Krug the only Big race I remember in the Great Northern Derby last year. 'Bolted' out of control clear of the field on Tony Herlihy, but still won. Ususally the casual rule is "The harder they pull, the faster they Stop" . I never won a race on anything pulling like that ever. They often give up in a stride or 2 if overdoing it for 2 laps like that horse just did in Oaks.

I believe Mr McGrath has solved the main issue worrying horsemen and harness racing integrity by withdrawing his application . so issue solved. The Invercargill trotting club (like and club going , even Interdominion council do it to suit ) Should be Allowed to program whatever race conditions they like. It's their race. If they have enough money available this year or any year to make it a Group 1 at $100,000 , then Group 1 horses should be encouraged to start. No Issue. Issue Not Solved = demolishing the Noel Taylor Museum for a car park at Alexandra Park ?? and just having all that remarkable memrorablia, packed in boxes? like has happened at Addington and Ellerslie too apparently.
