How many are at the RIU/NZTR again? at least 50, so, if each stands with a candle in each hand, thats 100 by my count.

And the fact new lighting would accompany the new AWT, as I've said a squiilion times before, why didn't the brains trust, [I say that loosely] give the Toowoomba club a call? hey fellas, why did you throw your AWT to the shithouse? did you blokes ever get to the gist of why no trainers would support it? and are we Fwits for putting one in here in Chch?......etc etc........wasting 10's of millions of money they don't have disgusts me, and you only have to stand back and look at the decision makers that surround themselves with brown noses and spineless cretans.......all this money should have gone to the regional clubs that stood up with a business plan, and there would be many, many......and improved there ailing infrastructure......many could have pulled down the old grandstands and erected sail cloth viewing for summer like we do at many of the country/outback clubs in Oz, and much of the saveable timber could have been salvaged from the old buildings, totes included and with community help like Mens Sheds etc a small weatherproof building for winter.......proper facilities for officials and jocks, and money gone into grooming and maintaining course proper and plough, sand for the trainers......if you're going to spend government money Tesio, do it properly and with discourse.....with learned passionate industry people.....they're out there all right, thousands of them......just pissed and disenchanted.

As a victim of a two million dollar misappropriation , I strongly push for a forensic investigation into the entire machinations of FOB platform and all the peripheral contracts signed over the past 5 years....or even further back if poss. I'm not alleging fraud, or even misappropriation, however, for transparency an independent body has to go through this entire farce and if anyone, and I mean anyone is found to be guilty of impropriety then the full force of the law has to apply.......surely. We can't keep fobbing this off as sheer incompetence, we just can't, otherwise we are all guilty of that horrible accusation, apathy.

And Chief,......night racing at Riccarton, you bloody beauty, a winter AWT championship, like they run at Wolverhampton and Lingfield in the UK.......great prizemoney, great crowds and plenty of atmosphere......oh well, none out of three aint that bad. Marsh and co will flood the visitors barn, gee, Mills might have to build more stabling to accomodate the masses.....you think?
-
You do your BOAY handle a disservice Tesio, a man of vision and sound thinking, not you, but the real deal.
-
I noted with interest a certain very experienced Riccarton trainer referring to the poor lighting at Riccarton? Not posted here, but it is a very concerning issue. This is a welfare issue, horse and rider. If during the construction of the AWT a rider or horse is injured or worse surely legal action against those who oversee the track would follow? In todays day and age lighting at tracks is paramount, good lighting that is.

Common sense is not so common Freda.

Absolutely, if the industry, me/you/others didn't kick in K500 to boost Krapa day, that K500 could fund how many maidens, or help fund an apprentices academy, better still buy a property or 2 for re-homing the slow and unwanted gallopers, just like we do in NSW and soon in QLD.....now thats a furphy in good old NZ......who gives a fuck what happens to the horses struggling to find a home? I bet Saundry and his sycophants don't lose sleep each night over that one.......the industry should fund equine welfare, not donations from the benevolent public.........to do that we need people with a conscience and compassion........piss Karaka and all the bullshit that goes with it off and stop hand feeding the northern cartel and the blow hards from Punceenby.....etc........look after the good buggers in racing by asking for their input, the learned buggers, the experienced buggers, Messara turned out to be a Walter Mitty, Peters might have delivered some tax breaks but in the wash up he was Messara's Siamese twin.........taxing the exports and the private sales to Asia will assist with prizemoney, there MUST be a levy on all young horses exported from the sales ex vendor not buyer!, how the hell are we going to pay back the 72 million plus the ongoing fee debacle if this doesn't happen?
-
I wouldn't do that, your sheep don't trust you!
-
Well based on that C, the members council needs counselling.
-
Tell me, who hired this guy? would it be the same entity that hired the other Aussies?
-
How many of these industry terrorists will still be in this industry in say 5 or 10 years Huey? You reckon that Aussie bloke will still be kicking back admiring the view over the harbour from his office in the Taj Mahal? or some of the other suits with little between the left and right ears? Nah, they'll wander off into the sunset, damage done......how's it go again, all care, no responsibility?....in fact, no care no responsibility more like it.
-
You reckon that would work in England say? the size of NZ's NI.........you think the Hoi poloi there would cop having to race at Newmarket and Haydock, close all those brilliant tracks in-between, with all that history, it's what makes racing, and they pay their way on the back of community support and people power.......somethings missing, common sense for one.
-
Why do you lot reward mediocrity? The All Black coach was in fear of his job a week ago, according to the press and yet the racing industry appoint neville nobodies and little is said, and the infatuation with Oz? why ? what's wrong with home grown, there's something wrong isn't there. Purcell, George and the latest MENSA honours grad, Saundry, shoot me.
-
Speaking of Bullying Thomas, did you see your esteemed CEO of NZTR has had his tenure extended. Announced by none other than one Cameron George an expat of note.......note........Kate Goodrich the bullied Oz lady trainer who won her case in the high court will be amused by this announcement.....google her Thomas and read about the bullying allegations.......there is an Aussie mafia at work, I wonder where it could be?
-
Can you imagine what happens if TAB CORP give them the flick re commingling? Now that would be interesting, how are they going to fund racing sheerly on the domestic product.
-
If you and I can see it, oh, and most on here, why the hell can't Petone see it......maybe the northern cartel rules their thought processes? They rule just about every other bloody thing in racing.
-
You only have to look at the suits from Petone to find one of the causes NM.....they wouldn't have a clue about marketing, promo's or in fact any bloody thing. When the CEO has to ask if you gallop them everyday you know just what the problem is. A decade or more of the wrong people in the wrong jobs. No one accountable and hence you have industry destruction .......it's only a matter of time before they ask for GOV help, Levin RC should have known, you can't just blame the weather, it's a cultural thing now, and changing a culture is extremely difficult.
-
Oh Huey, how perceptive you are!
-
Of course it suited some trainers, those that train there, but and it's a big but, it's a brand new surface, just wait a bit, let's see what happens when it starts to break up and the kick back resembles a wind storm in the Simpson desert. One bloke was saying oh there was no kick back yesterday and horses came from everywhere...oh please, why then did Toowoomba pull theirs up and Geelong long went past it's use by date as the kick back there was atrocious. Once they start racing there the pools will be full of mug money, or the needy and the greedy, big punters here wont let go on the synthetic, just like many horses......time will tell.
-
FWIW.......I was lucky enough to have been foreman to the greatest trainer of 2yo's Oz had ever seen.......I learned heaps, more than I can say........but one thing I can say, the boss turned out every shinny youngster, at the very first sign...he was also a stallion maker, his take, at the first sign of pain, they'll not put in, and it then becomes a habit.......so, prevention is better than cure. Having said that, I witnessed some instances in NZ where out came the bute, ice boots, swelldown, you name it, and the horses were so short in their action it beggared belief.......first off it's bloody cruel, and only the brain dead would do it...but hey, there's plenty out there.

The only thing 'kicked into touch' should be NZTR management and their southern collaborators? -

What you need Freda, is a wealthy, old ex trainer to go tits up, wooden box, bequeath his/her estate to CJC and you're sweet. For at least a little while, until another wealthy ex trainer karks it and same same......you reckon......there's heaps of wealthy ex trainers in Canters........coupla breeders, and some wealthy expats who remember the Canterbury of old......not kidding either. It's how the world famous Battersea Dogs home survives, no kill policy, all dogs are re-homed or kept for life via kind old buggers bequests.........parallels there you think?
