    You often read or hear about the success overseas,not everyone does better off shore,in many forms of life,not sure what point I'm trying to make just saying.

    Ok now the gallops are paying stakes just for turning up,it might be a couple of hundy for the also rans so what happens if they don't get a full field,does the money go to the rest or goes elsewhere.

    I dont like USA racing but if you dont like it dont watch it.

    Historically harness racing has always been a poorer cousin to the gallops so really nought really changes,but gee it's just about non existent in some places now.

    High sports turnover may not help racing but maybe it may make the overall state of affairs better.

    Many people in many positions are hamstrung in jobs,tell me about it.

    Some of these people who are in their suit wearing jobs just go from one job to another,could you really imagine them milking cows,crutching sheep,driving a tractor or truck,not flipping likely.

    Pete's Dash,5th again,just cant get any closer whoever's drives him.

    When one thinks about it,there are many drives or drivers who could be charged for the same offence,the guys who loop the field then sit parked and then fade,there was one in Invercargill in winter that was a standout for that,maybe the fact that O Connell is not a full time driver is the reason for the 6 months,yes it wasn't a good drive but I do remember a horse at nelson going about 35 wide on the turn and nothing done on that occasion.maybe a warning about ones failings might have been better,Pete's Dash seems to be no different with any other driver,sometimes we can stuff things up and can learn going forward.

    The can tabs in recent years have spent a lot of time in Southland,lean pickings for the locals.

    Not one comment for what is a major day southern racing wise,has it just slipped by without hardly raising a ripple,is that reflective of all those southern Thursday meetings.

    The big guns not there but a good field really,U May Collect is turning up,should actually be a good race without the dominators.
