  1. They still run on the AWT in France, so that's interesting re UK, once the attraction wears off in NZ and the tracks start to crumble like Geelong and other places, they might need to try Jumps on AWT Freda, they'll be scratching for revenue so a novelty act might do the trick......for a while.
  2. They do in Europe, but NZ being a market and industry leader may choose not to, maybe they should have done that at Toowoomba, it might have saved it!...imagine, jumpers in QLD, how novel.
  3. For what it's worth, this mornings Gold Coast Bulletin, 31.5 million to be spent on upgrades to our track, lighting for night racing, upgrade the training tracks......etc etc.......Australia's fastest growing city, both political parties have pledged this will happen.......and what are you being foisted with? debt, debt and more debt and no ability to pay back, is that a recipe for disaster? Consolidation should have been the first step, industry unity, I'm wasting my time, know alls abound, and yes men, brown noses, like JJ.......and there are so many JJ's.........The mouth from the south, and his sidekick buddy, sooty the glove puppet to name just a few...... My last post on this....promise, I feel the sighs of relief from here on the Broadwater........
  4. There's a poster on another site, Mardigras, he nailed it with his latest post, I wouldn't know him rom clay, but by gee he's spot on.......further to my post above, may I add ''misleading AND deceptive behaviour''.......if I lived anywhere near Petone, I would stand outside that building with a different placard for everyday of the week announcing what they did, the passing parade would eventually learn something as sure as hell the apathy of the mainstream media wont run with it.
  5. Just a couple of questions if I may? Do you believe in custodial sentences for people found guilty of dereliction of fiduciary duty? and or deceptive and dishonourable conduct?.....resulting in bankruptcies, marriage breakups, and in some very sad cases suicide........and should a Royal Commission be called to investigate the 70 million dollar FOBP fiasco and the ongoing royalty/servicing fee of 17 mil per annum........
  6. Here's a thought, The Winx Stakes, those figures would be through the co-mingling, wouldn't they? and as 4/5ths of that would be Oz money, or more like 9/10ths, I'm saying creative accounting is on steroids....oops, nothing in racing is on steroids is it?........would it not be the case with the other pools as well? I looked at the pools on the NSW TAB a few Saturdays ago, 700 bucks in the place pool at Ellerslie, as they jumped, yep, the race fields legislation is going to work wonders.....NOT........ You can fool some of the people some of the time....you know the rest.
  7. OMG, many of those figures are better than the hold TABCORP had on same race here in AUS, now thats super impressive, in fact it's absolutely mind bending. At this rate the payment of the FOBP royalty will be peanuts, I'm beside myself with excitement, oh and bewilderment also.......Congrats boys.....and girls.....youse are walking jeanyusis's.......
  8. By the time you find out nomates, Saundry will be gone, the industry broke again, and industry unemployment sky high, all it took was a phone call to the club and trainers in Oz that uprooted their track and punted it to the shithouse.....but that takes common sense, and Mills and his glove puppet are leading the race to the cliff........Geelong surface was a joke for years, the size of the fields there will tell you that, mugs will bet on anything, plus, you offer 22k for a maiden purse you'll get the needy and the greedy, and R58 horses will take whatever's offered to them.......I'm done with this, you can't argue with some, you can with most and get a consensus in the wash up.......what worries me though, is the mentality, why wouldn't you call people that admitted they made a mistake and corrected it? to find out why they did what they did?
  9. There are so many DB, some are protected, our local feed merchant told us some home truths, they don't prosecute through the courts as they all grew up in the same place, went to school together, married friends of friends or relations and feel entitled as their relo's came out on the first fleet, non paying bills is a speed bump on their highway of life, but they cause major pileups for others.......go figure?
  10. I reckon horse exports has been the damnation of racing, the products not worth betting on, all the good horses have gone and according to this months exports even the ordinary neddies are leaving the country. I know your betting culture is vastly different to ours, punters here wont bet on ordinary horses, the turnover on B58 and under is abysmal, although many good horses here are sold to HK, the majority decline those offers as they are raced by syndicates, and they want to enjoy the thrill of owning a top liner instead of the 20k in their pocket, plus the purses offered here are brilliant, still close to best on the planet overall.....
  11. Has anyone got the balls or gumption to challenge this? it bloody stinks.
  12. In all your lives have you lot ever experienced such inept, disgraceful and openly collusive behaviour? in any industry I mean.........I'd be interested to know.........we see it from time to time with various governments, even they though are eventually held to account, unless I'm very much mistaken HQ will ultimately do whatever they please and swan around with a head wobble synonymous with FIGJAMS.
  13. If he is, doomsday will be upon you plus vite, bit like a plumber attempting brain surgery really........
  14. I'm speechless, and thats a first....what I can say is....FFS!
  15. It's now become a culture Nomates, shamefully.
  16. Shall I send Mills and the glove puppet Toowoomba Turf Clubs number? They can tell the board and the trainers how could they get it so wrong.......oh, and while they are on the line......''please can you explain the maintenance costs and shelf life of the track if most of our hundreds of horses utilise it everyday.......thank you. and then do same to Geelong board......so on and so on.........
  17. I just had to, I really had.....were you pissed when you wrote this? We're reading Gulliver's Travels, and yes, you really did say that.......
  18. Wouldn't it be a tad difficult to keep your rag, temper, shit together, you get my drift, at a meeting where your destiny/career/life path is being discussed by people with absolutely no idea and a track record like a 30 start maiden? I say destiny/career as if this money is pissed up against the wall like Petone management did for years and sent the entire industry to the wall, and was technically insolvent, then yes, another 15 mil plus and to suit who exactly? the bloke that doesn't want to travel? Ask that bloke who know everything to ring 50 Newmarket trainers, other than his new mate Gosden, do they enjoy the haul up the M1, A30, M25, M8 and M60 to places like Thirsk, Ayr, Haydock and to the West Country in snow and sleet in an English winter? They do it as they have winter runners, National Hunt, muddies, horses that thrive on true winter going and to appease and satisfy their loyal true blue owners who expect their trainer to take their charges to where they are best suited, NOT to where it best suits the trainer that doesn't like to travel......they didn't canvas BHA to put on jumping races on an AWT like the French did....... We do it here in Oz, the distances are massive compared to little old NZ, but it's what you do for the best....man and beast combined. I'll say it again until it sinks in. Saundry being an Aussie should have set up a meeting with the Toowoomba Turf Club for a working session on why the helll they pulled their AWT/poly track up, AND why the Geelong Jockey Club went to hell in a hand basket over their tracks demise......you want to know what the vet bills were for eye and respiratory damage there, ask a few trainers down in VIC, they'll tell you....no such worries with a strathayr.......
  19. We're showing our age Nomates, we are starting to live on memories, how sad is that. I agree re the Oz connection though, isn't it a shame the homegrown product was considered not up to it? and the imports did exactly what, it's just tragic when you think it through.
  20. It wont if you keep the current management, the retrenchments/boot didn't go far enough, cut the dead wood, start afresh, you know where to start.
  21. I think I asked same, or stated same a while back, the consensus over here is a Strathayr beats an AWT by a country mile, so, seeing as how the Toowoomba Turf Club pulled their AWT out as trainers just wouldn't go, put in a Strath and haven't looked back, putting aside the cheating allegations, so why would your know alls, inc the outspoken trainer that's never trained on one beg to differ with people that have? If you've got the money [other peoples, be it what it may] put in a strathayr, throw the Riccarton goat track to the shithouse, and the money you save put it into doing a state of the art velvet or Kiwi style plough.....how tough is that? Just tell Mills and co you don't want to see CJC go broke, and they will, and to let Saundry know he's needed back here as fire season is due and we are short handed in the volunteer fire service, anything tell him anything just get him out of any decision making regarding your futures.
  22. Ive seen a lot more AWT than you as I owned and operated a global travel marketing company, lucky enough to spend many weeks in the UK and ASIA........many of the trainers I got to know hate the bloody things, just because John Gosden likes them doesn't make him the Messiah........ They have saved or prolonged the lives of many average gallopers, but long term they are a waste of owners money [remember trainers pass on costs] and inevitably respiratory problem arise as the bloody things fall apart.......ask the trainers up at Toowoomba why they uprooted the bloody debacle there........ask, ask, and learn from VICTIMS.
  23. You absolute champion, where were you when we were looking for a semblance of normality and foresight when we lived our 3 year stint in NZ.....all we encountered was apathy, stupidity and self interest......if the majority had the intelligence and passion you have, then Petone and Parnell wouldn't have got away with what they have......good luck to you, keep on keeping on and I hope you do well with whatever.......Best.....Joe.
  24. In addition to your very succinct post above Chief, might I add, we now have a very new and different horse person in the mix......bloodstock agents, horse traders, we never had them back then, you know, the good old days...these people that over inflate horse values, spend other peoples money, live high on the hog and yet in all reality don't have an efen clue.....they and the new breed of racing executive, the so called NZ bookmaker...don't make me laugh, I have a mate locked up in Quarantine out at Manakau as he had to return to NZ......an Aussie married to a Kiwi with Kiwi kids......he is a betting tragic, raised on the rails and paddock bookies over here, the relentless search for top odds, you know the drill, well only the other day he was betting away on his Oz bookie site and thought to compare his odds with that of NZ TAB......he was getting 1-15 the place, NZ TAB was trying to woo him with ....wait for it.....1-02.........how the hell will you ever win over punters with that mentality?.......of course he knows the pitfalls of having a NZ TAB account, and the misery and despair that goes with it.......so another potential customer bolts.......strike me dead, it's despicable and deplorable.....
  25. I've spoken about the kickback on many occasions and spoke with many trainers at Newmarket about their concerns. I wouldn't risk my valuable horse on an AWT, how do you explain to the owners the horse has a damaged retina or similar? Plus many just wont chase, can you blame them? The cunning ones most certainly wont, however let them spend your money, the attrition trainers will train winners simply through numbers and culling [history repeats] and just wait until the show is flat broke and Jacinda has to put a chair under the door knob to keep the Petone suits at bay.......'' please miss, can we have some more''.....I can hear it from here.......FFS.
