  1. I think the wording of the last sentence would suggest Hastings will be ok. "While the Triple Crown of Group 1s being moved to Ellerslie and Awapuni may alarm Hawke’s Bay racing fans, the Herald understands NZTR will make an announcement in coming weeks about the future of racing at Hastings."
  2. 9 April Avondale Maiden 2yo & up SW 2200m 13 April Tauherenikau 2yo & up SW 2050m 23 April Pukekohe 2yo & up SW 2100m 4 May Otaki 2yo & up SW 2100m etc etc
  3. 7 race programme wth each race worth $17K
  4. Blinkers on worked a treat on Saturday. Zelia had been beaten by Best Rose in her previous two starts, the latter by three lengths. But with blinkers going on she thrashed Best Rose by five and a half lengths. That's an eight and half length turn around. David Walsh stated when galloping her in blinkers it gave him a Courier Bay feeling. That is some wrap.
  5. Don't think taking her dress off will help with selections Freda.
  6. No show in the Slipper. A stride past the post on Saturday he was beaten. He was lucky the stablemate had to be scratched as she would have beaten him.
  7. It was great to be there yesterday, great racing, excellent crowd and a buzz all around the course. Having the above performers in the birdcage did raise a number of negative comments from people and also asking why they were there. One wag said they are here too late. The Otaki-Maori wfa Classic was run two weeks ago.
  8. The following races remain open until 9am Wednesday 26 February: - R65 1600m - 2YO SW+P 1100m NZTR in conjunction with the club will look to run a consolation ($25,000) R65 1600m providing there are sufficient numbers at withdrawal time. If a horse gains a start in the $40,000 R65 1600m it must start in that race, or alternatively come out of both races. Horses double nominated into the ODT Southern Mile Final hold their ballot order in this race.
  9. They started with a good 4 and got rain coming in during the programme. The odds of abandonment when that occurs is pretty high.
  10. An Irishman has beaten the Kiwi's to the punch I believe Thomas.
  11. Don't you feel sorry for Bruce Wallbank who owns and trains Midnight Edition who dead heated for first in the Auckland Guineas at Ellerslie today only to lose the race in the enquiry room. I thought it was a tough decision against Bruce who trains just the one horse and has had a horses to the races only 23 times beginning in the 2008/9 season but I guess the big boys weren't happy to share the stakes win and put in a protest and I guess we all knew how that was going to end up. Tough luck Bruce. Your horse went a great race.
  12. I heard that she has left Te Akau. I believe she is heading overseas next year to pursue another career. Freelance track rider in the interim.
  13. Horses from Hastings and New Plymouth have been trialing at Foxton for years Others have started to come from Cambridge to ensure they do a trial start with numbers in the Waikato. From a sale point they also see it as easier to win at Foxton.
  14. And Cambridge. No one wants to trial on synthetic tracks in summer. Ridiculous even scheduling them.
  15. And he will piss in too.
  16. Wild Night was given an average ride by Shinn to be fair. Race was over by the time he got clear air.
  17. Blinkers seem to work well on Queen Zou. Who would have thought? Has had them on twice for a win three starts ago and a unlucky nose second today when they were put back on.
  18. Well that set of blinkers certainly worked. Go you good thing. Even you must be impressed by that run Chief.
  19. I'll take a wild stab in the dark as I go to collect and say yes
  20. Well he is unbeaten in blinkers now
  21. That's why bringing him back to 1600m and chucking the blinkers on was a great move. Worked didn't it.
  22. Call A Friend first time with blinkers going on nice win just now at Tauherenikau
  23. Surely it is not rocket science. Club: Racing Te Aroha Date: Wednesday, 30 October 2024 Weather: Showery Track: Soft 5, downgraded to Soft 6 retrospective to Race 1, Soft 7 retrospective to Race 2, Heavy 8 following the James & Annie Sarten Memorial What does it say the weather was like? Answer "Showery" If they had some heavy showers after scratching time then obviously the track will deteriorate or do people stand out on the track with umbrellas? Looking at the times of the races suggest it wasn't too bad. The three mdn 1400m R3 R4 R9 were all 1:26.
  24. Bounding and Fix were a couple the Kelso's trained.
  25. Exactly
