  1. It's nearly here . Eureka . the first of it's kind. Probably Not of much interest to you guys as New Zealanders have been excluded . (should try that at Rugby World Cup ๐Ÿ˜‰? ) Marky Boy will be spitting chips as his 4 year old AKUTA would of donkey licked this lot .๐Ÿ™„ My QLD mate Grant sent a text today and has arrived down there safely and settled in well with the Queenslander LEAP TO FAME . Can he Win it from that outside alley though ? ๐Ÿค” bit tough out there. We have 5 x Captain Treacherous horses running , 3 x Bettor's Delights, , a Sweet Lou from Tassie (yikes) , and a SomeBeachSomewhere running . That is great representation from the Captain T ? 2. Didn't know Peter but he had a great time racing Stormy Morn. RIP peter. quite a cute story of rags to riches for his horse ! Peter's father Jim Moore bred Stormy Morn and when Jim passed , a brother of Peter's named Stan received Stormy in the will. Stan tried Stormy as a young horse with a trainer but he showed nothing so Peter bought him off his brother for $150 as a riding Hack for his then 12 year old daughter Diane. Stormy was too much of a 'handful' for the young lass so Peter popped Stormy in training with Trevor Thomas . eventually qualifying and having just one 3 year old start. ( fin 3rd to About Now) 4 seasons later and after many wins with Trevor Thomas and successful Australian campaigns with Jimmy O'Sullivan winning an impressive 11 wins from 25 starts in Australia. Stormy as a 7 year old made his way into the stable of Tony Perucich , a former Canterbury Trainer who had shifted to Pukekohe. Tony and Stormy went on a Group 1 crusade and took victory that season in the Inter-Island Stakes, the Nz trotting FFA , the Dominion Handicap off 10m, The Rowe Cup off 15m and the New Zealand National trot as a cherry on top for the Big 5. He had to race some of the great trotting names for his wins ,No Response, Jenner, Sir Castleton, Thriller Dee and Scotch Tar ( placed 2nd in Scotch Tar's dominion h'cap win) I reckon Peter would of got a huge Thrill in February 1981 when Stormy Morn Won the the Australasian Trotting Championship in a track record at the famous Moonee Valley when Jimmy O'Sullivan steered him for a Big NZ First 4 placings beating the 2 previous Interdominion Trot Grand Final winners No Response (Richard Brosnan ) 2nd, Hano Direct (Doody Townley) 3rd and Kate's Return (Jack Carmichael) 4th .. A very proud owner he would of been for Nz that day.....
  3. Mate , you would be the best stipe going !! . 100% agree with everything you noticed in each state. Fits to a Tee , what is happening. Yes indeed, none of those things really help the betting product , ( i just back gallops now) I think team driving for Emma Stewart sounds bad , but upon watching all her great record in age group races in Victoria , I liken it to sometimes being like Allstars . They are great at getting a 'few' into a quality/group/ or sires stakes race and therefore drive to get the win without nullifying each others chance and not minding which one takes victory most of the time. Tasmania is better racing when they run the State Feature races during the year. as Yole is Not good enough to have any runners in feature races . He just is still to this day, just 'stack loading' the slowest class races he can find. Australia's leading trainer ? can't even win a feature in his home state . so embarassing for harness racing. New Zealand harness racing is still a nice product , but the Fields are often still too big ?. Need to go with 10 runners. and the horses don't race often enough to follow . because of the weather a lot are rested through winter . just keep rolling all year round throughout Oz. so a couple of reasons there , someone having a punt like myself or Brodie even as he said , won't be on.....
  4. Yes the bookies have to be very careful with their odds. It's a huge thing every Saturday in Australia with stunningly huge bets going on in all the metro racing cities. The Betting effected by Betting Syndicates , whom pool a large amount and set out to beat the books . A bit like Boys Get Paid I spose , but the bets are spread a lot more as quite a few are 'attacking' They even encourage the 'average Joe Punter' to join in this way these days, and relentlessly advertise 'Bet with Mates' option is the way to go , as this obviously forces the Joe to put in more cash each week than he would on his own. ๐Ÿ˜‚. a very clever con job. Get your mates to help you lose and support their cause lol.... In harness racing they can't do it . there's too much of a risk element in the running . Gallopers can come from last to win. Pacers usually cannot. etc. On a smaller scale you can get inside knowledge and make a win that way. There was a 'Boat' race at Albion last Saturday night that paid off well for a few. Trainers and Drivers get away with it as they go around so often , most races that one 'boat' doesn't warrant a lot of attention now and then, and keeps people (these punters/owners) interested.
  5. There's just too many good galloping races and football to bet on. that stops the harness racing interest in Aus for a lot of punters. Punters Love Emma Stewart and Allstars runners in the harness world . Because they run true to form. Can't go wrong with Millwood Nike , Akuta etc... lol. Ladies in Red has won 22 (and 5 x 2nds) from 27 starts for Emma. you would be WELL in Front if followed her through. The LOST Storm i'm terrified might beat my mate Queensland horse ' Leap To Fame' in the $2,000,000 Eureka soon next week . He won the QLD derby for Emma by 6 lengths untouched in July . (now 11 wins from 13 starts) think he gets the Pole draw in the Eureka from being the only 3 year old in it !!!. hard to beat.. Emma likewise has many 'picket fence' runners. Serious punters aren't gunna back Country Vic runners mate, and just hope for the best . They're gunna back the good horses in the city . Like Emma's or Allstars. I'm already putting Nz Cup bets on. !! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ†
  6. Mrs McCArthy did a year out DQ once . Currently the other big stable at Menangle has it's figurehead Kerryann Morris out for 6 months DQ with a positive. bad girl Mrs Morris. How very Lucky for Luke McCarthy and Robbie Morris that they both conveniently put the Trainers Licence in theirs wives names over the years, so they take the Disqualification should the need arise ๐Ÿ˜„. ....no divorce offered as yet.. ๐Ÿ˜‚. Wonder if Grimson and/or Trainor are getting married soon ?๐Ÿ˜‚
  7. thats a Fair call Chief. and yes Menangle is a fast track. I've checked it out and yes the horse did have some good races last year as you say.... and has just resumed after a year off the track when ran unplaced last month a couple of times for Jack. Still ....Grimson is going to do very well with it (My NameisJeff) going by the thundering run last Saturday . and if you aim for the stars, like he did with Swayzee , ya just might get there I spose.
  8. Yes there definitely is a variable somewhere , that is working flat out crazy ๐Ÿค”. You have to remember too, that the concern is on the repercussions of these 'improvements as well. These are ALL horses someone else has worked with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Allstars are champions in NZ and make most /nearly all the Winners into winners themselves. How do Tim Butts owners feel ? when suddenly a horse he had trained, goes to another stable, and then immeadiately starts winning group 1's !! . Swayzee. (after 8 unplaced mid-week runs for Tim this year) makes him look bad ? silly or something. Victorian Russell Jack is a very good horseman , and driver Nathan Jack too (in the game a long time, just like Time Butt) but suddenly looks like a mug Trainer as My NAMEISJEFF blasts away from the field at $1.70 in 1.49 mile , just 6 weeks after running a couple of lasts for the Jack stable. His owners are gunna be a little perplexed and you end up with on-going issues...... One Stable IMproving Every horse they get (well 2 stables as Jack Trainor too) will cause ISSUes in all the other stables? . Look at that unhappy bloke even wanting to fight about it lol...๐Ÿ˜†
  9. Mate the list goes on and on and on and on. Way past being just 'Bettor's Delight' Improvement with age. ( I think some, like one of their first star runners, who exceded expectations a couple of years ago, and who made a Miracle Mile field, named Stylish Memphis by Bettors Delight were actually getting worse with age performance wise for Trainor /Grimson) but anyway , lets go more recent. The 'Fight ' horse , and now Group 1 winner SWAYZEE is by RockNRoll Heaven and improved out of sight once he took it off Tim Butt earlier this year. as the Galah pointed out Just last Saturday night HI MYNAMEISJEFF , a Nz bred by Art Major, first start for the Grimson machine after starting 20-1 last month at Bendigo , 10-1 at Kilmore and running nowhere, Suddenly turns up with Grimson and runs 1.48.9 (exceptionally fast) and wins by 6 lengths at $1.70 favourite ?? hahahaha no wonder i'm cynical lol๐Ÿ˜‚ They also won the first race last Saturday with (another Nz plodder) BUBBA SCRUB who only has 2 wins from 5 starts for Grimson (poor by his standards lol ๐Ÿ˜†) By Hes Watching so not your stallion theory either. Anyways the 'BUBBA' thundered home to win in 1.51 as second fav. don't get me started on Loyalist either ๐Ÿ˜„
  10. You are right in respect that a Trainer with runners winning being swabbed and Blood tested nearly every time , and Nothing Found , should be not accused of cheating without evidence. In fairness to Grimson , another Trainer named 'Jack Trainor' also got 3 months DQ from the fight and has also had Incredible Results over the past 2 or 3 years (and he's just starting out as a Trainer in his 20's ) ... He's not a rival of Grimson's on the track at all , more of an ally , and is RIGHT ON IN on whatever it is that Grimson is doing . (To get these unbelievable improvements) I didn't say drug cheat. Every stable gives horses something . It's just the something 'seems to be working to exceptional extremes' with these 2 Trainers . ( Grimson and Trainor ) All stables have secrets and staff usually keep them with them. I never told any one anything at a new stable about anything happening at previous stable. Out of respect for their peers and fellow combatants. Therefore No-one says what they do to get results. I'm sure EVERYONE would like to know the methods of Grimson and Trainor. (Betterzippit (a plodder in Nz) won $500,000 in one race this year at Perth) So it's a PROFITABLE Method. Would be awful for 2nd horse connections if foul play is being used in the 'Method' . Must of Been Extremely Awkward for Hayden Cullen , racing horses at Group Level constantly with Marky P , then go to Telfer's and try and do the same thing without any overlap of method ?? . No wonder that partnership didn't last.....lol.
  11. I would say there would of been video evidence (people recording on phones) of the fight and it must of been clearcut he was still getting stuck into the guy as security was trying to drag him away. The instigator should be given 'Time' as well. Bit unfair on Grimson (or any high profile sportsperson in any sport) to be 'picked' in a public spot. I guess with the Appeal pending , there's not really any other coverage to add. Jason Grimson has had absolute 'Extroadinary results ' past 2 or 3 years as discusseed many times here and All around the harness world in general. Just 'too many Freak improvements made on battling horses'?? , that make no sense to the ordinary harness racing participant, and makes the prior and/or rival trainers look like mugs. you have seen it . It's shocked me as a neutral observor, the wins of Betterzippit esp, Boncel Benjamin , Loyalist , I cast no shadow, and about 20 more as well and you saw Majestic Cruiser running fast in Nz at the the Nz Cup last year running 2nd and not far off winning it ?? think he did win the messenger beating Self Assured actually. Horses showing real 'fight' just like the Trainer ๐Ÿ˜‚
  12. Chief thinks only average... but who isn't compared to Waller with 700 horses listed lol.. I would say Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott would have a 'fair few' as well. they syndicate now with All these micro shares of things like buy into 8 horses for 2k no more to pay and you have a so many 100ths of a share etc. quite funny what they can con people with lol. Just wanted to add Gai and Adrian have the most expensive horse in Australia at the moment. A yulong investments (chinese) purchase for $10,000,000 earlier in year from UK. where she won 4 Group 1's. Second highest price ever paid at auction for a racehorse. named ALCOHOL FREE . a mare no less ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. It won a Randwick trial on Friday and nearly ready to go this time In.... Fancy paying $10,000,000 for a mare?. Could of just paid $1,000,000 each for 8 race winning colts, and had $2,000,000 left for the training fees for a year or 2 ..... and had 8 times the fun and 8 times the chance of winning a Big race.
  13. Gai and Adrian are still pretty good Chief. Over 1000 winners from 5670 starts and closing in on $100,000,000 prize in 7 years. 2023/24 15 24.2% 18 53.2% 62 $1,076,650 0 1 0 0 $1.47 2022/23 160 20.6% 201 46.5% 777 $19,961,245 4 3 13 12 $1.07 2021/22 158 18.7% 200 42.3% 846 $14,996,242 5 4 4 4 $1.02 2020/21 137 19.1% 179 44.1% 717 $10,004,215 2 2 2 8 $0.96 2019/20 141 16.5% 217 42.0% 853 $10,729,641 4 2 6 4 $0.80 2018/19 127 16.0% 179 38.4% 796 $8,438,700 0 3 10 7 $0.85 2017/18 165 19.0% 227 45.1% 869 $11,913,027 3 7 8 8 $0.90 2016/17 151 20.1% 193 45.9% 750 $9,537,305 2 4 4 13 $0.89 Overall 1054 18.6% 1414 24.9% 5670 $86,657,025 20 26 47 56 $0.90
  14. Isn't he doing well. surprised me winning here (Ben) but drove a cracker race and what a great win for Mossdale Ben. 2 big trophies lately . kurow and now the Maurice Holmes Vase . well done Team HOPE. great stuff. And imagine Muscle Mountain in the Dominion ? I bet Ben can't wait for that ๐Ÿ˜‚ with 'Sundee' now retired . after their tremendous stoush last year. Nat had every chance in the world in front and mowed down easily really. (Anything goes) Smithy's Terror was a strong 3rd in Auckland Cup 2 miles (getting past Copy That late in the piece) so he is showing some toughness gained , and a possible Nz Cup place chance all going well ?.
  15. Mystic max won easy in the end.Oh well. Well I guess he's always been a good horse. 2 years ago Won the 2 year-old sires stakes Group 1 (fav Highgrove galloped out the back) A year ago placed 2nd (to Masterly but beaten 6 lengths) in the 3 year-old Sires Stakes (fav Highgrove galloped out the back) and then then 2nd in the Nz Trotters Derby (to Nazareth) (fav Highgrove galloping out the back but recovered to run 3rd somehow , well done John ๐Ÿ˜†) Masterly and Nazareth have rather surprisingly not won this year as 4 yearolds, and Highgrove hasn't started yet. they all might 'turn up' yet ? so maybe Mystic Max is gunna clean up now that he has Nat's 'rose petal' hands showing Blair (ironbark hands) how well he goes with a nice drive and touch ?? (Blair did win the 2 year old race so did ok lol ๐Ÿ˜‰)
  16. All our TABs are gone Brodster. The 6 all within 4 km of me are all gone past 3 years. All the Brissy suburbs around me have closed.... and the local I attended for years and years on Saturdays and probably 1000 times is now a chinese cooking shop this year ๐Ÿ˜ช. TAB got the chop (stick) . I miss chatting with the franchisees. some Pub/Taverns still have TAB facilities tacked on one end and run (on the fly) by the Bar staff who KNOW nothing about horses and can barely run the ticket machine (they try to get to use a self serve one)......... but it's not the same, and a different demographic attends. so I don't do that.... so just stuck on SportsBet all the time now at home , they have 2 Free to air TV channels of just horse racing from channel 7 every Saturday. You have to keep flicking between the 2 all the time is a challenge to keep up with birdcage etc..... Are TABs gone in Nz too ?
  17. yeah thanks for that mate. Mystic Max still quite inexperienced and the Hopes train trotters very well so Midnight Dash seems the one to beat. and just looked at the race 7 Group 3 form and 'Anything Goes' galloped badly at the start for around 40m when resuming last start . I think he'll miss away again in this bigger field . Cox got run off on the corner too, driving with AllamericanLover , (who might have won it otherwise). Tim Williams might get it home this time. might save my 100 for Saturday by the look of it ๐Ÿ˜†.
  18. Was that the horse or the trainer in the punch up after the race hahaha thats clever. ๐Ÿ˜‚. I am surprised at the punch up stuff. Must of been quite serious to get 12 months though. People react badly to criticism sometimes , but to jeopardise his license , after winning the last 2 Interdominions and that , is crazy. Well sometimes things aren't that easy (like simple bi-carb level testing and stuff like that) Lance Armstrong and his cronnies got away with it for years and years in the cycling world , even with strict daily testing. It took a confession from a rider to bring them down ultimately. In USA currently at this time , 12 harness racing Trainers are training under 'Stays' still , after positives for this and that . Charging and proving is difficult for even simple things. 'Cobalt' cases cause plenty of issues even , in both thoroughbred and Standardbred. I think there is too many lawyers making black and white turn grey if you know what I mean...
  19. While the Brodster is worrying about someone getting a dollar off old trotter Rachemupanov might be better to have a crack at Nat getting a Five-For.... Good to see Natalie Ras at Addington, and 5 X Odds On Favourites for Friday night Fun .? this is great news. ๐Ÿ† Races 2 - 3 - 4 - 6 - 7 Are We Getting on this lot now that Spring is in the Air ? Been long Winter break from Nz trots betting , but good horses are coming back now ! good to see... So everyone's been Looking After our Queensland lass I hope ? hope someone remembered a nice massage and that ? Limbered up for action ..๐Ÿ˜‰ And we are getting on at the 20-1 for 5 winners or not ? Pop a 100 in , 2 k comes out ......Must be some sort of chance with dreamy driving? (dropped $100 on QLDer SKIRT THE LAW last weekend at Caulfield that went down there and was spose to win ๐Ÿ™„. beaten narrowly into 2nd.) *Leave/ drop the 'Luvstruck' drive in the 5th race the flying Fillies race out, as Mark possibly wins that one with the polemarker.
  20. This location you gave me really sucks mate. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Dug up enough of the yard to bury a few Covid vaccine victims at least. But there's No sign of the Cash ?? Starting to think you've been to TAB already with the Tin ๐Ÿ˜„ and used Brodies past tips maybe? instead of getting on the Allstars ?
  21. Come off it. I don't know what they're on about , but the Brodster is all over it, and having the 'Ravioli' for breakfast .
  22. Kurow Cup then Nz Cup according to this article. ....wow......bit of a jump ? The New Zealand Cup got another contender when Mossdale Ben produced a powerful victory in the Kurow Cup at Oamaru yesterday. The Greg and Nina Hope trained pacer rounded up a quality field with ease to give driver Ben Hope his first win in New Zealand since May. After handling his first standing start well and producing a slick victory, the Hope camp now plan to nominate Mossdale Ben for the New Zealand Cup and give him his chance to show whether he can foot it with the countryโ€™s best pacers. โ€œI am pretty sure he will be nominated for the Cup now,โ€ Ben Hope said. Copy That, and Akuta , and Self Assured , (the 3 extra super good 2 mile horses) won't be getting too nervous about Kurow Cup winners ๐Ÿ˜Ž. They aren't even handicapped after all their 2 mile and Cup wins previously ๐Ÿ™„ , so everyone else be just racing for 4th ๐Ÿ’ฐ . spose the Aussie Grimson horse got amongst the 3 'Big guns' last year , but that was a bit of a 'Grimson Fluke type of thing' I think running 2nd. (Majestic Cruiser)
  23. Here's a World famous photo from Kurow in 1969. Maurice Holmes down low tumbling , and Ted Hooper about to go into orbit !!!
  24. Million to one to do it twice. very few dead heats anytime , as the judge will always find a few millimetres to split them. Jay Ar and Robin Dundee the most famous one at Forbury park in the 60's in harness racing. The Interdominion Grand Final dead-heat. Yesterday at Caulfield was very close with Hot favourite Cylinder . In the Goldolphin blue somehow having a margin .?? doesn't look like it. ? 2 years ago there was great controversy as they gave the 2nd photo here a dead heat was declared with hot favourite Defribillate and Hangman (also at Caulfield ) when there seems a fine margin ???
  25. Here we are . A fine action shot of Richard winning the Cup with Bonnie's Chance (Armalight 2nd off 10m handicap) Turning for home and it's 'Full throttle '!!!! And you could use the whip properly and drive them to Win in those days. Instead of all this pussy-footing around they do now ๐Ÿ˜…. Auckland Cup is better race though Walt ?. (Gammalite ๐Ÿ† beat Bonnie's Chance into 2nd place the same year I think it was) ๐Ÿ˜‰ good to see the kiwi's getting something here though. (tongue in cheek) See old 'Hands Down' in the distance in photo after one of his gallops
