Yes maybe NS has signifigant Nz ownership too. Old Jack on tele here said he was the only owner present.
-
I have seen Waller interviewed after both NS and VE have won where he has given huge credit to JMc for the work he has done with both the horses in training . and the results are there for us all to enjoy. ...... well done Mr Waller and Jmac and all the stats from Rav and Nomates . Adds up to one impressive finale !!.... You can say that again !!! and some crowd and a 80 year old NS owner 'Jack' sitting there enjoying it !! how cool. !!!!
-
You could be right with that Chief. I've taken the 2 Sydney mares in Scooby's comp as they will be loving the rain and the distance of the Caulfield Cup. So guess if you like that favourite still, from the wide alley, I am gunna box the quinella and tri then . Incentivise, Montefilia and She's Ideel .
-
Hahaha you are now un-restricted Chief for next quiz, as Ranga has nailed the spelling for you of Mr Peter Wolfenden MBE , near the greatest ever. PROTEST dismissed !! you can give as many clues as you like , and anyone can take advantage. Is like you carted Ranga up into the race beautifully and he gave you the Go-by !!! lol.....
-
Great work by Rangatira to name the champion horsemen , who took 'Cardy' to great victories all round the globe, and to become the first Millionaire Pacer in history . What a Legend !!! (Cardy that is , but spose Ranga too lol.) new points ladder Blossom Lady 4pts, the HorseMan with 3pts, Rangatira, Brodie, Gamma and Chief all 2 points, and The Galah doing a MUSCLE MOUNTAIN so far , 0.
-
CARDY looking quite majestic in that stunning photo, and winning the Cup off 54 yards behind must of been SuperStunning 1963 . Chief with 1 Point. (and now Restricted) for spelling Wolfie's name WRONG. So 2 points are still up for grabs for Cardigan Bay's 2 famous career Trainer/Drivers ? Where's the Galah making a run? tailed off lol...

Same . A real beauty. that Cox Plate win was special. Chasing Addeybb and VE, then Zaaki , then Incentivise his last few starts, only the best horses around get to compete against those type of horses. A sad loss for the connections , but forever on the amazing Cox Plate honour roll, so a nice place in history for Sir Dragonet.

The Chief took us on a wild old boys ride yesterday , with U SCOTT and Highland Fling and co , with Blossom Lady storming home to take the days points and the lead in the NZ Cup challenge . Blossom Lady 4 pts, the Horseman 3pts, Brodie 2 pts, Gammalite 2 pts, Chief Stipe 1 pt. Here's an 'Old Boy ' for todays quiz. !! This '35 year old' absolutely stunning photo, is of a then 30 year old Nz Cup winner. !! (in terrific order for 30 he is too, a true credit to his carers in old age ) Can you name this old boy for 1 Point ? or name his 2 regular career drivers for 2 points ?
-
Well Chief as we do the last minute Caulfield Cup study to nail the mammoth 'First 4' and get rich quick, you don't appear to have disagreed with BLOSSOM LADY answers , so assume them to be correct. Blossom Lady ( as she did winning the 1992 NZ Cup ) coming with a typical powerful run to take the quiz lead . rest of the old boys left doing the highland Fling trying to keep up. Blossom Lady 4 points (and new Quiz leader), the HorseMan 3 pts, Brodie 2 pts, Gamma 2 pts, Chief 1 pt to date.

Hehehe Don't you worry about BLUE boy. He had Vinny well covered here in the trials at Addington leading up to that Interdominion. Sort of a sign of things to come. Vinnie still got in the final with 'Alpine Fella' anyway. A tragedy for BAG LIMIT's connections he had to scratch with injury , but lucks a fortune !
-
Further back than Walla Walla you've gone. lol......... Hey! I do notice on my chart above a DOUBLE CUP winner , since you don't rate Van Dieman (51' Cup winner) as a greatest son. I'll take the next one down then. Highland Fling winning 47' and 48' NZ Cups off 12 yards then an incredible 60 yards . Thank you ... I'm taking a couple of points for questions one and two ! U Scott Highland Fling and Caduceus. Brodster and Ranga and Davis and other old NZ boys might help with numbers 3-6 ?
-
Hahaha Brodie mightn't of seen it yet ? hahaha How far are you going back Chief ? I scratched around for some 'sire line' charts I drew up as a kid in NZ . U SCOTT is sire of VAN DIEMAN winning NZ cup and the great Caduceus winning in Sydney Interdominion. I'll roll with that then??? U SCOTT.

Johnny Globe Old girl ''Precocious' trotting gait, for Jack Carmichael. also interestingly she didn't race until 5 yearold , because got in foal as a two- year-old accidently . Precocious was a 'grand-mother' winning the prestigious 1971 Dominion H'cap. won't see that happen again any time soon !!! . also 1973 Interdominion trot winner at Harold Park .
-
Well was thinking Lumber Dream for a moment (with Robalan and Preux Chevalier as the outstanding sons) but Le Frog Preux Chevalier won his Interdominion in Melbourne beating fellow ex-pat kiwi WA star Village Kid in the 80's Therefore it must be JOHNNY GLOBE siring Lordship to win the 2 NZ cups for the Late Denis Nyhan as TheHorseman remembered.
-
And the Horseman is right on the money . so he takes the lead in the Nz Cup. (until Mark or Natalie turn up anyway) TheHorseman up to 3 points, Brodie 2, Chief 1 . Ok , fire away Chief , and first in with the answer can gain a point too. Brodie now un-restricted lol....
-
The thing with Young Werther is he has only won the One race. His maiden more than a year ago. He was set for the Victoria Derby for big glory then , and was backed from 10's into 3-1 favourite. Ollie gave him every hope in the run and loomed to win , but paddled late against JohnnyGetAngry. many left a little disappointed including self (crying through pocket and missing big payout) so just don't want to imagine him toughing out a Caulfield Cup win a year later lol........ Shouldn't wish ill luck on horses I spose , so may the best horse win on the day . Does Incentivise go for lead from 20 alley will be interesting? SHE'S IDEAL has a BIG finish on her from the back usually , so I am gunna go with that.
-
A Nz Cup great sadly passed away last month. Mr Denis Nyhan . An immortal at Cup time and remembered forever for his Cup exploits. Seen here winning with the horse everyone loves ROBALAN , as he powers to victory in front of the crazed Addington Fans. For 2 Points today in the Cup quiz , How many NZ Cups did Denis WIn ? and who with ? or if you want , just go for the 1 point and................. (points to date Brodie 2, Chief 1 ) Name the 2nd placegetter sneaking into the photo, who brilliantly managed to push the race favourite Young Quinn and Wolfie back into 3rd placing.
-
Very good Chief . Wee Win often carried one of those White neck straps along with Rocky Tryax, Trevira and Sapling. Wee Win was indeed the 4th horse across the line !!! TRUSTY SCOT went on to win the Nz FFA on Show-day as well , ( from Lord Module placed ) First day cup Quiz Points : Brodie 2, Chief 1.
-
Brodie with 2 points with the 2 horses correct, from the 1978 NZ Cup with Trusty Scot winning for the Hunter family. Brodster now 'Restricted" for second part point . (sorry Brodster ) to get another expert 1 point. For this bonus point , That isn't the third placegetter Rocky Tryax in the photo. Can anyone pick............... Who is that fine Canterbury stallion pacer No 6 in the photo ?
-
Not long to the next edition of the big race, and a lot of fantastic performances and Wins and big crowds enjoying the racing over the years . Todays quiz NZ Cup number 1 has the Huge Addington crowd with probably some BOAY folk in the stands as well. Can anyone Name these 2 battling out , that hail from some of the area's loved by a few Boay posters.?

Every court case . some of the smartest in society trying to 'decieve' a jury or judge with truth spinning. How convincing they are comes with time and experience. Just like a harness driver !!!! therefore the more experinced drivers ARE more convincing and much more likely to get off charges in a race. Cameron and Williams were both trying to win the races , and circumstances prevented that happening. Both did Nothing to reduce other runners chances, so all the perception is just that .................Perception of the Viewer. every race day you can listen to the comments of the 'viewer' and his perception of a bad ride/ drive. Makes every race different and keeps the un-predictability alive !! excellent ! You'll see FAR FAR worse errors than Cameron or Williams incidents. SURE , they made an error or whatever, DRIVERS IN EVERY RACE make an error of some kind somewhere in the running . Cameron and Williams both VERY TAME to some of the stuff Going On. making 'bad guys' out of the 'good guys' hahaha SHAMEFUL it is i reckon. just a shame.
-
Well a quinella to save the day in the last , but the BOAY boys have taken the spoils with the Yearning -Elusive Express G1 quinella . excellent stuff. she's having a great run alright . and Chief got last Saturdays big price winner ridden by her too. great racing !
-
The last start Grand National Hurdle winner is winning today too. Wouldn't of picked that in Metro company today. WIL JOHN ridden brilliantly to an easy win by Linda Meech. Linda just back after a year off with having a baby too. She's come back well . She rode great ride for 2nd in Race 3 as well on MANKAYAN . 2 x Maher/Eustice Quinellas in a row too. They are going gang-busters with winners.
