. Do you mind putting up what your place multi was There are a few on here very adept at figures and odds, so perhaps we can get to the bottom of it
  20. Nurse Kitchen and Tumultuous were normal scratchings, but even then, not enough to reduce your all up place multi by so much
  21. Mathematical impossibility Say you multiplied up your other 4 successful place FF prices, and got to $72, then used $1.50(I'm assuming you took Tradesman or Megablast) in R8, then that gets you to $108. Regardless of the deduction for All In Vogue coming out, you can't get to $64
  22. Ring up the 0800 102 106 number and ask them what the % deduction was for All In Vogue
  23. So say $4.50 place, not going to come anywhere near a 43% deduction or reduce your place payout from $108 to $64
  24. Seems excessive as R8 was dominated by 2 faves in Megablast and Tradesman and neither was late scratched, can't remember what All In Vogue was paying
  25. And the rules are clearly spelt out in your Welcome message Generally moderation will be performed retrospectively, that is posts will only be edited or removed AFTER a complaint or review that shows a clear violation of the following: A law has been breached e.g. defamation, slander, the Harmful Digital Communications Act; A person's family has been abused. We have no problem with robust debate between individuals but a line is crossed when attacks are aimed at or affect people who don't have the opportunity to reply; Blatant business promotion without prior approval.
