  1. Can see what you are saying about a large penalty for frivolous things. But Integrity IS NOT BEING Lost. Steve Smith got large suspension penalty costing him millions $ because someone in his team used Sandpaper on a cricket Ball ) frivolous beyond belief IMO. People have been rubbing the ball on pants buttons , bottle caps , etc for decades. Did it myself. If people ARE BEING caught and PENALISED Chief ....... this means Integrity is HIGH . Rules breaks are Not Ignored. All good ..... Mr Galah is on the money , Integrity is being shown with ENFORCING the RULES . all good. BTW I think getting speeding tickets for small breaks of the speed limit is frivolous too, but you need rules ......... and you need to penalise the rule breakers ???? Steve Smith didn't even touch the ball himself so was well and truly 'Ripped Off ' lol...........
  2. My personal opinion is its a good rule. (No syringe or Tubing raceday) Solution = Tell Ms Wigg to use a spoon or feedbin as suggested on this thread, and/or worm on a day that is Not raceday . very easy. She probably will from now on too lol....... I've been to the races with trainers who have sneaked a syringe of something in the truck or at the 'wash bay' was more common so you could wash the neck a bit to hide injection evidence if need be. you are just cooling 'hot' horse after transport apparently. Whether you think 'Stewards in trees' spying is bad for Wigg , etc , or whether caught by dobbers (possibly like Alford) or even seen from outer space satellite , or long distance binoculars, if trainers break the rules , they deserve to get caught.??? (including those road driving at 70kph in the 60 zone, etc IMO lol... I always drive at the limit or under speed or drink and have had NO Penalties therefore ?? It's easy . Race driving has rules too. But blame the horse for errors (interference, etc) then, lol........ and there are a lot of 'silly rules' too. BUT you just have to go along with them , OR do something else altogeather where you can follow the 'rules'. many did with the silly whip rules too !!!
  3. A great level of disrespect for authority comes to a head on forums. Not just governments slammed for 'making decisions ' for the well-fare of the nation. But racing rules as well. Rules are Rules. You break them , you are penalised . (just as you would be for breaking road rules whether you think are 'Stupid rules ' or Not. you can't make exemptions for excuses . I'm sure Ms Wigg realises that and can cop it on the chin. (her penalty) Really the stuff tubed on race-day is quite benign as well , but has some effect on performance. So it's not really the 'CONTENT ' of the syringe on raceday that is the rule breaker. It was syringing and/or tubing action. Most QLD stables tube drench the day after the race , to aid recovery. Raceday administration is not an option. Race day treatments via Syringe/ tube are banned. Therefore through this thread the Galah is correct. Penalty stands unfortunately. (for her) Rules are Rules. Foul play would be commonplace without them?.. Mr Alford.
  4. I'm running out of icons to look up to with the latest one to be bowled out overnight in Shane Warne. With 2 of the best Aussies passing young in Vinny Knight , a good friend and fabulous horseman, Steve Irwin (the crocodile Hunter and loved by the nation) now Warnie has checked out (almost in sympathy for Rod Marsh who passed this week as well) Every Australian bloke enjoyed his on-field and off-field antics and Flambouyant life-style , that cost him his marraige to Simone , but not his character. Like many a rock-star like Elvis or Freddie , Warnie has left us after a fine Innings , where he scored more than any of us could hope for. (including Liz , lol..... ) RIP Warnie 🏏🏏🏏🏏
  5. Hot to Trot was young Nathan today with 5 wins in a row while in the 'Groove' . a nice day at the office. SAND WAVE looks the pick of them , and had the fastest time, with another solid win. Are they getting slower at Winton than they used to. ? or a drivers 'sitting in' to very late in the race or something. ? looks very slow sectional times in a few races today.
  6. Nah , they are just doing things like mix saddlecloths to keep him entertained lol.
  7. The NZ Tab sponsored 'BIG fence obstacle'. Here come the 'restricted' riders and punters now....
  8. Looked a beautiful day at the South islands trots at least. SouthE Qld is terrible with 3 days downpour non stop. I'm ok thanks but nothing can do for a couple of trotting mates. One has a metre deep water through his house and has been evacuated from Caboolture (just north of Brissy) and the other has a foot of water in his house. was looking at photos he sent . what a shocker. Chaos everywhere. Gone crazy like the Ukraine. Well they still raced NSW last night and King of Swing ran 'parked out ' last lap and ran 1.47.9 mile last night. OMG. and Grant Dixon took 2 Queenslanders down for the NSW derby heats and won both of them !! how good ? MAJOR PERRY won the third Derby Heat for NZ !!!! excellent stuff. The locals there will be annoyed lol.....
  9. Wow , not only is VE a great ambassador for the NZ breeding industry, she has won in NZ for her early fans and owners too , and that breath-taking Melbourne Cup win recently was the stuff of Champions.!!!! Winx would of struggled to do that. So if she does the France 'Arc' trip , and becomes the best in the world, Winx will live in her shadow lol.......
  10. Going to miss the Oamaru racing now , as rain is still pounding down after 2 days Brisvegas, and houses are leaking so have to go look at that for repairs. never seen anything like it. In the meanwhile here is another fine kiwi horseman winning the Waikuaiti Cup very easily as Robert Cameron did above as CosmicB spotted with 'Bionic Star'. Here's another one to name ???? Here's a nice horse on his day , and a trainer still winning Big races in very recent times lol...
  11. NATHAN JACK ! back from the years out disqualified. What a driver he was ! and still is ! winning from that alley. Overpowering Madrid late in the piece to take the victory with JUST HOPE. 10/10 drive. AMORE VITA very game parked out last lap and close up 3rd. Nathan Purdon would be proud of her still. A
  12. A great edition of the race set to go on Sunday . some more good tough horses. Lets see a couple of Waikouaiti Cup winners from the past , and see who can spot up the horse and driver . Here's the first one......
  13. Spose .... Brad could of yelled 3 simple words to Tim " Come Back Round" and we wouldn't have this silly thread. Anyway, another day they'll race again. No comment on stupid whip rules , hate the things. Better off watching Verry Elleegant fight like a Tiger >>>>> go girl !!!!!!!!!!!! VE better than Winx IMO lol.........
  14. That's Exactly right. But Brad poured on the pressure so 'that plan' of Tims' was coming unstuck obviously. As I said earlier , they were clear of the field so a Good Decision would be LET them go , then whip around that runner to the front again. Happens all the time in Aus. Maybe not a known tactic in NZ ?? not by Williams seemingly anyway. Gassed his horse and ran unplaced instead.
  15. Tim had every right to be where he was. BUT If you want to keep poking your legs up inside the wheel of the parked horse like he did , you get exactly the result that you deserve, that Tim Williams and his horse got . which was Run Down easily . Mabalene with Williamson even went past him late on up the home straight (on the inside this time lol..... ) to rub his (Tim) nose in it . (Very good effort by Mabalene actually? one for next time)
  16. Gassed their horses. Tim is the culprit . Brad Williamson only had '1 more metre' to go to cross to the lead, after the home straight challenge a lap out , and a very nice horse in Mabalene to do it with. More or less 'obliged ' to persist for lead when that close to it ?? At Menangle and many other places, the driver in TIM Williams position would of decided very quickly , to not gas your horse relentlessly a lap out , yield and let the outside horse go . And IF YOU were desparate to be leader , just pop out around it again as soon as it backs off the pace. (which it would do) and regain the lead with just general momentum ? instead of the near Flat Out shite TIM was doing to keep the lead in this race at all costs.
  17. For 2 year old fillies I think. Have a crack at picking this one then Ranga. A big Leonard Memorial winner in her day to test those memory banks lol.....
  18. Absolutely an ability to decipher if the horse is making the error , or the driver . (or the trainer)
  19. Might be a bridge too far to beat MADRID after the Barrier draw. Madrid went 1.54 in heat leading and would probably lead again drawing nicely in 4 in the Oaks Final Sat. Meanwhile Nathan Purdons nice filly drawn awkwardly in 8 , so a tough job . hope she goes close though !!
  20. Thats for sure ! only gotta look at the drivers on the road and you wonder did weet-bix have a special or something dishing out licences hehehe Breeding you can do by proxy, I'm sure sheep and cattle farmed for human consumption have industry regulations that would involve 'knowing' who is involved in supplying the meat ? lol.. I go to races once or twice a year, and the stewards aren't happy with me, as they eye me up and down, not having even a stable-hands licence these days, while helping out with old mates down the stable area. (they turn a blind eye once i'm recognised though) You have to have some sort of licence to be handling horses at the races ,makes sense really. who wants unknowns hanging around the stabling area?. sure !!! if you do it in private at a private facility you can break in, drive your fork lift into a tree, crash the car unlicenced into the fence whatever you like, but you would have difficulty 'claiming ' anything ?. Insurance , compo , etc without fibs....... Better to be Licenced in the advent of mishap I would think. At races or at home.
  21. Why would you do such a dangerous activity unlicenced ? with health and safety paramount for claims these days. You can't drive a fork-lift unlicenced at any place , and claim anything .... or can you? not at a company anyway.
  22. good point. I spose any 'claim' for horse damage, would be made with using name of licenced friend, neighbour, relative as the person in charge of horse. And as for a unlicenced personal injury claim by a person , they could say the injury occurred at local footy match or training hobby , even though there's a great horse hoof imprint all over his face !! lol.........
  23. IMO , he shouldn't be allowed to break horses unlicenced. Nobody should? , as surely an Insurance Company collecting money from the owners , would consider a Claim from an owner who placed their insured horse with an unlicenced person an un-acceptable risk? If i was insurance company, I wouldn't pay a claim for damage to horse from a 'cowboy' unlicenced person causing damage to horse. And what about the horse causing damage to person as well? how would he get 'cover' for injury ? it's quite a dangerous activity at times.....
  24. There would be many more than 5, I would think?. you have McGrath and Alford for starters that everyone knows about. Kerr as well. The Australian harness site currently has a detailed list of '58' persons under the National banner , with the charge and sentence and dates all listed. But I can think of heaps of others that are DQed that are Not on That list on the web-site. Must have some special reason they got off the posted list but they are Disqualified, thats for sure. Am sure NZ has more than Five DQed persons. If that's the case , what a fine honest lot they are in NZ lol......
  25. I remember thinking once or twice in the stewards room "These guys are tough as Teak" lol......so didn't bother giving much of my side of the story anyway half the time, apart from ALWAYS blame the horse, and not yourself or fellow drivers. Wooden stewards have mind made up most of the time already anyway lol.... (racing incidents) Once as a young fella in NZ , I said to the commentator in the stand at Alexandra park at a trials meeting he was calling the wrong horse in a trial. A different horse was running as the one named in the trial. Lo and Behold the next day at the stable I was working (up the road from the offending one which I often visited) a car load of stewards piled out of a car looking for me , and giving me a grilling . Being very young I just said " Mate i'm only a kid and don't know one horse from another properly yet. " The 'Sub' unnamed horse I did know in the trial , but nothing to do with me , I had dealt with him previously but was elsewhere now , and he came out and won ok at his next race start. Stewards obviously had to let it go as far as I was concerned and the case itself actually , but to this day I am impressed they took some action to investigate anything not in the honest realm , and keep everyone on the straight and narrow. GOOD ON EM '!!!!!!! There's lots of criticism on these threads of RIU and stewards 'NOT doing there job, but what I have seen in NZ and Aus there's been 'Plenty' caught and fined , sus or DQ for improper practices .They can only go on What people tell them , and from evidence gathered. The saying is 'Cheaters Never Prosper" . they'll stumble eventually......
