Best of Luck with your horse Basil. Of course it's an industry with 'head in the sand' attitude by participants !!!. It's a Competition. You are trying to beat the rivals. What they do at their stables and with their horses (trainers and owners) is their Own business. don't share secrets if you get an advantage to Win....... . Once they (horses) hit the Track , the drivers have to show respect for each other firstly (for workplace health and safety) and also respect for the punter (by having a Go everytime) And respect for the owners/trainers (by not sharing secrets gained from other stables and following the guidelines of doing the (Best for the stable that just paid me to drive their horse) once again drivers don't share secrets/stratagies if you get an advantage to Win......

The Winter Quiz of HARNESS RACING GREATS A-Z

M and M's day , and some more great 'M' horses in todays quiz . Can anyone answer any of these Quiz horses with their name beginning M. have a crack at any..... Q1/ This little guy bagged the big November double of Cup and FFA just as Armalight, Bonnies Chance and Hands Down had done in the few years before. Q2/ Robert Dunn horse that won many giving his connections plenty of Song and Dance ? Q3/ A nice open class trotter in the 80's that the 'Chief Stipe' might only remember? Q4/ This was the first horse to take advantage of a great race losing it's Handicap status and therefore win a 2nd one of them. What horse? what race? And the Aussies in NZ........... Q5/ and Q6/ These 2 bushwackers really let the Aussie side down. It has been more than 40 years since a kiwi was allowed to win an Addington Interdominion with Lightning Blue, Golden Reign and Baltic Eagle keeping the Canterbury faithful winless at the countries best track for decades. Would of been more than 50 years if it wasn't for these 2 flops running unplaced in a Addington Grand Final. -
Why ? aren't they just expressing opinion whether right or wrong on social media.? bit like some here. (although they show extreme bias and defame people badly sadly . but doesn't social media do that every minute of every day ? i.e They are Not having any effect on the outcome of any race .... so why bother 'call to account' ??

all dressed up ? and where are they going ?

The Mango ? There's also a few spuds ?

No I actually like all harness horses , but Gamma and Village Kid are Extra Special because they were both trained for near 100 wins each in the best of company by Trainers that were just everyday blokes like you and me ...... Nearly all Group 1's are won by Professionals horseman. Nz and Aus having near the world's best. A great effort by O'Connor with Gammalite and Bill Horn with Village Kid (also Notman Nz who got him going in the first place) to match them (professional trainers) in any way. ?. Do Remember Pat Cash winning Wimbledon 1987 and climbing up the wall into the stand , was very funny. his only grand slam title. The great gentleman Pat Rafter won 2 US Opens to make up for those near misses. his only 2 Grand slam titles. Kyrgios is a scourge to the game. embarrassing..

Rangatira and the Horseman have cleaned up some NZ Champions. A lot of Nz horseman seem to like this late entry. Perhaps a Legend for being a Rogue ? Q10/ This horse with appalling manners won his Cup after rearing at the start and giving them 50m . with the aid of a stablemate taking out a couple of opponents shortly after , he got a good run in transit to take victory. Perhaps his BIGGEST claim to fame is at his very last Race start of his career he pushed GAMMALITE back to 2nd spot , rushing past him up the home running (not many can do that) much to the excitement of Reon Murtha. Gammalite still says it was a Fluke lol... who was that fluke artist? -

'L' day sees some L ovely horses in action in the quiz. Can anyone guess some of these ? have a t crack at one or two if you think you have it.... Q1/ This great horse did it all really and this beautifully built horse might become a siring sensation ? Q2/ This great horse , also a stunning 'Looker' knocked off the Aussies in the Miracle mile in his fine career and you could always see him 'Flashing' home late in race with his mane and tail very flash indeed.. Q3/ And some double LL's in the horse's name. This bloke clearly the best with a great career and resume with junior driver Mango piloting him to numerous wins before the Iceman took over and kept it going. Q4/ This double LL caused quite a sensation when 'face-planting ' into the Addington track in a feature race , and taking out 8 of his opponents in the process ? Q5/ This double LL horse was one of the 5 left standing (racing) when horse Q4 bit the deck. He sadly ran 5th. He was good enough to make the Interdominion Final at Addington 3 years later but found the great Q6 Aussie too big and too strong lol.... The Aussies to get to Nz shores and make an impact ........ Q6/ This brilliant Aussie (kiwibred really but don't tell anyone) is the One and Only Australian trained horse to win both the Interdominion Final and the Nz Cup on Nz soil. what a little champ .... Q7/ Kerryn Manning not only did well with Arden Rooney in Nz but took out an Auckland feature with this great trotting mare one year as well .? Q8/ Picture Clue./ Have a go at this horses brilliant Gait ?? why did we need American breeds with Pacing like this? Without hopples and all ? And this horse set a World Record ? Who is this magnificent animal and what was the record? -
Ash Barty won Wimbledon last year at a young age and was getting better each year. Now just retired ??!!?? The Idiots running tournaments, pay them TOO MUCH money and some are happy to go and play golf instead lol. Ash retired at 26 years old with roughly 20 mill ....lol.... And now we are stuck with this Horrid Nick Kyrgios repping Australia , and once again abusing all and sundry for the umpteenth time , Including members of the Public now ..... NO Other Sport would they tolerate his antics. In the heated battle of footy any abuse of the ref is just not tolerated. Disgrace to Tennis this Kyrgios Mug is ......

Good one Blackie !!!. you are on the money with Krug taking the Nz and GN Derby's last year. Koala King had that many wins , no one could count them all from all the places he went. (I see he did win 1 out of 3 starts he had at Auckland afterall) Koala King had 40 Harold Parks wins including a win over one of tomorrows 'L' horses in the Interdominion Grand Final. I know you know that horse Blackie lol, so will be interesting to see if anyone else remembers . Knight Pistol smashed out over 50 wins from 180 odd starts. Sure was a tough bugger alright. -

KKK day for the quiz of harness greats over the years to of raced in NZ. can you name any of theses?? Q1/ Double Derby . say no more the aussies ..... Q2/ KK the great one might have started at Auckland. can't quite remember though. Think something happened and he didn't win. Q3/ K for Kerryn, she may have won the Nz Cup with Arden Rooney but her mighty 'K' trotter that she won in Europe with could not win at Auckland sadly. -

Who can forget that 'Amazing' mare . Yes last year she plucked 2 of the 3 Group 1's on offer for her in Brissy. 1st in the Rising Sun (a new race) for Mark driving, 1st In the Blacks A Fake with 'Stare Blair' driving , and inbetween those was a very narrow head v 1/2head 3rd in the Golden Girl for Ant's driving. (Spellbound was 2nd in that one) kiwi American Dealer (Ant's) won the QLD Derby brilliantly , with your mate Captain Crusader 2nd, KRUG 3rd. Anthony Butt winning the Qld trotters Cup too with Crusaders teammate Tough Monarch for Alchin. loved it..... Can only hope we see some more great racing like that again !!!!!!!!, even though Copy That and King of Swing aren't here this time round. -
You might be a mate of 'Happy's" but the bloke is on a crusade against harness racing. How can you 'hear, hear" that comment ?? and say it's sane? It's a lot of Rot. Who are the 'Some' for starters? Alford Confessed. No-one, Not even the imaginary 'some' think he is innocent. Kerr copped a barrage of criticism on this site for his deplorable , selfish actions. Is his sentence long enough? McGrath went out for 8 years DQ. sorry I'm not sure which group processed that . (but that sentence too harsh IMO) Happy can come back and enjoy 'nonsense' if he feels up to it. but left because he doesn't like Noodlum lol......

G day there, they are trying to get more uniform handicapping through all the states, so they have a NR = National Rating , the bigger the number the more highly regarded/rated is the horse from Group race placings, etc.... the lowest is 40 for a 2 year old, 120 the maximum for fastest class FFA horses. The B is a Band local rating They have Band 5 down to Band 1 , based on number of wins in 'Band' races. Just another way to assemble fields. usually a Metro or City race would be a 'Band' race B5 Band 5 horses have won one Band race. B4 Band 4 horses have won 2, B3 have won 3 , B2 have won 4 races with a Band penalty , and All the field above in the Wondai's Mate open have won 5 or more of those, so are all B1 horses. except kiwi FIRE FOX who hasn't raced against this FFA company as yet (only a B3 93 rater) He's in for shock !!!!! They'll be going like scorched Cats !!!! -

Jumping Jack Flash it's 'J' Quiz day already...... have a crack at any of these ........ Q1/ Picture Clue . Loved by everyone in his day. Loved by everyone in this day. Bet you All know this guy ? Q2/ Marky Boy raced yesterday's Quiz horse Il Vicolo as an owner himself , along with the Seaton family , to win about $1,500,000 . not to shabby ? BUT then he raced one of Il Vicolo's sons himself as well , (along with the Seaton family) to win another $750,000 . Who was that son of a great starting with J...? Q3/ Bet Mark has pictures of those one's from Q2 on his wall lol.... set him up very nicely. But there might be even more pictures as both those 2 horses won the NZ Derby for him. BUT how many NZ Derby's has Mark Purdon won? The Aussie to of raced in Nz........ Q4/ we are in reverse here, as this bloke (like many others ) Began his career with 3 wins in NZ. But won all his features in Oz for a WA chap who sadly got cancer at the same time and passed away at 40 years old. but Not before winning an Interdominion blowing away Nz Cup winners Blossom Lady and Christopher Vance and others.... -
As the July Month of fantastic Queensland Harness racing kicks off this Saturday , the first lead in Open Class feature Has near a field that Addington or Alexandra Park would of been pleased to see in NZ. The 'Wondai's Mate' Open Sprint has a great field set to do battle in 1.51 mile I will guess. (FYI Wondai's Mate was a great local horse in the 80's that won twice at an Auckland Interdominion , but lost his driver in the Grand Final won styilishly by Gammalite.) 2022 JLH FINANCE WONDAIS MATE OPEN (LISTED) 1660M $25,970 No NR.
