  1. At least he's a paid up member of our community Chief, how many losers from Petone didn't put their hands in their pockets. As to the depth in this race, I agree with the two defectors, the class runner yesterday was Aegon by a country mile.......the pressure and tempo here is crushing, especially in 2yo races......Catalyst found that, injury excluded.
  2. Racing runs on ego anyway doesn't it? Just asking.....
  3. Gerry Harvey's blind drunk or illusional enlightened guests/buyers/punters Chief........the pay ups are huge, the noms and acceptances are mind boggling and of course MM tip in the residual.......the advertising/exposure is priceless........there are more drunks per square metre on sales days than Octoberfest in Munich!!.........trying to outdo each other's egos.....being egged on by trainers/bloodstock agents who don't give a fxxk cos they're playing with other peoples money.
  4. Proof's in the eating......well done team Herbert.
  5. When you are asking owners to take home 4K after winning race and deducting Raceday exes it is a bad thing, the travesty that is NZ racing is run by morons, unsolicited morons at that, if they were accountable it would be different outcomes. Today's Cartel Raceday is an example Mikey, using funds stolen form you and me and other good burgers that supported the industry over the years, makes me puke......sorry, but it does.........and I've just come home from the beach after swimming the dog in 24 degree water on a bright 30 degree summers morning........and I still feel pissed....off that is. Cmon, bring on Gore.....real racing on a real surface......and for decent stakes.......not obscene, just decent.
  6. They don't believe they need a plan B, know alls never do.
  7. Elders brought Nick Columb in at the last minute as their proxy as it turned into a shitfight of epic proportions.
  8. Mrs Bloggs was PA to the two Aussies who bought Waikato Stud......Hunza was carrying Courtza at the time.
  9. Two horses died due to their desperation, or misjudgement.
  10. Yep, just ask Hugh Bowman and Tommy Berry.
  11. Another of Gus's anecdotes, ''The only time I want to see a vet in here is to sign a death certificate'...he hated vets with a passion, emotional blackmailers he called them........gotta love that.
  12. We ran the quinella in the Ascot Vale stakes with True Version and Jackson Square, Jack had a bruised heel, I had a running argument with the boss as I though he picked it up trotting around the middle, a golf ball.......Gus wore my argument for a while and then lost it......I don't give a fuck how he did it, just fix it.......we did.......after the race it took just two words from the maestro, Thank you........I never met anyone that worked for him that didn't respect and revere him........sorry, I find it cathartic championing champions.
  13. I stand corrected, I thought the boss won it 12 times.....blind loyalty.......
  14. FWIW, Cambridge and Riccarton should be the same consistency, so a going stick should be viable......Pakenham and Geelong were different surfaces so no benchmark......Ballarat are now on line but there is still differing opinions......in theory I agree with you, it would help the punter but as the track wears the kickback becomes the 'elephant in the room'.
  15. He won 12 Melbourne premierships NM, each day he would walk in to the stables, walk to each box, run his hands over each horse, give em a hug and a kind word, check their feeders for waste and leave a work sheet before walking up to the gap and sitting in the box with the clocker......in the dark he knew every horse from 50 metres away.....at 80 years young!......a gift, I wish I was half as good NM.
  16. I see your point, it's a minefield Chief, I can't wait for the day they invent a reliable track reader, NZ invented the TAB and were the first to give women the vote.
  17. The yanks train the same way NM, Angus bred a lot of his own at Sandown Lodge, no pre-trainer, they'd come in, next day saddle on, trot canter, 3 weeks, then 3 weeks of speed work, a jump out perhaps, Zedative could run from day 1, he was a big bugger, he took an extra week....LOL.......bang, M Valley blitzed them. I learned more from Angus than anyone, Deac inc, a huge highlight for me was running the quinella with him at M Valley in a 2yo race, he was a special man, humble, genius.
  18. Ask Saundry, he's an expert on the VIC tracks, he'll explain in full the difference between the Geelong, Pakenham and Ballarat tracks, why Geelong collapsed and no one would go, why the Solicitors love Pakenham and used to love Geelong, and why the Rat is the ants pants........he wont tell you why Toowoomba uprooted there's though, no way, but Bernie is a know all, although, accolades to him for asking do you gallop everyday, otherwise you'd have never known how far detached and clueless he really is........the Pro-ride at Randwick and W Farm are popular and even trialed on, but it will take a lot of pain before Petone learns a lesson and the Riccarton trainers are the crash test dummies....Cambridge results speak for themselves, the winners will be the vets.......bring on the respo bills for starters, just give it time.
  19. Back in 70's I rode work at 3 Sydney tracks, all bar W Farm, I saw up close how TJ worked his horses, the bloke was a legend, but I couldn't work for TJ, he was working his horses as I was getting home. !
  20. Chief, your words not mine, Gai and TJ fucked horses.........most trainers 'fuck horses' at some time of our lives, usually during the learning curve, TJ's horses had bone and muscle, and yes, raced on the pace, so Gai emulates her Dad......Holly worked for Gai, I bet she learned plenty.
  21. Absolutely, the shinny thing is very alarming, I heard that the other day at the sales, by a name trainer, I choked on my hot dog.....his owner fell for it hook line and sinker......
  22. Thank you NM, Johno didn't share the JS part with me, another Kiwi that bolted for greener climes.......imagine if they were all still in NZ and were racing for min 40k and 75k on Sat? Could have happened I reckon, until the terrorists got loose in Petone and the cartel hit full swing and fucked the game.
