  1. Just called in to the Cambridge gallop trials. There was no commentator for their trials. The judge Tom Thomson was reading out the starters, advisinf they had jumped. Then announcing results. I would say this was a bad joke and surely not good enough. Clearly they would rather no one than me. Which is a bit baffling to be fair. But its no surprise really
  2. Utter Crap rule. Can't see why you have to concede anything in a race. Jordan very stiff here. Apparantly Ferguson was marginally in front of him so jordan was found to have to concede. A rule made by people who have never been out there.
  3. Needed you to send me that link a year ago Bill. i'd have been off and gone
  4. Yes. Would love to know where that job was advertised
  5. Sadly. Its cut throat. Going back to when i was calling in the CD prior to Tony Lee's comeback the same man told me i wasn't good enough to be calling there and pushed hard for another now full time caller to call there instead. Fair to say he was not happy that Tony was reinstated as it didn't fit his agenda. Disappointing really when one of your idols "shits" on you.
  6. Thats still happening. However under the red traffic light there was no point until it changes. It worked very well at the early December meetings. But its still not enough for me.i feel as though i have more to offer than just that.
  7. Cheers John You have always been a supporter of mine. Always loved calling your dogs too. Ive had hopes that the mindset would change but my latest efforts to reach out resulted in being dismissed and told to dump my rscecalling equipment. So thats that
  8. Thankyou Brian and the other people who have posted. The words nean alot Yes,sadly years of travel and work at the expense of my health and family has amounted to nothing. Unfortunately, one of the most "tired" callers mentioned is the one who won't go into bat for me and told me to give it away as there will never be a place for me. As soon as my training commitments cease i will be moving to Australia to hopefully call some ants running down a wall or whatever i can find.
  9. Sadly il never call another race in NZ
  10. Clearly not. Given i was at the pukekohe harness trials and a lot closer for a mercy dash.
  11. on course
  12. R10 westport.....🙈

3 months apparantly. About what was expected
  14. Im glad to hear that the information doing the rounds was blown out of proportion.
  15. I wonder if charges will be laid against the other soeed dualling driver for abusing the female horsewoman attacking.. Not a good look these days to be abusing woman. I am surprised this hasn't been brought up by the stipes.

Thankyou for this. Yes if he was a driver who had 8 drives a day he might get 1 or 2 meetings tops, however as WE have both now stated...he has 1 or 2 a day hence he will get longer (3 months)

You clearly are living in fairyland if any stipes decision will be changed by him "making up for it". It's like robbing a bank and giving half the money back to avoid jail....Not going to happen.

I am repeating what i was told in the stipes room on more then 1 occasion. I dont agree, however its what they believe.

Couldnt have explained it better. Yes there are aggravating factors but fact remains he is guilty of breaching the rule he has been charged with. If he had hooked him.out and gone nowhere it wouldnt have been an issue. The fact he hooked him into a pocket and looked desperately unlucky is an integrity issue and ANY stipe will tell you the only people they are there to serve is the PUNTER. Nothing agaianst Ross.Hes a good honest battler but he will get a long stint away from driving for this one.

With his lack of drives he will get longer..If he had 6 drives a night he would get 3 weeks..6 drives a month tops... he will get 3 months at least. It was a terrible lack of judgment.

  22. Here are some selections for Cambridge today. Sadly HRNZ have rendered these no longer useful and as they do take me some time I thought I would at least ensure someone reads them for my trouble. Race 1 Race Time:3:41pm THE CLUBHOUSE FATHERS DAY SPECIAL THIS SUNDAY TROT 2 Bun In the Oven 3 Trifolium 4 Romeo Foxtrot 5 Sly Punter BUN IN THE OVEN is overdue a maiden success. Cost herself dearly August 12 when pacing off the mark and lost 50m in finding the correct gait. Should have won. Barrier one shouldn't be a concern. TRIFOLIUM was backed and beaten in most of his starts. Freshened since trotting roughly at Auckland in April but no workouts to fit him for this. A place chance. ROMEO FOXTROT is another horse coming in fresh without a trial. Ran a career best race manners and placing wise last January, so spelled on a good note. May need this but is the best horse in this field. SLY PUNTER is becoming more reliable and on his day can sneak a bit of place money. Race 2 NZMCA PARKING AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE 1 Doctor Steve 2 Pacing Hope 5 Heza Player 6 Victor Bravo DOCTOR STEVE surprisingly only finished fourth August 12 here at Cambridge after being a blackbooker many times at Auckland. He lands barrier one here and he should dominate this race. The bet of the night. PACING HOPE is first up for the Donnelly stable. Hasn't raced since January and was very green then. Had a workout August 10 and still looks like a work in progress. Ability counts. HEZA PLAYER is also very green but has done zero wrong in both starts. Has good gate speed and if he could find the lead is a real chance of upsetting. Did well to stick on being parked throughout at start two. VICTOR BRAVO is a horse with talent and is better then the form reads. Sadly another poor draw makes it hard and he seems to be being driven for one run at them of late. Follow. MR WONDERFUL still makes mistakes in his races but he has gone the odd good trial against fields of this calibre so respect the stable to have him sorted. Race 3 Race Time:4:31pm CHRISTMAS @ THE RACEWAY TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE 3 Courage Of Montana 5 Margot 6 Watch And Learn 4 Bad Medicine COURAGE OF MONTANA has really lit up the trials at Pukekohe recently. A winner in three of five workouts and trials. Did things wrong in his first qualifier but rectified that August 6 with a dominant win. Too good for these. MARGOT has performed with credit in all three maiden runs at Auckland. The hardest to beat with the race form. WATCH AND LEARN has been overall disappointing since running third on debut. Drawn wide but get's driven with a sit regardless. You can't leave him out. BAD MEDICINE is beautifully bred out of the good mare Suidelike Meisie. Extensively trialled with seven runs. Has won four of them. Hasn't gone time in any of them yet but has run behind some smart ones. BARBAROSSA has a bit of race day form but can let the side down. Consider for first four options. Race 4 Race Time:5:06pm BLUE DO 23 SEPTEMBER. TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE 4 Obsession 2 Harder Than Diamonds 3 Waitforever 9 Be My Rose OBSESSION is just a two year old filly. But she won powerfully on debut in March showing good gate speed off barrier one. Spelled after failing in the sires stakes heat at start two. No recent trials either but is a class filly. HARDER THAN DIAMONDS did good things last preparation. Latest third in April was in strong premier night company. Had a hard 2:44 workout run pre lockdown too so strips pretty forward and looks the likely leader. WAITFOREVER hasn't raced since February but looked forward when winning a workout August 10/ Looked a little weak at times but should have strengthened up. May need a run but good enough. BE MY ROSE gets a rotten draw of one on the second row following out a horse with speed but bad manners. Got the penalty free win August 12 from the markers but needs luck today. STARRY STAR has run second in her last four runs at Cambridge. Forget the last run, it was at Auckland in a 1:55 mile. Always a place chance. Race 5 Race Time:5:34pm IKE UNSWORTH MOBILE PACE 6 Private Eye 3 Girls Are Best 7 Wet Flipflops 5 Riverman Sam PRIVATE EYE has run second in all three starts here at Cambridge. forget the last run, he looked all at sea at Alexandra Park. Narrowly defeated in all runner up runs and always seems to strike a really good one. Tonight is no different but still an each way hope. GIRLS ARE BEST had no luck August 5 sitting parked throughout. Still showed that hitch in her gait but may be better rolling so expect her to sit handy again tonight. WET FLIPFLOPS continues to press on this preparation after dead heating and staying a maiden. Seemed to have every show August 12 and this is a hotter field tonight but throw in somewhere. EAGLE DANCER is an interesting runner having not raced in three and a half years. Good enough to line up at two against the best. Zipped home a good quarter in her second workout this time in, three weeks ago. The smokey. RIVERMAN SAM was only beaten a head on July 22 in quick time here and benefits from scratchings tonight. MAJOR HOLIDAY caught a few eyes on debut but hasn't been on the track in both runs since. From the draw he can produce a sneaky run tonight. Race 6 BETAVET HANDICAP TROT 2 Jasinova 6 Safrakova 1 I Got Music 8 Phoebe Majestic JASINOVA and SAFRAKOVA provided the quinella at Auckland on July 30. The one concern with Jasinova is the 2200m start at Cambridge. She has botched it on more then one occasion. Her best beginning came in that last start win from the 2700m start point. Going places so top pick on the hope she behaves. Safrakova is a reliable option who, once crossed last time, ended up in the wrong spot. Definite each way. I GOT MUSIC will be a watch and see from barrier one. No question about the motor but still a work in progress. Made errors in both starts at Cambridge previously so take on trust. PHOEBE MAJESTIC is a talented filly fresh tonight. Won her maiden in July with faultless manners. This is her first start under race day conditions at Cambridge but has trotted well here trial day. May be a run short tonight but with manners it's hard to see her out of it. RANDOM JUDE went the best race of her career August 12 when third in the highest rated trot. That was a big step up from scraping home against the maidens. 10m is not ideal for her in this grade but has found her best form in the north. THE LAST GAMBLE is a sprint trip specialist and after a patchy winter, went a bold race last time and is due a win. Race 7 BLACK DOG FURNITURE MOBILE PACE 10 Whooshka 5 Murphys Reward 7 Chablis 11 Arden Velocity WHOOSHKA took advantage of barrier one in a strong winter futurity final on July 30. They went 2:40 in that. Has since had a soft workout August 17 against two maidens. Tricky second row draw to overcome but hard to beat. MURPHYS REWARD undoes himself when over racing even when in front on his own. Needs to relax but has the gate speed to lead them and is a strong chance of hanging on. CHABLIS hasn't raced since June and the only public appearance since was a slowly run stand start workout on August 6, so is sure to be a little short tonight. Couple that with a bad draw and her winning chances are slim. Too good to dismiss. ARDEN VELOCITY won his maiden two starts ago then flopped in the winter futurity July 30. Should be forward and won't be here for a picnic. Race 8 DUNSTAN MOBILE PACE 3 Major Jellis 1 Settle Petal 6 Brookies Jaffa 4 Hooray Henry MAJOR JELLIS won his maiden at Cambridge 12 months ago and hasn't been here since. Was parked early on the 1:54 mile when he was defeated by Rough And Ready. He's a tough horse who should lead early and choose his destiny thereafter. Top pick. SETTLE PETAL steps up in class tonight but has the advantage of barrier one. She was surprisingly beaten August 12 but that was her first race in a month and had only had the one slow stand start trial prior. Should get every chance. BROOKIES JAFFA didn't race at all in August due to programming and covid. In career best form in July. He's overdue a race and hasn't missed a beat in lockdown. He will have to cover territory where his main danger won't. But he can win. HOORAY HENRY is only a two race winner but is a smart horse. Only three lengths from Marathon Man at Auckland July 16. His home track is a happy hunting ground for him and with a cart into this, he also can run over top of them. Race 9 HIRE A VENUE AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP TROT 5 Call Me Trouble 3 In Sequence 1 Majestic Harry 4 Presidential Jewel CALL ME TROUBLE is the X factor horse in this. Simply, if he trots he wins. This is his preferred track in the north as it's left handed. Won his only start here in dominant fashion. Needs to behave though. IN SEQUENCE also has start number one at Cambridge which should suit given where his roots were. Has taken to Auckland racing with aplomb however. Forget the last start. Drew 8 over the mile and seemed all at sea behind the mobile. 15m behind is not hard given the makeup of this field. Each way. MAJESTIC HARRY is an honest trier in what is potentially his farewell NZ race. Has the front to himself with the other horse being unruly and with his manners expect him to lead for the early stages. A big danger to the class types. PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL finally got the money August 12, albeit she fell in. Back to the 25m mark tonight but that is offset by the small field. The 2200m seems her distance at this track. PHOEBE IMPERIAL couldn't quite finish it off from this mark August 12. A smaller field helps that situation however and in an even field gets his chance. Best Bet: Race 1 (2) Bun In The Oven Each Way Value: Race 8 (6) Brookies Jaffa
  23. My plane was 2 hours late and i got to the track while horses were walking around at the start.sripea wouldnt put racw back 5 minutes so i had to sprint up the stairs and i didnt even have time to unpack my gear before they srarted. My breath returned enough to get through but i suffered a panic attack. It actually triggered a few more after that too. An anxiety that got me in the hannon memorial later that year and also in a Te Aroha hurdle race. I battled with ut for some time until Davey Mac slapped me back into reality and it never happened again. So yes it was funny but it had a serious side. I was offered the chance to get Ryan Bradley to call the race from the studio but my pride got in the way. You wouldnt believe the stress I used to go through with rhe travel.
  24. Thankyou Karrots, certainly reads well. One thing that concerns me and was done last season was the fact they didn't use a commentator on course for the most part. Mark Rosanowski was already on course for the dogs and then later, Aaron just called the races from the Auckland studio. Given the technology they have this was very doable but as much as Aaron tried was god awful for the participants on course. Also it leads to inaccuracies beyond Aarons control. Given the tight purse strings they will favor this option I am sure.
  25. sadly he was never a winning chance last night. He didn't trial well enough last week. A recent stable change away from any of NZ owners control hasn't helped either and that battling run last night was the worst of his career. Australian trainers especially young ones don't very much listen and don't appreciate that being given a horse like that is a privilege few people get. He will probably fade away into obscurity.
