  1. In all reality what do you put on a show although it would have been nice to see someone from hrnz explaining why there is basically no racing in Eastern Southland, why Forbury lost meetings and yet strangely got them back, those sort of issues make good viewing. In reality it is just a chat show, see it for what it is.
  2. Ascot Park friday,8 races, mostly southern horses ,got a few cantabs, field size exactly same as what harness has been doing, this day use to be at Gore, why move it to invers, not everybody likes Ascot.but anyway its 3 weeks since Wingatui and after friday 3 more weeks, seems a big gap in the calandar
  3. It probably is a 5 day stand down, but then it also depends probably on who you are as well.
  4. Tab any other betting place never make money out of winners, losers are most welcome, gee they even give me their money to bet with(bonus)it always goes back so it's one of the reasons for now I'm just taking a break🙂
  5. What happens to the synthetic track if you have large amount of rain on it,trotting tracks are just slushy, and synthetic are?
  6. In all seriousness I know what you mean, smartphone sometimes changes word,I do it too but I make sure I got it right before posting, sometimes anyway sometimes the word clue when typing is rather handy at times.
  7. Yew got the od smelling mistake dood.
  8. There are actually 31 meetings this season in Otago and Southland, that dont include Kurow and Oamaru, they are sort of in between Canterbury and Otago so 31 meetings Dunedin South,so in reality nought much changes,if they are running standalone days and a lot basically are then maybe a few gaps could be plugged,as long as they have the winter racing in hannon shield area it ain't that bad, will still be at Riccarton for the main meetings, one leading trainer in the south has once stated he didn't want less meeting, wanted more, simple reality got to have numbers(fields and interest, betting)and weather, all the southern meetings have done pretty well this season but could have just as easy had all bad days weather wise, only difference between a wet day at Te Rapa and Riverton is it's simply colder but the weather is what it is,cant control it.
  9. I wouldn't worry about things too much,Riccarton only race twice in June and not in July at all at present in June and July 5 meetings are held at( Oamaru 2 and Washdyke 3),throw in 2 at Wingatui and 1 Ashburton all weather track or not no reason why the status quo remains, throw in some midweekers at Riccarton,it could be better for all, maybe? One of the things harness racing has with AWT is the ability to race consistently all year round but probably have reached it max as in numbers of racedays.maybe the gallops could have some more, alot of those Riccarton meetings will probably only cater for the locals and there are probably enough horses to do that. I notice Cambridge have Wednesday meetings planned every fortnight and on the other week it reverts back to grass racing somewhere so in reality a lot of tracks will remain, probably but may not get the shit beaten out of them running low class industry meetings in winter,as for the cost of maintaining these tracks well that's another issue.
  10. 9 races at Ascot Park friday, first meeting in south for almost 3 weeks and 3 weeks to the day until another one Wingatui, should be good numbers and will probably be a stand alone meeting as well,is 3 weeks too long between meetings?
  11. If forbury built a track for harness racing at Wingatui that wouldn't be so bad,use the facility more,it will be interesting to see how forbury go when they race next week.
  12. That was another shambles, hundreds and thousands of healthy cattle killed off, should have been ashamed of themselves and now we have a halfwit drawing up draconian halfbaked ideas for farmers to adhere too in this supposed clean water policy, what a joke this lot in govt are.
  13. He did win by distance and in good times but seems to be a horse that the luck's just not with him simple as that, the southerners have been thin on the ground in recent times but Robyn's Playboy does seem a good sort so something to get enthused about I guess
  14. I am aware that Westport is not cup class and Canterbury is not Cantwrbury lol
  15. And adding to that recently I do reckon that the southern gallops are producing better more interesting fields and racing
  16. There is so much racing that the fields do become repetitive, many times the top class races have small fields, one thing I've noticed in recent years is when Westport race the main race seems to have smaller fields nowadays,so much racing in Cantwrbury less travel.
  17. 3 or 4 short priced winners today, maybe that may be why Metbven gets more interest.
  18. UMC,two last in two starts, has this horse lost his mojo?
  19. Pete's Dash another driver today,junior driver,paying 34 any takers.
  20. True.
  21. 1 question,if forbury was sold would they build a all weather trotting track or maybe a all weather galloping track, doesn't say.
  22. The situation with Gore at the moment is another cock up,the race club will have reduced income with no trotting putting the race club under pressure,it is true that each need each other,in reality the clubs ain't the problems it's the a holes making decisions.
  23. A few years back there was a study done into southern racing,it suggested shifting everything to winton, based on climate and other factors,so what happens later on,gallops shut up shop, when will the confusion end?
  24. In times gone by most if not all of the trotting clubs have funded there own tracks, strangely 2 are sitting idle at present.
