Is anyone accountable?
-
Ahh, how small is this industry when one person can wield so much power? It's a wee bit of a worry me thinks.

Any news on this farce? Are the 'Friends Of Petone' still in sycophant mode? I'd love to run a book on how long this will be viable and revenue positive......odds?

He's a gilder of Lillies and anyone who believes that believes Eagle Farm runs true and is a carpet. -
I emailed them detailing what they did to me, asked them is that their business mantra......no reply.. They really shouldn't be in business, trading while insolvent is only one of their problems, unless the Gov legislates to prohibit Kiwis betting with overseas operators they will end up in the inevitable. You'll hear me cheering from Stradbroke Is.

But it did, Brizzie I mean, and it will do again, The Titans are like the Warriors, too much of the good life and not so much application......IMO -

He was a good player for the Dragons, being a passionate dragon fan I wanted him to succeed as a coach, went ok in the UK, hasn't gone well back home, the culture in AKL will do him in. -

There's a culture at the Warriors, a bad one, always has been, a one city team works, well in Oz it does, George has no idea, he's in his element at that joint. -

Here's a few questions, is this the right place? who knows, but here goes? Is the foal crop down? was last years, will next years? Will the thoroughbred, standardbred kill be up in the abattoirs? no use asking about the back paddock kill as that's been happening for years, especially on the commercial studs, [I know that first hand] Will someone of importance tell the public how much debt the racing industry is carrying and will the government need to bail them out.....again. Will a tax or CGT on equine exports via vendor be introduced to assist the industry in general. Will the funds from generous tax write-offs on potential racehorse/stallion purchases be reassessed/redirected to the industry infrastructure fund or just absorbed into general Government revenue... -

The problem is and as we have agreed over time, Accountability!.....lack of. Until there is constitutional change, this behaviour will continue. We don't have anywhere near that problem over the ditch, it's a NZ thing, same as price gouging, when I was kid everything was 'made under licence' to ensure all Kiwi's had a job. it created a culture, that spread to lack of accountability, fraudulent and misleading behaviour came next, it's reflected in industry, politics and sport. When corporate bookmaking became reality, AKA betting on sports, criminal behaviour increased, if the watchdog had of been doing their duty?....imagine if the gladiators cooked up a one goer? and someone grassed? that's called accountability and unfortunately a major offender re lack of accountability sits in Jackson St Petone, hence shocking behaviour. -
You can go to Gaol here in Oz for that, 'misleading advertising', there'a fine line, ''gaining a financial advantage by deception'' for one. There's no law though for offering the public ridiculous odds, survival in business is about customer service and satisfaction, how they are still in business is purely down to Jacinda and the bailout.

The low bastards got me the first time I bet with them, I even gave them a second chance, no third chance, they were 4 figure bets, yes, but someone obviously had to run off and check with his supervisor and when he/she came back I got the old idiom....''odds have changed'' downward of course......I walked then and used my TAB.COM.AU acc........useless, thieving, hypocrites, bookmakers arseholes, ....there, I feel better already.

Seriously? Lisa Allpress named in New Year's Honours List!

I think her Dad was apprenticed to Herb Bergerson at Hawera or her uncle, not sure, never had the chance to ask her. -
Bernie also knows nothing about thoroughbreds Thomass, 'gallop every day'' will haunt him as long as he haunts Petone.'

No Wally, the working week inc 2 days Raceday attendance. But show me a kiwi stablehand that gets anywhere near that? A leading W Farm stable is offering K75 plus an apartment for a top foreman.......that's why there are thousands of Kiwi strappers and so many foreman here in Oz. Makes you ponder then why there are Oz bosses at racing HQ in NZ, although it wouldn't be that hard to work 'that' out.

Some of the leading country trainers charge less than 90 bucks a day, and cart your horses to Randwick or Eagle Farm in their own truck at subsidised rates, with the city trainers it's a case by case basis in many instances and the syndication fees can be over the top. I know of a few name syndicators here that charge a percentage of prizemoney on top of their management fees, and that distorts the trainers announced fee. Some syndicators charge lunatic fees, and therefore attract lunatics. What I will say is, there are some talented young people beginning their training careers charging well under the $100 per day mark and have top class city horses. The stale, pale, male trainers living in the past are charging way over that and watch as their old timer clients drop off the perch. Feel for the emerging young Kiwi trainer. trying to carve out a niche for themselves with the current management of racing in NZ, I thought by now there would be an insurgency of Kiwi's with a horse in each hand here on the Gold Coast, but blood is thicker than water, it would be nice to see that loyalty rewarded by better prizemoney, incentives, travel subsidies and infrastructure being implemented in NZ and racing back where it belongs on the world stage. As it stands, the pattern committee should strip NZ of their black type racing as there is no guarantee swabbing is Kosher, we know there is no pre=race swabbing, or very little and that should be mandatory.

Can't tell you to the dollar, but not much I'm guessing.

You're spot on, it's bloody hard to win a maiden over here. There are so many horses going around with NZ beside their name and many still have their original Kiwi owners on-board. Having said that, the Kiwi horse is tough, they have to be, the grass is greener and richer in NZ, the flies are not as ferocious as here, so young foals and weanlings get a better time of it, especially during summer, the 3 and 4yo's raised in NZ have a great advantage, but when they get here they could find themselves up against a field where the majority have gone through the ring for gazillions, a maiden at Newcastle for example can look like a blue ribbon sale ring with 2 or 3 million dollar horses in the betting. Where I differ, I know first hand what some of the cartel trainers are charging up in the Kato to train your horse, a few are not far behind some of the leading Randwick and Caulfield trainers, the costs are way out of proportion in NZ will little subsidies. Here the jock is paid, no acceptance fee, and you run 10th at Randwick on a SAT and you get K3500........K1000 at Newcastle on a SAT......the transport costs are cheaper here, way cheaper and yet the wages are much higher for a strapper. Young fella that strapped a horse for me recently took home nearly 1200 bucks for his weeks work and only did 2 racedays...the gouging in NZ is probably centred mainly up north, I can't see that MO in the CD and especially in the SI........not from my previous trainer in Chch, so it's a mentality thing, like provincialism in South Africa........anyway, for what it's worth,..... that's my take.
