Yes it seems when you look at it , he seems to have lost all form as you and Newmarket are suggesting. Has had quite a few Allstars drives past year without even going close with some (most) of them. am Missing Tim a bit on the 3rd string drives a little. he had much better results.
-
Another brilliant night for Allstars with 3 winners . Best in the country training for the night As per Usual. Excellent stuff by Nat with 2 wins from just 4 drives in her return . Prepare for many more !! How good.?

Nats back in town, and that Always means Winner winner Chicken dinner ...

Is interesting what is going on. A little the opposite here. The city centre is quite empty as the virus runs rampant around most main Aus cities at present. Border s are off ! great !! (except WA) I've just been to 2 different supermarkets (Bris) and many shelves are stripped bare. So is quite Eerie as feels like Society is packing up to go somewhere lol.. a lot of business are closing as No Patronage , even though No Lockdowns now. West Australia idiots still have borders up . Someone should tell them 'You Can't eradicate Flu" A lot of staff are missing in some areas as they catch virus, a week later after home restriction , they are back at work, both my kids and their house mates have all done that already. And hopefully better NATURAL immunity now too. Wonder if they'll be forced to have boosters now.? stupid vaccines don't work anyway. waste of time. And Yet the Sports events are getting GREAT patronage in Australia , races, lots of cricket etc, as is the holidays and people want to do Enjoyable things!! so good on em . (but they took all the frozen stuff and toilet rolls, lol........)

You are getting mixed up with Satan, Hitler and South Africa too much.? No one's going to hell . Harness Racing is Strictly a Sport of the Gods .. It's all 'Rock n Roll Heaven' for the trotting lads lol.
-
Too cold and windy ? (you'd feel it a bit as a sailor) also beer not quite as good ?? . Gammalite gave it a crack anyway back in the day to look after you. (a few Group 1's in NZ ) and tried the beer too !!
-
Don't grizzle too much. NZ still ranked 9th and Australia 5th IN THE WORLD. (the World has 196 countries) Be grateful for being in the TOP 10 , pull the whip , and get out there and enjoy life mate !!! We even have GREAT RACING and BEER (and football of all codes too) in both countries. What the hell more do you want ? ? woke government or not ........hahahahaha The Quality of Life index One of the most comprehensive equations is Numbeo's Quality of Life Index, which measures eight indices: Purchasing Power (including rent) Safety Health Care Cost of Living Property Price to Income Ratio Traffic Commute Time Pollution Climate Top 10 Countries* with the Highest Quality of Life, mid-2021 - Numbeo Switzerland - 188.36 Denmark - 186.25 Netherlands - 180.27 Finland - 178.95 Australia - 178.41 Iceland - 177.64 Austria - 176.36 Germany - 175.24 New Zealand - 173.60 Luxembourg - 171.81

Yes , I guess being by Bettor's Delight it's a miracle he (Bryan Boru) even trots at any speed at all. Therefore I should be giving the Dunn's credit for training /driving him too trot. ? Interesting to note Tony has DOUBLE DELIGHT (jewels winner) trotting in half hopples and 3 wins from 3 . and she is by CaptainTreacherous. another sire of pacers > >> Tony and John equally amazing trainer/drivers...... not many can do what they do.....
-
Well ok , Wolfie has retired long ago, but CURRENT DRIVERS such as AGH (who has won stacks of Rowe Cups and Interdominion trots) and drove a TROTTING winner about 1 in every 3 drives past year . outstanding .!! Johns figures show one win every 4 drives on Trotters from your figures. not as good AGH sadly. % way less. And Anthony Butt has left the country but no doubt you appreciate the wins of Lyell Creek , Take a Moment and a gazillion others, etc . Williamsons may be ahead of John on percentage lol ? John looking good on Sundees Son. Any of them could drive the best staying trotter ever though. hows 'Bryan Boru' doing? ? send him to Tony or Williamsons or Ants ? might get a win then. just kidding............
-
I think you're wrong with that . John drives mostly his own trained horses. As a teen in Auckland , I witnessed Peter Wolfenden jump on anything that turned up , and get it to win or go close in the trots. Horses he didn't train so 'Decisively' Harder. Special Pride , Framalda, Thriller Dee , Scotch Tar and bucket loads more. Same with Tony Herlihy winning Interdominions on Barry and Roys horses, and also Mr Anthony Butt on Tim Butts many trotters , Simon Katz ,etc John a pretty distant 4th IMO. (until he drives other trainers) Sundees Son certainly the 'single most Impressive' run ever seen in the last Dominion I admit. What was going on with Highgrove at Nelson though? might engage AGH to get it going ? just kidding.....

Standardbreds take the work well Brodster. Thoroughbreds can get away with longer spells and less work. If you gave a standardbred 3 months off in a paddock, it would take near 3 months to get back to same fitness. Why lose 1/2 a year of a horses racing career.? A stallion mightn't even come back the same. Longest break we gave Stallions was one month. 'Gammalite' a great example, going for many years and 90 odd wins 180 starts.' Here's one today in Brisbane in the last race Albion Park today. Had a few runs. Lancelot Bromac Nz. started near every week for 10 years since coming from NZ. start 445 today . Probably the record . Don't you have more trouble with the humans running onto the tracks there. ? rather than dogs. That bloke in Wellington gave the jocks a bit of a fright not long ago. That was freaky.
-
Well you are correct with that one Brodster ! Sundees Son is going to Omakau today and likely to be pretty short odds. I enjoy the harness racing without betting most of the time so odds don't worry me too much. I just like seeing good horses go round. The locals at Omakau (not sure where that is but sounds remote) are in for a real treat.!!!!! Sundees Son in front of them strutting his Stuff. Also great pacers like Laver and Terry and Classie Brigade too. ecellent. For the life of me, for punters sake , can't see WHY they don't exclude Sundees Son from the betting today ??? He must be paying a $1 and $1 place you would think.? That way the punters still win if they can pick 2nd, as that could be the win divvie, and the race can become a Normal Betting race.
-
You are incorrect Brodie. The standard has never been higher. The Open class trotter Sundees Son broke the NZ record by more than 4 seconds at his last start, in a performance that even the most harshest critic like yourself would have to say was pretty good. One of the highest standard runs I've ever seen in 40 years following. LIKEWISE, The NZ Cup and NZ FFA were won by NorthIslanders,,,,, breaking several years of dominance by Allstars. Normally you would be plaesed with this instead of critical. But you've lost All enjoyment from the sport ? The champions of the sport shouldn't be described as boring. Are they boring being North Islanders maybe? The Franklin Cup was a 'Thrilling ' race last night , with the handicaps un-doing some of the stars of the sport like KRUG (the double derby winner) who is a Very high Standard horse. as well as Bettor Twist. Well done to KANGO connections. It certainly wasn't boring . and thoroughly well deserved . boring is a poor description of feature racing. place has gone to the pack. probably vaccine syndrome.

You need physical evidence Chief. Hard to make a case on 'hearsay' .or what people think they saw. I believe the witness has changed their statement anyway. so how do you proceed after that? Would be better to let them race .(McGrath , Alford and others that want to tube, inject , floss or dope a horse and penalise them on the LAB findings from Blood and urine results . Good, Hard, Positive, 'Can't deny a thing' evidence. then penalise them. easier on everyone that way. (example being , you might have a syringe in your hand to squirt something into the horses mouth that is not illegal so someone trying to rat you out , because you are on a 'shared' property , could be wrong with accusations)

Purdon has sights on Vicbred finals double
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Trained a Group 1 winner here years ago with Ohoka Punter (part owned by his Uncle Tony Herlihy) who defeated the NZ great Christen Me and Dexter Dunn in the 'Blacks A Fake' G1.. Nathan's pedigree says he will be a fine Trainer lol. -
The beauty of handicaps racing!!!!!! . Everyone gets a chance at winning. The Franklin Cup a perfect example of 5 of New Zealands very best horses unable to go a second faster from 10m or 2 seconds faster from 20m , than the Quinella horses off the front . (As Long as They Roll along) The low class trotter made Group 1 winners Bolt for Brilliance and Temporale work for it too in the feature trot. (with a great 3rd to Anditover leading out and running along on his own for a long way ) Great drive Todd MacFarlane !!!! Great drive on Kango too by the Wizard ? waving his wand lol.

Well Joe and Rav , the GC has high occupancy now the borders are open. and high prices too for summer accomadation. Where I pay $150 night in March is near $600 a night currently. Many places with No Vacancy. 200,000 people arrived earlier in 2 weeks this month when borders re opened again on 13th Dec . A lot of folk won't be going back to Sydney or Melbourne either as the lock-downs were long and gutting for a lot of them. and will enjoy the SE QLD lifestyle for years we hope. Plenty of kiwis around Brissy ,every workplace has one to every 10 locals is the average I have found over the years. Gold Coast is getting by without the kiwi planes , but hope they return real soon. Maybe they can enjoy the grass track circuits and summer Nz racing in the meanwhile and return to Magic Millions races in 2023 (all going well)

rule is they are man's Best friend. horses are second. wife third.

The harness crossings just don’t get any better!!!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Pretty sure it's because they rise up a foot as they approach it and drop off the other side slightly. These horses are finely balanced in their pacing (or trotting) action, and doesn't take much to get them off-stride rocking around like that. I watched one race to see what you were concerned about , and picked race 3 at random , and sure enough the trailing the leader horse , having got a lovely run through after the start to get a good sit, galloped at the crossing. The Connections and Punters of ROCK MY MIND must go away bitterly disappointed. a sad situation. -
For Christ's sake Brodie , it's that time of year when some celebrate a special occasion, and I don't swear much so didn't use a second F as in FFS. lol...... Gavin Smith giving us much less reason to celebrate with that drive today , when he could of won the race.? Perhaps he was planning on winning the second Day ? Jeremy Wells will be hot fav for that .
-
That was quite astounding that he was NOT angling to attack as they turned in for home. The death-seat horse had dropped off, and he had a beautiful chance at victory. Smith instead was endeavouring to stay right on John Dunn's helmet instead??? That was crazy. Should of won the race you would think. Only 1/2 neck in it at the post. Have a go Gavin FCS.

I don't think it's a slur on honest Trainers. Stipes/stewards doing random inspection you would think would be expected to happen, (on days they're not required at the races) Esp, after the Alford and McGrath cases. Stable inspections are common around Australia , and are helpful in maintaining the honesty everyone seems to want (and yet think isn't there ).. and If nothing to hide (like DQ people being on the premises lol..) , nothing to fear ? Personally i don't like the sort of 'Invasion of Privacy' one has on their own land /property so withdrew application to be a Vic Stipe, as didn't want to do the stable raids. Picking races apart is much more enjoyable activity 😃

When you nominate horses , you usually try to place them somewhere in a race where you think they can Win. Addington track, would be 'Seconds Faster' than Rangiora, and way too quick for a chunk of the horses nominated at Rangiora. (usually) As it panned , good fortune Always favours the Brave, and Jim Curtin struck the jack-pot !! training and driving STAR CASINO last night , in the Addington maiden. With only 6 moderate opponents , drawing the coveted 1 alley, and a very slow time run (only 59 sec last half mile required to win it) so Jim takes home the $6,600 first prize on offer at Addington, and is laughing all the way to the bank.
