  1. He met the Queen
  2. My brother owned and trained a beaut horse by Sands a Flyin.. called Life's a Beach... that was a great name
  3. .. and perhaps I should add Sugar Ray and Lady ... those were the days... such fun times
  4. I loved all the Robinson horses too because they were like family to Max and Gwen... Jack and Greg
  5. Adored Hilarious Guest and the Vermeulens.. lovely horse, great people They used to stay with us at Trentham, training on the grass for races at Hutt Park.
  6. I loved a greyhound here in the Waikato called Slug White Bale ... great name he was a lovely black and white dog. Also like the name Extra Brut .. out of Dom Perion (a Redoubte's Choice mare) .. also redoubt means a temp or supplementary fortification I'd like to think they took that into consideration. Liked the name RUNVS many may remember this lovely mare from years gone by soooo many when you get thinking
  7. Flag misunderstood Nimue's post.. I agree Thomas, that was a beaut ride on Saturday and given the form leading in that many of his rides have, for his leg ups, I think he does pretty well place money wise
  8. Some folk can only respond if it's in the negative vein.. hunter if you ever post anything slightly positive I might be more inclined to take your posts seriously as with the rest of you.. I guess this is a vent for the majority for other frustrations, but I really feel ... what is killing racing in NZ is all the so called enthusiasts forum postings that strive to point out what is wrong with it, instead of rejoicing anything slightly positive. Sure there are downsides.. but as in any grouping there are those that live off negativity because it's easier than saying something positive, because you then may have to smile a little... enjoy life a little... be open to being disappointed.. but if that's your bent.. you always will be sadly disappointed. If this is what people see when they come all excited to racing forum to talk about something they might have an interest in.. why blame anyone else for the state of racing. Would you dare to post about Chris Waller's dominance in Australian racing? No, because it keeps people interested... imagine if he suddenly decided to stop. You criticise purdons all the time.. do you know their history? do you know their relations, in laws, cousins, daughters, sons, partners ??? that are keeping NZ racing going .. imagine if they all went... don't you think the public would go? How short sighted are you all? What you really need to be focussing on is making owner trainer facilities more available, getting more horses out there, making harness viable, making it able to be run with full fields anywhere.. but instead you just blame anyone in the infrastructure who is actually trying to make a living, with no ideas or suggestions on how to improve it.. So go on... post ideas, send them to HRNZ, send them to the Racing Minister, get yourselves out there, be proactive.. happily surprise me... or just continue to moan, to try and catch people out whenever they post something that you think you can better them on, and blame everyone but yourselves, for the state of racing.
  9. Thanks Barry If anyone discovers where it is on the NZ site, please let me know.
  10. Sorry if someone has posted this already on this thread, but I just have a quick question.. where do I find a summary of scratchings for today's race meetings on the new site? .. It could be obvious.. but not to me
  11. A wet track would see many good G1 performers run three lengths behind many a horse.. here and in Aussie, but what I love about her is she can sprint and she can stay, she can run on good over distance and in soft, and that's a group of good cards to hold in your top pocket when approaching any race meeting with this horse. I think she's a beaut mare and she's honest and I reckon they should give her a go at the Melbourne Cup.
  12. A song that can easily bring the tear to the eye .. a man that had lost two sons to the war but had one son left alive and he is himself dying .. so sad but beautiful
  13. Ed and Andrea... this is beautiful
  14. Love this
  15. oh for heaven's sake.. is this still going on? You guys need to get a life outside of chat forums ...
  16. G Unit is a nice guy always has been. The beauty of betting fixed - I always do now. Got tired of putting money on and then refreshing and seeing the dividend had dropped a couple of dollars at race close. Whether it was a last minute run of bets or the TAB covering itself I don't know but not something I'm prepared to pay the price for.
  17. Savvy Coup is gutsy and she's not afraid of shouldering off horses to get through a gap.. that's in her favour and she's got a good turn of speed. Yes I agree, good on them for giving her the chance.
  18. I've often wondered that ... their selections are quite odd at times ... is anyone any the wiser two months on ..?
  19. Benbatl looked dominant today whilst just doing enough .. great form to be progessing with.
  20. I think the fact that they had a good racing surface today should be celebrated given the fact that we are moaning about so many that don't. Well done Avondale
  21. Ruakaka is a bit like Sunshine Coast for me... horses for courses and style of running.. shoot from the hip on the turn
  22. Sure if you can get a nice colt.. but not many continue to perform as entires so that is also a risk.. fillies.. they become mares and the only issue, if they have a good line, is whether they are unable to conceive .. I favour a nice bred filly personally especially if as a purchaser, I am keen to breed on. If the filly doesn't make it on the racetrack you still have a pretty decent acquisition and thus equity is a bit more positively used.
  23. Green Desert mares are to the fore here, what is not to like and HC is not too shabby.. again.. if you have the right mare.. why so many are stuck on the stallion is beyond me.. if you don't have the right mare.. don't go there.. but he would appeal to many Sthn Hem given Kris, Sir Ivor, Natalma and Shirley Heights in his lines If you want a good spring into summer horse, and have the right mare, I think he's good value.
