  1. Sarah driving against Junior drivers??. Don't worry about what horse it is mate. just collect the divvies !! 💰 $12 the Win is Christmas shopping at it's best ! She outdrove clean as a whistle.!!!! Missed out on 'Invitation Only' for the SarahO double rather sadly though , as had stepped out and missed it. Hoping you and some Punters got something from Sonoma or the Invited Dalgety runner ok.
  2. Well he certainly brought the industry into disrepute alright. as did the broadcast ABC homing the racehorse article. As far as re-applying for training goes. Moody and O'Brien came back from time out to win big races after serving their 'time' recent years. I don't know if you will get the "gone right off for good" that you desire. Sounds like a good idea going by the history of the chap. Maybe a longer sentence would deter others further.? Whatever they (those that give the Penalties) decide is fine by me , whether it be 4 years or 10 years though. It's their job to 'Police' the Licensee's so hope they know what they're doing. High profile trainer Nigel McGrath got a very long 'administer Milkshake' sentence not that long ago of 8 years in Canterbury. That is more than double the Oz penalty for same thing. A bold bid to stamp out the cheats. Do what it takes to keep the racing honest. and NO MORE Disrepute would be great !!!
  3. The case did go to law courts so quite severe you would think. Way more than a one rating. Just Not Acceptable these days of horse welfare issues. His lawyer worked the plea bargain (as he should as that what lawyers do) And along with the 💰 fine , the hefty disqualification of 4 years, and the complete shattering of his reputation there has been a Lot of Penalty dished out to Weir You can't exactly put his head and hands in stocks or anything, .And as some posters have sensibly pointed out , there is a LOT of behind the scenes 'activity' that goes on (and more than one person involved too.) But once you've served your time dished out from authorities (and courts) you're free to move on . Not ideal for a lot of criminals but you just have to rely on the justice system, like it or lump it. I remember batteries in whips and that sort of thing (did Not use one myself) but stewards always checked after races the whips as you came back to scale , Before giving the All Clear.
  4. Tell ya what we get here Qld. The fixed odds up on Sportsbet today for Addington and Auckland, but haven't got the Fixed odds for the 6 x Oz Fri trot meetings 😆.. might be some of your favourite drivers winning with Blair , Tim and Mark out on the town Invercargill nightlife on Fri 😂. (prepping themselves up for Saturday Cup Day) What about SarahO in the trot's? great chance on Sonama Tyron against junior drivers. Could take the double later on with The Bloss too ?, in the small field and placed in a Group 2 recently when Sarah drove it. seems I can get odds 100-1 for 2 wins, but can only get 7-1 for 2 placings. solid chance though.💰
  5. Yes a lot of things can be derived as cruel as far as 'horse racing' goes. Breaking In , drenching , Whip use, even getting the buggers to swim or even get on a float or barrier? can lead to some 'Not so kind' incidents at times. The ABC article was because people were upset by horses being chased up a shute too. At the Abbotoir no less . My very own children don't support racing at All with the great 'Whip debate' thing that happened , and horse welfare. So i'm pretty sad about that. The sport of Kings a fading Star. I see your passion (as all do here ) for outing the offenders of Jiggergate , he did get 4 years. People get less for delibarately driving drunk and killing/ maiming innocents someone's on the road. Then they Can't wait to get their license back.? Will they re-offend? I doubt Weir would re-offend in racing , but who knows I guess. And No, I'm not gunna kick my little Leo dog for you or No-mates either ..
  6. What sort of comment is that ??? An article about Joe on a swearing bender on someone he hates, and you come out with that against a forum poster who you have NO IDEA if he does animal cruelty or not ... People are crueller to each other more than animals. Have a look at All the political hatred on these sites. And you guys turning on each other because of something Weir did. I just completed Jury Service not that long ago and Cruelty you See, by people To Each other makes one sick. (Bit like comments on this thread in a way) . Nearly All trainers look after their horses like Pets . (as far as I have seen through the 2 countries) I'm sure the Forum Posters do too?.
  7. Thanks for that correction. Will be just Hayden then , getting confused on who to cheer for lol. Mate , there is a thing called 'Respect' that I am sure most horsepeople can use when changing location of employment . Can't think of anyone myself , that was blabbing/bad mouthing when moving on (very important). You USUALLY keep the training methods to themselves out of respect , thus keeping 'their's' and 'yours' reputation and honour intact (important ) , and FOND Memories of the their previous stables exploits are kept just that !!! (also important)
  8. Think Davis has covered a few of your boys that have moved on. Change as good as a holiday? 😆 Maybe Mr Cullen enjoyed seeing his Triangle colours going around a year back and has aspirations to have a go self. Affliating with a main rival is unusual , but Hayden was doing a fine job , so perhaps 'thee old cash' has come into play as it often does in big business. Footy players change clubs here and there for various reasons. (mainly money) AKUTA the best horse in the nation (top 5 anyway) is raced by Cullen Racing Ltd and Mark himself , so wonder what will happen with that ? The up-coming BD Joe v Akuta clashes will be awkward ?
  9. A ripper of a horse. Beat their Interdominion placegetter ACT NOW 2 years ago in the Breeders Crown. shows the heights he could of reached before the bad injury luck set in. Emma Stewart about to 'Smash Australia' with Captain Ravishing next year Paleface ?? I heard he could be the Best horse ever to hit the track downunder .? Melton track record last month. Skies the limit.
  10. You might fail the audition. Plenty of Muppets on other channels lol.....
  11. That reminded me of a doily. Which led to a memory of one of the greats of NZ Harness Racing Bill Doyle. Great article Chief !!. full of Great memories (a bit like Like the doom fated museum soon). Hey Bill Doyle had a big result in the year Scotch Notch took Auckland by storm in the Interdominion Trot Final . CJ driving then must be only driver of this lot still going. ( and Richard B in Vic now) Remember 'About Now' with solid 4th in that. ........and there goes your boy 'McShane' as well.🏆 And look at that winning margin (off 10m behind too) what a rocket Scotch Notch was at the time .. outstanding. 14 1983 (NZ): ALEXANDRA PARK Trainer Driver 1 SCOTCH NOTCH (10m) Graeme LANG Graeme LANG Scotch Notch Inter Dominion Hall Of Fame 2 JENNER (10m) Charlie HUNTER Charlie HUNTER 3 SIR CASTLETON (10m) Mawson McPHERSON Paddy TIMMINS 4 ABOUT NOW (10m) Bill DOYLE Colin DE FILIPPI 5 SURE COURT (Front) Ian CRAW Richard BROSNAN 6 THRILLER DEE (10m) Len ROBINSON Peter WOLFENDEN 7 BASIL DEAN (Front) Bob JAMISON Kerry O'REILLY 8 MCSHANE (Front) Ray NORTON Ray NORTON 9 MINI'S PRIDE (Front) Peter JONES Owen PURDON 10 WAR TALENT (Front) Merv SHORT Merv SHORT 11 KENWOOD SONG (Front) Charlie HUNTER John LANGDON 12 SKIPPER DON (Front) Kevin MURRAY Kevin MURRAY 13 POLLY LOBELL (Front) Ian HUNTER Ian HUNTER Race Replay (2700m - SS) 19/03/1983 $NZ60,200 (Race Book) Margins: 6 lengths X long neck. 12. Oh com'on , a bit of Crochet never hurt anyone . I'm already perfecting New -Style Crochet 'Deafeners ' to send over to Nat and Mark to get the team looking great ! Think they'll like em'?
  13. 8 wins from 33 starts in Nz from 2018 to mid 2020 in Nz for I Cast No Shadow. So not too shabby. Whoever had it there got all the groundwork done ok. Thought the writing was on the wall and had even had something on it , when the 'Shadow' won the Group 1 LenSmith mile (beating one of the favs from last night HonaluaBay ) in a sizzling 1.48.8. in October. That is flying in my book. Now owned by 'grandma' Diane Reilly on her own. Been racing horses for 60 years and finally cracked the Big race.
  14. Well the QUEEN ELIDA trots into 3rd for the Nz connections but the good news is the Winner JUST BELIEVE has a great large group of owners who can all share the glory . And Just Believe did win all 3 of his heats including defeating the series favourite Bolt For Brilliance so great to see him get the Win , with the Bolt sadly unable to get to the Final with the injury. Well done Greg Sugars on a super drive to sit outside an idling pacemaker and judge it well to run it down late.
  15. LoL.. is that a kiwi trick ? Bit of cunning way to gallop out the back ? Those idiot Gleeson boys used a blade to do some cutting and WTF ? didn't they expect the stewards to inspect the Broken gear flapping about the legs of the odds on favourite ? Maybe they should of just put the horse in their Superfecta bet would of been easier lol.. 😆
  16. Who is it Brodster ? We had a 'Colgate Kid ' here in Oz at Harold Park. Very funny story you (and Blackie) would find amusing. He was the leading Trainer /Driver at Harold Park around 1995. Big gleaming smile to get the nickname. will see if can find a photo. His Brother had a punt against their hot fav stable runner and they 'Cut the Hopples' to make horse gallop so it didn't win . got life Ban lol 😂 Coloresque failed to finish as short-priced favourite in a race at Harold Park on November 14, 1995, and a subsequent marathon inquiry found the pacer's hopples had been deliberately cut. It was alleged Gleeson's brother Matthew had placed a winning superfecta bet on the race, omitting Coloresque from the first six placings for a net profit of $12,000. Matthew Gleeson and Queensland harness racing licensee Paul Skinner were also given life bans.
  17. Bloody Aussies. Win at All costs attitude 🤣. Even if it means beating your own stable runners 😂. Josh Duggan , age 30 , about 600 wins, Zero Group 1 wins . Spose you can't blame Chris Alford for taking the Queen Elida drive . Sleepee Hasn't won since Winter last year in 12 starts. Meanwhile in that same time-frame, Chris has steered the 'QUEEN' to 14 wins from 18 starts. !! very Impressive . and 3 placings too. The other race she ran 2nd in a Group 3 FFA to 'Mufasa Metro' (the main danger tomorrow???) when driven by the great Anthony Butt. Chris drove his own horse 'Woblee' on that occasion and was well beat. Best of luck to Nz owners Barron family and McKenzie family for the Queen to get the Interdominion title .🏆.
  18. Yes a lot of these drivers put the Training Licence in the Wife or partners name , for this very reason. They might get a better drive time to time than their Own Stable runner. Chris Alford using wife Alison's name, Greg Sugars uses partner Jess Tubbs name. Luke McCarthy uses the Mrs name as well (in Belinda.) Pete McMullen drives against his Own horses sometimes in QLD by putting them in his wife Chantal Turpin's name. I Don't Like It One little Bit. I'll slap Grant (Dixon) in the face if he suddenly put his team in Trista's name to take outside drives against her 🤣. Surely they must have some pride in preparing the runners ? The owners must Hate It. At least in Nz they're more honest about who is working the team and 'Proud' To go on the Licence and drive their OWN STABLE's horses.
  19. 'Sleepee' has One GIANT obstacle to overcome. His Trainer is driving Queen Elida. A family member is the Leesee of 'Sleepee'. I would tell Chris to take a running jump if it was me lol... trying to beat your own stable horse 😂. what is the world coming too?.
  20. Hey . You nearly got your prediction 😧.!!! one place off the outside second row. Queen Elida has kiwi born trainer and lots of kiwi Owners so let's hope she can get the bikkies with the 'Bolt' out of action. 21. Sort of 3rd all the way tonight was Outlaw Man and Sam Thornley tonight. fancy drawing the same horse as last night what are the chances ?? Emily Suvaljko winning both heats tonight for WA. she's a pretty handy driver like Sarah O when she gets going. Sam drove a winner for ex-pat kiwi trainer Brent Lilley in an ealier race which was nice. (Brent also giving Crystal a drive on the 3rd placegetter. Reckon they are having a fun time !! good on em'.
  22. Yes just having a look and see 2 of the Emergencies Coachella and Anna Love have 2 lifetime wins . The same as Chambray (who won both hers at Addington so possibly higher rating ones) The 3rd horse that was emergency for the Oaks JOES ROCK has 4 lifetime wins so yeah, I would of chucked her in for a crack at it ahead of Chambray personally. Chambray with a very high profile ownership group I spose, gets the favours.
  23. Good call Richie !! Sam T won both races tonight . With fellow kiwis Cyrstal Hackett 2nd in one and Sarah O'Reilly 2nd in the other . 2 Nz Quinellas !!! . showing the Aussies how to do it lol.😆 The QLDer Brendan Barnes 3rd and 4th in those heats tonight . He won the Fast class at Albion on a horse he now trains. The old NZ war-horse NORTHVIEW HUSTLER. doing very well for a young fella. he's actually only 25 and had over 700 wins driving.
  24. I'm in total awe. just uncanny how many they win. EVERY year she just about takes the Trifecta in all the age group sires stakes races. The mega-star Vinnie Knight could get horses in and work wonders too. It's a lot to do with the fast work they do with them. Could be a' Weight of Numbers' thing too that I mentioned earlier. Five in the Interdominion Final this week for Emma Stewart !!!!!!! If she doesn't Win that, there's something wrong lol. Yes a great comparison!! To the FIVE horses that Allstars got in the 2019 Interdominion Grand Final at Auckland not that long ago. (Nat winning of course) think John Dunn drove one. that was really funny to pop on the arch rival lol. Just a minor thing that I know you realise. The Harness horses a WAY way more consistant than thoroughbreds. Form lines are way easier to read. esp times run. Thoroughbreds race from first-up (usually unplaced) to fitness across 2 or 3 more races sometimes, and peak at a certain target race. no one says anything?. I actually think Most Pacers and trotters CAN win first up . The Trainers are very good . esp NZ Premier Ones 😉🥇
