  1. Well the Rowing Regatta went very well !!!!!!!! Here's the Rowing Regatta Medal table. Doesn't seem a lot of interest in the Olympics on the harness site unfortunately. But Anyway, Here it is .!!! I thought it was tremendous for NZ and Australia , being broadcast all round the world. !! and was special racing , for some fine athletes who trained long and hard for these medals. Well done to them all. Medals Sports results Countries Events Country 1 New Zealand 3 2 0 5 2 Australia 2 0 2 4 3 Netherlands 1 2 2 5 4 Romania 1 2 0 3 5 France 1 1 0 2
  2. The Rowing 8 women's 'oh so close'. beat home the defending Olympic champion USA ok, but the Canadians have stolen it , holding off the kiwi girls ! spose shouldn't be disappointed with silver but was really hoping that one was getting home..... gave it all anyway!!
  3. What a moment in New Zealand sport on the world stage. An interesting thing happened with Aussies in that tournament. They TIED with India in their Pool after the first round, so an EXTRA match was scheduled to see who would progress to the Semi against Pakistan. was still at 1-1 after extra time !! so in one of the most tense Penalty shoot-outs ever in Hockey. Aus scored all five goals, and India 4 out of 5 with one bloke Ajit missing. poor bugger that missed after all that!!! . Ajit is still trying to get out of Canada after all these years. lol........
  4. Could never understand it , even when young and on my birthday when the Erebus disaster happened i was wondering, What could you possibly see out the window of a huge plane like that ?, to make that trip worthwhile. A white-out? low cloud, barren landscape. Would of been better just flying up and down the beautiful Canterbury plains (at a safe height) where there is infinitely more to see or any of the beautiful NZ or Aus coastlines. Don't think the folk on the Erebus flight had a clear day either . when mountain not spotted unfortunately..
  5. How is Dick Taylor a harness racing Stalwart Chief???? He worked distributing 'Gaming Machines' around pubs and clubs in the 80's when those rotten things started up. And began the decline of harness racing. (and the sad social impact) Crap , the Blue Riband swim 100m just went off, and our Aussie bloke got beat 0.06 of a second. How close can you go.
  6. A Win for the New Zealand men's rowing 8 at the 1972 Munich Olympics ! The only NZ gold of those Olympics . I was too young to remember. also Rod Dixon got Bronze in 1500m on the track. 2 years later to the tune of Steve Allens 'Join Togeather ' we did enjoy and remember much of the Christchurch commonwealth Games in 1974. brilliant. Rod Dixon only 4th in the 1500m on that occasion. (They { Filbert Bayi} went a world record with John Walker CBE finishing 2nd) The first great race I can ever remember seeing !!! At the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, do you remember the Interdominion final at the field Hockey? It was big BIG !! NZ defeated Aus 1-0 in the final !! golden moment for our nations. (and a silver one)
  7. Well during this Olympic times was great to see the kiwis get a Win in the Rowing Pair just now. Grace Prendergast name reminded me of a great Canterbury harness trainer , Dick Prendergast, who battled away with some trotters and in 1987 won the Dominion Handicap with SIMON KATZ at that horses 102nd race start !!! just his 15th win too. The great man Dick Prendergast , doing the thing we all know results in winners , putting a youthful Anthony Butt on for the drive. ! t
  8. Grazie, but Mumma Mia !! Think you'ii find most 'essere al verde' after Brodsters Tips. Caio bambino !
  9. NZ going well in the field Hockey 1-1 so far at first quarter completion Kookaburras v Blacksticks. An Interdominion..? excellent! And the gallopers from NZ are having the same problem I think. Hope the prizemoney goes up soon so some stay to race.
  10. Yes I see what you mean. Young Leonard was dragging back as KOS galloped inside him , and he still kept going back after. and Amanda Turnbull hit the back of him right back of field 2200m out ,and punctured the tyre then . Game over for him with that. Good on you with The Dealer !!! I was all over it . The Anthony Butt treble Tommy Lincoln-Tough Monarch (nice Oz trotter) into American Dealer to bring it home . $35-1 multi. I tipped it on another channel and got a couple of thanks. I'm thinking of taking down the Natalie poster and putting a Anthony Butt one, on my wall ? lol............ he's a bit ugly though lol......
  11. rage is no good for the soul Karrots !! lol well the Girls rugby 7's will start now and leave it to the girls to Win the day (and gold?) Hope Fiji doesn't have too many big strong players like the blokes did....lol........... Grimson and Trainor still winning each week but you can bet every runner will be getting swabbed for a while . tried a quick Brisbane raid with a couple but failed . You have the wrong horse in the Queensland Chanpionship. Spirit of StLouis was driven by their stable junior Leonard Cain and got a flat tyre in the big shuffle up as KOS galloped. (Anthony Butt got 4 week suspension for that crossing too close with Copy That) You are thinking of Expensive Ego , who took on the leader . the third McCarthy stablemate. yeah I think he knew Anthony wasn't handing up and it took the finish out of Copy That alright. and the great AMAZING DREAM took advantage !!!! I got 40-1 ! wahoo.
  12. Hahaha thought you'd climbed Mt Cook and gone skiing and learning some Italian . Ciao Karrots !!!! Nothing boring here . Davis has posted some stuff showing how the kiwi came across to Brissy and PUMMELED us, with brilliance! A local did knock off Spellbound and Amazing Dream in the Group 1 mares but had to pay $250 on the tote to do it !!! lol..... Spirit of St Louis Won the 4 year old Championship so the Sweet Lou's got something . We had some winners in the rowing today (and usual swimming) so Aussies aren't bored yet. lol... Is NZ upset with FIJI knocking them off in your National Sport again ?? very religious blokes with all the prayers and what-not , but the footy Gods answered and took them to Victory !! Party time in Fiji !! (if not locked down like chunks of Australia sadly) NZ due for a Goldie soon ? have a coldie while waiting. you bet.
  13. Well an Amazing Dream did happen for the great mares connections !! with 2 Huge Brisbane wins at the carnival. The dreams are turning 'Amazing' at the Olympics for some too. Australia and New Zealand having a great day at the regatta !! the 2 crews of AWESOME FOURSOMES both WON for Australia.!!!! The men's and Womens FOURS have both Won for Australia just now !! What an exciting race ! Amazing Dream completed for those 8 rowers. 2 golds in half an hour. !! fantastic. And the kiwi girls got some Silver too in the womens double Scull just before that, Hannah Osborne and Brooke Donaghue bringing home silver for the kiwis in a great moment as well. Amazing Dream results !!!!!!!!
  14. Well folks it looks like a Back packer has wandered onto the BOAY scenery by accident,!!!! and is having some sort of Amazing holiday. The gist of it here Dana Zappa (guess at name) is she is having a wonderful dream time travelling with her friends , has been skiing, the mountains are wonderful. has been meeting with friends for nice flavoured coffee while having a rest. When they woke up , they decided to get information on the mountains , found some new friends at parties during their voyage ...AND say unforgettable the advice they got.
  15. Young Luke Whittaker having a crack at Albion Park today.!!!!! Maybe a working holiday , but He is no Anthony Butt. Luke competed in the junior drivers Championship i see at Chch recently . He has 40 wins in 4 years driving roughly? Somebody should of told him that if the Favourite draws 1 at Albion Park , the lead is NOT there for you to have..hahahaha He took on the Fav BITCOIN, in race 9 tonight at Albion and they whizzed 6 lengths clear of field lol...... Luke dropped in to trail but then ran last. The leader ran 2nd , driven by one of the Brisbane juniors Manzelmann (50 wins this year alone) who looked none to pleased with the unwanted kiwi attention lol...... as he grizzled away to the winner Pete McMullen for half a lap after the finish of the race. quite funny. Luke got no leeway driving in race 10 either , running 4th on the Favourite himself, and had a very unusual unsettled driving style up the straight lol...... certainly got his horses tail swishing. was very amusing .... maybe needs a few more videos of Mark Purdon and Anthony Butt to watch. lol..... once again that race won by Pete McMullen (Near best in Australia driver) with same driver quinella with Manzelmann.

  16. Thanks Davis ! while watching the Olympics and supporting the Aussies and kiwis , then was such a delight to read this article of the fabulous racing the past month. (and of course can I Never bag Blair Orange ever again, lol ) Harness racing should be at the Olympics. would actually be one of the better events !!! most nations love horse racing Am sure the Shiehk would of even sent something along. They do have dressage, showjumpers and eventing horses at the Olympics for the millionaires with their million dollar 'dancing' horses. But the horses in this article are the Best in the World to me !! thanks for posting.
  17. Yes , we've been VERY spoilt by the presence of such great horses and trainers/ drivers from NZ in Brisbane lately. a true delight. 2 years ago Mark turned up with Self Assured and won all those 3 yearold races as well . Now Ray Green has had a great time , and to think he did All the groundwork with the Oz best rep, King of Swing as well, in his early race days. superb. Rickie Alchin is quite a good horseman from NSW . gets good results with his team. His colt Captain Crusader is performing well , and he puts the leading driver Luke on to get good results. Rickie drives ok himself too , actually won the Last Race at Albion driving himself on Black Hawk Joe, from a very hard barrier too. Hey!, if you know the Captaintreacherous sired horse in North Island NZ named HOT AND TREACHEROUS, you can say CAPTAIN CRUSADER by the same stallion, is Exactly the same Type of horse. They are Too good for moderate fields , so takes on the good ones like Krug for example, and runs lots of 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths. Both are terrific horses and you can only wish they get their moment in the Spotlight with a BIG Group race Win at some stage.
  18. Yes the Franklin Park training centre managed by Karen Blanchard. was always the most important North Island hub. It's getting sold you say ?? that will be a critical blow to North Island trotting. 70 years + that facility been there and around 40 trainers listed as users. (and a further 20-30 out of town trainers , who use it when visiting for feature meetings.) Could be part of the Telfer Plan too !!. (shift to Canterbury) maybe they can see what's coming by the sound of it. A poor way to dig out of the Alexandra Park developement disaster. (wonder what happened with INSURANCE with the failed contractors on that developement?? musn't of paid up) I started out at Takanini/Papakura (much closer to Auckland than Pukekohe) I saw all the fabulous trainers at Takanini training gallops track , McKee, Verner, Jillings etc, and THEN the Auckland racing Club SOLD OFF the training facility in early 2000's !!!. what a shock that was , and led to countless re-location disasters. .... real estate gained , horses lost forever ...awful. very sad seeing the amazing places that so many great horses and trainers/drivers / jockeys strutted their stuff just Disappear.
  19. Good grief , that does seem poor indeed for the punters wanting to see both races. The unavailability of training facilities is interesting arguement. Seems with the cost of real estate through the ceiling NZ and Oz you just have to use/re-develop current facilities , just like Telfers are doing. and Pukekohe Training in the north had many barns around the near streets, so if numbers are dropping in the North, wouldn't there be Vacant boxes/ barns for lease.? I can see No Problem with Telfer going big in numbers of horses trained. This means that you can train at a reduced rate , because you make a quid from the large numbers. AND as Brodie wants , New owners can come on-board with shares and some will punt as well, so Must be a GOOD thing?? I do say Yole is dominating Tassie harness with having Too Many horses ( crikey!!!, He has 50 racing today at Launceston) but if Chris Waller can have 700 gallopers on his books , it must be a proven Model to use ? Can only mean one thing . MORE people are involved . A good thing, owners ,young horsepeople etc etc now if only the TAB would take the bets lol..............
  20. That does not sound like an ideal situation. The UK death toll is a tenth of what it was before vaccinating the population there, so something must be working. I had 'free' flu shots while working in a Government Department Vet for a couple of years , a while back. The nurse said that it only works against certain strains , and there are many strains of flu each year. so you might still get flu if in contact with a variant strain, .. They're literally 'Fighting In the Sreets' today in Sydney ,Melbourne and Brisbane with mass Anti-Lockdown protests happening. Very sad , as covid lockdowns are driving people crazy. only 15-20% of the country is vaccinated . once they mostly are vaccinated, they can get back to business like UK has , even with the 'dreaded Flu' rife in the community like it is there. I don't particularly care , and not rushing for a vaccine personally. I had tetnus shots (as high risk 'vet' group) and kids had Menningococal shots (as were high risk 'adolescent' group) for those nasty diseases , and those vaccines are nearly 100% effective. One can only hope, the scientists can develope something safe for the flu too, if it's currently lethal like you say.
  21. Well the Blacks A Fake Group 1 has been run and won at Brisbane and it's the great mare AMAZING DREAM again !!! Maybe some of you kiwis got a piece of that ? was good odds in Australia, as King of Swing goes for a gallop early but still he and Copy That seemed to have their chance afterwards 3rd and 4th. 1st 4. Amazing Dream Nz (4) 2nd 6. Rockin Marty (6) 3rd 2. Jeradas Delight (2) Bet Placed on:24/07/21 20:08:47 AEST You would think Gammalite could of popped the $1.20 fav KOSwing in for third ? in the 2.5k trifecta? . or taken a Quinella that paid $1,300 in QLD ,but not clever enough . had something on the great mare though at 40-1 sportsbet. Tote fixed odds ended up being 60-1 too!!!. quite incredible.
  22. You're a Good Judge Brodster !!!!! and Kim has instructed you well. He's TOP of the TOP 6. !!!!! Mr Anthony Butt !!!!!! Hope you got to see the absolutely Top Notch drives tonight in Brisbane, on TOMMY LINCOLN, then TOUGH MONARCH , then AMERICAN DEALER in the Derby !!!!!!!!!!!!! three of the best ever drives seen at Albion. better than Nat and Mark even !! (did I really say that???) hahahahah Gammalite is gunna be mighty sad once Ant's and all these fabulous visitors from NZ and NSW and Vic leave town. sadsadsda but for the moment Lapping it up. what a treble by Anthony !!! who is Krug? who is Blair O? lol....... great stuff Ray Green.
  23. Definitely NOT a fan of multiple runners in a race, but it happens. Telfer often with a few in the north, (and Bernie Hackett in the trots) and sometimes the things happen we don't like . e.g Temporale , Dance Time , even Beyond Words v Amazing Dream lol..... YOLE in Tasmania , is cheap. Good for cheap owners. Terrible for punters. wouldn't bet a Tassie race with your money !! lol. (wouldn't want to lose it on you) Dixon has 80 in training going roughly at the most. so generally close to lead like YOLE in premiership. Hard to win though . last Sat and then Tuesday , just 2 x 3rds from 18 runners. and Brodster thinks it's easy in Oz ??? lol ............. Telfer's ran ad's on the WEB-site for $55 a day training for many months !! you advertise, you DESERVE results !!!!!!!!!! good on em !!! If the smaller trainers want more horses THEY NEED to WOO owners like Telfers have ? and get some yearling sale purchases , etc. Which stables are short of horses you are thinking of ?
  24. All stars have none now, Cullen had 1 horse past 2 weeks racing so no increase there , Dunn's do they still have a Pukekohe Barn? they seem to have the same number of wins year to year so must be same number of horses in training.?? Telfer's look the only one with a significant increase you describe, and that's because of the re-structure. Doubt any of the Canterbury folk will be scared off. and as Brodster says , will be good to have a big professional stable in the Chch area that can cope with a fair numbers of horses.
