  1. Game over I think now the draws out.
  2. I suppose you could say the problem was superficial. Perhaps the effects were "annoying" like (say) if you had a pimple on the bum it wouldn't stop you walking but in yourself you just didn't feel 100%. Paul obviously did his best without resorting to "chemicals" and as the vet gave it the clearance what more could he do?
  3. Okay galah - a fair start whether it is a stand or a mobile is the moment the starter says the infamous riiiiight. Anything that happens before is a false start. If the starter doesn't call a false start then by definition it is a fair start. If the starter misses something and it happens before the riiiight the start is still a fair start simply because a falsie wasn't called. In such an instance then it is up to the stipes to review the starters action (or lack of it) and the jca (not the stipe) decides the action to take whether it be late scratching a horse or reprimanding or fining the starter. I'm not "sticking up" for the starter but when you have got 3 or 4 lines of horses and some being on the unruly, and particularly if the front line is fairly full, from his position to look back to those 40 metres back it is obvious that small things can be missed. And specially if it happened at start time - or was that 10 seconds before - or 10 seconds after. Remember we all have something the starter doesn't - it's called a replay!
  4. So a punter should be refunded if a greyhound bowls another over. Some of you guys are either effusive pocket bawlers or just too precious to be a punter. As has been said over and over again, it is your decision to punt, if you can't take a loss then give it up. We all know there are very few who actually make any money consistently. I couldn't pick my own nose, but I still roll a fiver around it!!?
  5. You had Adam too
  6. Didn't have hives. He will be ok in a couple of days. It's easy to treat a horse but when so close to a race you have to look at withholding periods of any medicines/remedies. Stipes okayed the horse to start so can't see a problem. If it had not been passed by vets well that another situation - and scopes and the like would have been ordered by the stipes even if they didn't know whats wrong. But in this case obviously the trainer and vets agreed the problem was not serious.
  7. They've had standing starts for bloody near a hundred years
  8. End of an era & an institution. This new rag I believe wont fit into your ass kick
  9. This post is the best I've seen for yonks! Damn it, I saw James this morning and now I wish I'd seen this gem. Called him lots of things but never an "old coot" so I'll have to remember that one. Also could use it on Herlihy, McKendry, Ferguson (Snr) Butcher (Snr too) - especially as most of these guys have won less races this season than Jimmy has.
  10. Wow - who's next? The Oil Companies??
  11. But, as the Dark Destroyer says "It was just another day at the office"
  12. Sundees Son - from the Dickie breed that just keeps on throwing up winners.
  13. and the greenies want whips banned!!
  14. The Islands are targetted by Aussie league and the money they can get there. Easy to play footy for big bucks, do no other work, and the cheque still keeps coming even if you are injured.
  15. As an aside Chief Stipe - is the TAB subject to an annual independent audit?

    Inter Doms

    Any one seen the nominations??
  18. Like the curate's egg
  19. I'm sure Lone Star Lad will be there - Casey always races both venues and no doubt that it will be in the ID's and then stay on for the December racing. Most of A.S. owners in same situation and you can expect a big/strong team. Don't know how many that barn could accommodate but previous occupier ran a fair size team.
  20. Yes. Did they "smarten up" House's barn too?
  21. Ireland = France2
  22. As a (slight) aside, I believe All Stars have leased a barn at Pukekohe for the year.
  23. Back to the subject - many of today's leading young drivers have all served time in Kidz Kartz. In fact at the awards in Christchurch last night the top cadet came through KK. Naturally not everyone who graduates through the ponies will stay in the harness sport but the "strike rate" if I can call it that is pretty good.
  24. And the same could be said for Alexandra Park
  25. first "sensible" post?
