Wow.! what a thrill of her driving career to be driving an Auckland Cup winner for the young Lass !!! A LOT of blokes had a thrill driving Auckland Cup winner Gammalite time to time (a dozen or so ) and they all won on him, as that horse so darn good, could still win , no matter who sat behind him . a rare thing indeed. good on them for putting Olivia on to drive. love it. what a reward. I take it she works at Cullens? and has had a few odd drives here and there. small field for Amazing Dream. So not too much can go wrong. hope she wins it !! COPY THAT going great guns now with 5 wins in a row . well actually, his AUCKLAND CUP 3rd placing, was a huge run just before that as well , narrowly beaten by some of the absolute BEST drives ever from Nat and Mark !!! The Amazing Dream and Spankem Quinella !! masterclass driving. No Mark tonight driving. so maybe 2nd for Amazing Dream. Give yourself a treat and go back and watch that Dec 31st race.

No, no I didn't forget Tim. I put him in up above in the selections to win Race 9 with Stag Party. (or go close) What surprised me was Blair getting the flick off AKUTA , after driving it well to easy win last week and $100,000 winner's cheque for owners CullenRacing and the Markie Boy himself (feet up with a beer in Owners lounge)! Love Nat's driving, but probably would of left Blair Orange on after that BIG win last week in the Harness million 2 year olds race by Akuta. ? bit stiff there BlairO to lose the drive, I reckon?. funny if Blair knocks it off tonight lol? but does seem unlikely, with the 4 x Cullen runners in that Group1 sires Race5 and he is on a 50-1 non-Cullen horse.

Welcome Jonesy !! Hey these things are great . The old Boy" I Can Doosit "wasn't gunna pick a tub while another horse galloping about the paddock like he would like to . What were they thinking ?? lol. I Can Doosit (whatta champ he is/was on the track !!) picked Garrards Horse and Hound , a major sponser around Australasia. I trained a horse for the founder Chris Garrard in Brisbane a while back . He'd often come around to the stable Sunday afternoon's like a lot of owners to check over there steeds and have a yarn, while you catch up on some shoeing or whatever. Chris has sponsored $100,000 's into racing. an amazing man. His Grandson Angus Garrard started driving at 17 year's old, 2 years ago in Brisbane, and has 200 odd driving wins already.!! quite astounding . 7th on the senior drivers table last season. I gave Angus's dad Darren Garrard (who only drove for a short while, and now a current Brisbane trainer) one drive once on a horse of mine , and he won too. excellent. Hope the needle jab settles for you Jonesy, Check out Sir Elton John doing the British Ad for vaccination on Youtube It is super funny , as he loses out to Sir Michael Caine.

Does seem rather harsh on McGrath. on a couple of basis points. The first to go was McGrath with a long sentence as a deterrent and example to others, then obviously Alford NOT deterred and went ahead with elaborate plan anyway. So should that make it be longer than the previous bloke , NOT shorter. (DQ sentence) and in Alford's case, didn't they accidently kill a horse? I mean that is pretty drastic. mis-treatment in more ways than one. and Formalin is what we used at Vet to 'Preserve' Biopsy samples from surgery in. It fixes tissue. and that was only 15% solution too. very strong stuff. you would rush to wash it off your skin if got a tiny splash on you , as is a very harsh chemical. Inject It into horse ?? deserves BIG sentence IMO.

After 5 WINS and a couple of trot second placings last Friday , Natalie is sure to go close to a repeat dose tonight. !! Some fabulous racing , and while Mark is smoking his pipe in the Owners lounge , waiting for Nat to bring AKUTA home in first place, Nat will be out on the Track doing the Hard yards , and looking after all the Punters ! (yet again) RACE2 Samhara R3, Wy Fi ,R4 OscarB, R5 Akuta, R6 SCArden, R7 RegalAttire, R8 BettorTwist (the Oaks G1) R9 ItalianLad Let's go for 4 WINS and 4 places. Too hard to win 8 races?? lol......... SPORTSBET odds WINS with Samhara@1.5 ,Akuta@2.0 ,SC Arden@1.3 , BettorTwist@1.2 and PLACES for the trotters (as more risky) Wi Fi@1.8 ,OscarB@1.3 ,RegalAttire@2.0 and ItalianLad@1.3 ITALIAN LAD (place) not a trotter I know , (but has had more chances than Brodie), and surely STAG PARTY (the Cullen stablemate) wins from the Pole draw? 27-1 odds !!!! brilliant ! a fiver gets you $100 and a couple of beers for the weekend ? yeah yeah, probably miss with one or 2 leg,s BUT you get to enjoy some GREAT racing Along the Way !!! Enjoy.

Jesse Alford (7 yearsDQ) , Nigel McGrath (8 yearsDQ) , and ....... not sure on third BUT , WHY did these 2 Trainers get a different sentence for the same thing ?
-
yes that Alford thing was pretty ordinary lately. never heard of that injection before. about once a month in Aus somewhere , someone will be trying the same thing. i.e (milkshake from the 90's era) and getting DQed. usually small time trainers running the gauntlet. in a different era they were fairly common, but testing this century is just too accurate. Irregularities pop up all the time, as horses are 'treated' all the time .just recently Amanda Turnbull and Kerryanne Morris (high profile trainers) are dealing with irregularities too. a lot of it is 'good staff' issues too, which I suspect is the case with the Sharrock Meth over their. Chris Waller had one of those in 2016 too. got off with a very big fine. wonder what happened to the staff member ?? lol.......

So they bet only on Ozzie gallopers and not the harness? I can understand that if it is the gallops as divs are probably higher as fields have many chances . Are any of these winning punters on heavy restrictions in Oz or do they bet with the oncourse Bookies? well the truth is the majority of harness horses racing in Australia , are going around week to week , just hoping for a good draw, and earning enough prize money to keep them going until the next week. not really set up for a punt by the stable or anything. Therefore are NOT a great Punting proposition. Only a very few are 'Set for particular races' like at the gallops , so are just playing for luck. Most metro (city racing) gallopers have a racing manager that 'set's out a raceplan' sometimes including race tactics even. stepping up in distance each start , to reach an OPTIMUM point of their preparation. (there are feature every week , every state, in Oz that many are primed for) Therefore are a SOLID Punting proposition. and the corporate bookies will accommodate the large bets , for loyal customers , that bet with them consistantly (each week) , and they know who they are. plenty of betting syndicates around. bit like that' Boys get Paid' . I signed in my 500 per week, for a six month term contract, but dropped out at that point as ,even though marginally in front, there was NO ENjoyment in not picking the Bets yourself. All done by computer I think. A lot of Gai Waterhouse runners too. !!! lol...... to be sure Robbie was involved lol......
-
best way is to work out who will lead the race , then plonk the dollars on the horse that will be trailing that said leader, (and who is in on the plan by now) and won't be giving the lead up , come hell or high water, no matter what comes at him. then possibly drift out in home straight? enabling trailing horse to whiz through to easy victory?
-
Exactly right. excellent post. A great attitude by you to support all levels of sport, whatever that sport might be, as an enthusiast of that sport. And also yes, Definitely have a budget . no good giving money away and chasing later .Brodie wanted to turnover $1 mill per year lol.. I just try and double 500 each week, and stick to that. You are absolutely right in that one should bet on what they have knowledge of. and of course What you find Entertaining.

You must be Loving the new Vaccination ad's on NZ tele Brodster !! hehe they just put them on the news in Aus , with the big kiwi humour , partying angle of things . quite funny. no ad's broadcast here yet. Personally I know about 10 blokes well at TAB's and NONE back Harness at all, and none even bet midweek gallops. They just bet on the BETTER HORSES that race at the Saturday Metro meetings (equal to betting at your Premier harness meetings) so is quite normal to BET and WIN on the best races available, with quality runners. This is quite NORMAL behaviour. (To get enjoyment and/or bet on the BEST horses and horsepeople) Decision: Verry Elleegant , or some midweek gallop battler should I put $ on ?? mmmmmmmmmm
-
Apologies about the pitiful fields bit offending. I should of just said that very little Winning Form exposed. Cha Cha B being one of only 4 or so last start winners. I by No means mean that NZ horses and drivers are pitiful. In fact you probably see through my posts this year, that I admire them greatly, more than most. Was even looking forward to seeing Cullen, Dunn and Dalgety runners to see the Greats in action !! y, the Galah and Brodie are VERY GOOD judges . I have no doubts on that from your observations and Brodies TAB exploits. Both you likely to go to ANY NZ meeting and pick the bones out of it . (and fairly accurately too) enough to get banned even lol..... a minor difference being one of you seems to enjoy the racing and one doesn't lol.... I love watching Cullens go round. always Near the placings. always give you something to watch. Is like watching a masterclass ! Instead of standard run of mill 'Midweek' races !! or 'risking' a trotter having a tango out the back of the field from those silly out-dated Standing Starts.. lol... BTW the Brisbane midweek AND even the weekend races I describe as pitiful. (To BET on) is what I mean. not the horsepeople.
-
Well I hope your guarantee is wrong and someone is winning on them.!! lol...... all going well. Unfortunately , odds here don't pop up until race day in advance at the trots. Never for NZ or Brisbane trots. so never get to see any until the day but have bets planned by then anyway. NO WAY do I ever Let a Market decide who can win a race. totally just draw and winning form ability for selections. But Sportsbet will post early markets for 'Feature and Group races. ( the races which I love anyway) so had a quick check and 5 markets are open. 2 x group 'Trots' at Melton. (skip as trotters gallop and risky) and a group 3 with SPELLBOUND from NZ (won last 3 for Nathan Purdon) . also 2 x races Menangle . MUSCLE FACTORY (for McCarthy stable won 4 of last 6) and the other race, the brilliant ALTA ORLANDO (owned by Dunn's , brilliant ex-Nzer also at the leading McCarthy stable) so in a just a few minutes have a GOOD bet for you !!!! SPELLBOUND-MUSCLE FACTORY-ALTA ORLANDO at 10-1 for the treble !!! HUGE chance. $11 will give you a hundred? and you're supporting a few kiwi owners and horses to boot !! excellent. What a way bettor risk , than those midweek fields
-
Still Not convinced. No way could an average person make money punting on those fields yesterday. There was no winning form on the card much at all. Who wants to back Non-winners?am trying to WIN bets.? I understand Brodie places large place bets , so might get something that way. I did Shan Noble a place in the Derby as the 4-1 for a place looked juicy. missed 3rd by 1/2 head. but was a risk against Krug I spose. that didn't pay. team driving normally helps as What Could be better than having some others in the race Looking Out for You?? Must greatly INCREASE your bet chances being in the team? great. But wow! Just the thought of losing more than $20 risking on say Cha cha B , best performer yesterday in action, is hard to do (and laugh at you blokes betting on slow horses like those ?) just kidding ! lol .. I wish you good luck with any of your investments.$$$$$ I live off punt as only income, (mainly football , as only 2 starters !! ) Liverpool (epl) and WesternBulldogs (Afl) were both $2.40 at the weekend , so looked STRONG chances and great odds. I only put money on that is great chance of winning, not just hope can run somewhere, like yesterdays fields sorry. Love the Sunday races on grass for people out on a picnic though !! people with a few bucks each way, picking a horse name, or some pretty silks. Now that is REAL GRASS ROOTS support and betting !!!! No, no, no I didn't suggest that. I'm not on Betfair , and have never backed a horse to 'lose a race' Ever. I meant if I backed Amazing Dream or similar (a GOOD Horse) and it got beaten by Copy That or whatever. I feel ok as bet only on Good horses I think can win. and if they don't, they usually go close and give you a run for your money anyway.
-
Very Noble of you Galah and could be accurate. I find that hard to believe personally, you can make money as a punter on horses like that meeting. (I spose Cha Cha B nearly won, but wow !! seriously?? could you back it ? even with Blair on ? what a risk.!!!! Brodie says backs loose class horses including maidens. hahaha not many winners in a maiden field ?? Waaaaaaay better fields and bets on Friday at Addington and Auckland. (I gave up grass as well lol......) Very Easy to make money on Good horses !!!!!!!!! and very easy to lose it on slow ones ?? you betcha, like that lot yesterday. and if you want to 'Risk' money bets , I say Might as well lose it ON A GOOD HORSE getting beat narrowly, than a BAD (slow) horse that doesn't win very often. Go Nat Friday !!! again?? you betcha....

First the Dogs and now our Gallopers are on Methamphetamine!
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
What will be the penalty Chief? said a Manawatu Trainer got 3 years DQ for Meth in 2014. that must be from a guilty plea by someone? The greyhound's dog trainer Turnwald has 4 month's DQ and wasn't even travelling with the dog. Chris Waller (Syd) had a horse disqualified from a 2nd placing pos+ Meth swab, in 2016 , and received a massive $30,000 fine. no DQ. He has a rather large operation, 100's of horses, well over 100 staff. guess they somehow worked out it was a knobbling. Is quite indifferent penalties though , depending who and where you are ?. -
Very slick advert from the Aussie anti racing brigade...
Gammalite replied to NZRacing's topic in Galloping Chat
Yes that video came out a couple of years ago , and is just plain annoying. Shoots itself in the foot, like the shot horse in it, by describing at the start as a honest Government Ad . That's Completely dishonest, for starts. And then the silly girl making out she's drunk at the end, like the people she be-littles through the story. Is she aspiring to reach those levels ? Gambling addiction (or alcohol for that matter) hardly caused by the once a year Great race. Horses have been part of the Australian culture since first settlers. Thoroughbreds are probably the 'Creme Of the CROP' of all horses , and are treated like GOLD in general. Stockhorses , etc get a rougher deal. I spose we were Lucky to avoid an ADD-on from the last Melbourne Cup and Anthony Van Dyck, the favourite in the race, getting put down after the race. Horses live and Die , just like people. and some have the chance to do something that they Love to Do .!! run and run . The beautiful thoroughbred horse !! (treated well in general, unlike us having to watch these type of videos) better off doing one (video) on cars, and car safety ( that does cost the country millions, with death and injury) to get people to drive better and with more concentration IMO. -
Well the driver (Jason Lee) got a bit carried away , and tried to loop the small field , with a first-up horse, a lap out, so battled into third place. pretty ordinary drive. but LUKE JOHN tried hard. should of just made one run at them, when first up. asked a bit much. The winner , with a waaaaay better kiwi driver , Mr Anthony Butt , strolling along in front and clinging on. PLATINUM STRIDE now win number 44 for Ant's and fiancee' Sonya Smith training partnership , this year. (from just 128 starters !!) A fantastic strike rate !!! tha'ts better than a win every three starts ! wow that is good. and Anthony and Sonya also had a brilliant 3rd place in the Miracle Mile this year, with WOLF STRIDE. A fabulous effort behind the best 2 horses in Australia from the McCarthy stable, King of Swing and Expensive Ego .
-
Apologies , yes i tangled a bit earlier , and meant to say Anthony Butt has the 'main' opponent tonight in Platinum Stride. Nathan Purdon trains LUKE JOHN and has Jason Lee engaged to drive , an incredibly talented driver (45 wins from 200 drives this year) and should be winning. Nathan Purdon will one day , be a leading force in Australia training. He was a fair driver too in his day , had a two month campaign in QLD with Triton horses one year not long ago, and won every second day . about 30 wins. Triton now gone to America. If Nathan gets that continual flow of kiwi horses like Spellbound and Luke John he will be BIG TIME TRAINER. McCarthy (NSW) and Hall's in WA have won all the big ones picking up ex-pat kiwi's, and of course TIGER TARA winning Interdom for Kevin Pizzuto too, along with a stack of races. Kiwi's always welcome in Oz. !!!
-
well the 3 year olds have just gone off in 1.53 in the fillies and the colts divisions at Menangle as predicted. NO Slowing down midweek.!!! lol.... The trot saw RITUER win at 25-1 , could only go 2.08 or so in NZ , where had 6 wins. Tailored Elegance was the favourite at 2-1 for Luke McCarthy's. When at Allstars TAILORED ELEGANCE was trotting 2.03 so should be beating Rituer by 50m. only 5th today ??? That Just shows how good Mark and Nat are at punching out times and winners. !!! way better than Australia's best ! (McCarthy's) anyway.
-
He was suspended from driving the other night at Addington. still owns a chunk of the feature race winner AKUTA though, which was a 200k race (100k to winner) so will be smiling today somewhere !!! good on him. deserves it.
-
Well , let us have them then Brodster !!! you can't get a bet on , but some of us can. lol. Can only help you with LUKE JOHN turning up at Melton tonight for young Nathan Purdon. home and hosed? After the brilliant NAT display on Friday, that you must of enjoyed? I got about $1200 in front. Stupid galloping Gytrash is just trash I reckon after killing off 2k of the multi's in the Goodwood Sat on his home track with piss-weak 3rd , so maybe you can pull me back a couple of hundred? what you got ?
-
Here's your boy ! after another day at the the 'office' . Southland conditions a bit harsher than Queensland is what springs to mind?. lol. glad I drove in Queensland mainly lol...... And Queensland had 41.000 at the super rugby final the other day. my son went along. after years at the bottom the Reds are firing again ??? the Auckland Blues waaaaay to good for the Rebels last Sat 50-3 hahaha . Kiwis are still STRONG in rugby ok. !!
-
I've got NO IDEA Hunter. what does Blossoms post mean? what has horse semen got to do with anything ?
-
wow if you can find something at Addington to bet on , you are doing better than me. ( but yes what a beautiful track) Tell you what , Tim and Anthony Butt now run stables in Victoria, as were sick and tired of McCarthy's busting the guts of their runners at Menangle NSW, and tonight LUKE JOHN starting at Melton in the last . probably $1.10 over there though. Would be an absolute certainty though you would think, in first Aus run. given the quality he raced in NZ.
