  1. They have closed New Zealanders accounts for their aussie sites, that may have something to do with it but I've also noticed they have blocked those 2 sites completely which seems a bit odd.. As for the TV , the question is how many watch Trackside normally, maybe numbers are up, I don't know how many people watch Freeview through UHF, most probably have dishes but there are probably a lot of elderly who may not have changed.
  2. Do you have a aerial or dish on roof ? Uhf Freeview, racing. satellite , a dish no racing.
  3. I'm not suggesting anyone in particular is attacking anyone personally, just a comment.
  4. I would say someone of the hierarchy reads what the average blokes thinking. Constructive comments are fine on social media, personal attacks not.
  5. You never know, word might get around about a 2400 metre standing start and a cup day size crowd turn up
  6. Should be plenty of racing forum members applying, just what Ellerslie need.
  7. Might have got the exact too.
  8. You would actually think turnover would be down per meeting in the coming season with the extra meetings on Friday nights and Sundays being crammed up with clashes, I don't understand so many things, if they move all Southern meetings off Saturday to Thursday is it to maximize turnover ? If maximizing turnover is what it's about then having more clashes contradicts that thought. Running all those Tuesday meeting up North also seems weird but I suspect they will be racing for small stakes, hard to know what the thinking is at HRNZ. Entain are doing all the things the TAB supposedly failed in, TV, Radio, stakes, etc etc, let's just wait for sometime before we pass judgment, after all the TV presentation is no better, they don't have the place prices, the results etc etc, we haven't seen any change in the radio in anything they took over in February, the new website is not any better than the old version, so apart from pumping a lot of money into NZ, hard to know if they are getting a return, I suspect not,. The biggest concern is the geo blocking bribe which is being instigated by the Thoroughbred fellas up north who promoted NZ First and then got the payback with the AWT donation and the bailout for the TAB when it got into trouble, they will be seeking Winston's magic wand again. Maybe the case is is to make hay while the sun shines, after 4 more years who knows what the landscape will be. Some things just seem too good to be true. IMHO.
  9. Seem to be plenty on tv these days. One wonders how much it must cost to run a TV channel, none of the others apart from.Sky can make money. I expect it don't cost much for the overseas feed, no local input.
  10. Maybe they should schedule one or two race days for Oamaru through the summer to help the farmers through the summer.
  11. Oamaru was having a drought until yesterday when 35 mills of rain, always seems to happen at raceday time.
  12. Wasn't watching today but sometimes you wonder if NZ should basically shut down for winter, sometimes a break can rejuvenate interest too.
  13. Those adds on TV are fucking stupid.
  14. Maybe it's racing in wrong code.
  15. I might be running off in a slightly different direction but a article I read in the Timaru Herald recently regarding Timaru, basically wanting more dates, but the President wanting to get some jumps meetings again, jumps racing is basically dead south of Cook Strait, one wonders how much longer Riccarton keep the National jumps races.
  16. It's kind of weird that there is a Sunday free next month that would be fine to try and race again, sometimes one thinks they jump too quick and dont look at alternative dates, strange ìrony is that July was normally Waimates time anyway.
  17. There weren't many Southeners there, lucky for those who didn't go but what a waste of time all round. Oamaru next ,Thursday week, next year Oamaru moves forward to a Sunday, seems odd two grass meetings in 3 days.
  18. Did that guy who commentates the trials at Winton go into a frenzy over it ?
  19. Probably find he wont get one in the trifecta
  20. I will add is moving many of the Southern harness to Thursdays better or worse, if it's to increase turnover that theory is contradicted by cramming up Sundays with more meetings, so many mixed messages since Entain came to town. One wonders though if Ascot Park would be interested in becoming the third club on Saturdays by racing twilight meetings through some of the summer months, seems two Saturday gallops meet in NZ seems to be the norm during the day but why not another later in the day? Or maybe punters have had their fix by six o clock.
  21. I often wonder if the Southland Racing club has a commitee of only one as Sean Bellew is the only one we hear from or about. I don't think Southern clubs get too bad a deal, they do have limited numbers and only 3 tracks, the tracks don't get the shit beaten out of them by racing constantly all year round, its ok having a few feature days to attract people and true they have few good days but nterestingly all the harness run of the mill days have moved or are being moved from Saturdays to those shit days as he calls it, why would that be?
  22. It's a bit tough on some with no maiden races on Sunday, one trainer suggested they could run twelve races, nice idea but that's a gamble in itself. Strangely last year the same Wingatui meeting, (May 26) had only 6 races and about 40 runners, this year numbers seem to be plentiful, one wonders why the odd mini meeting at Ascot Park or Gore would be a step forward instead of being compelled to travel north or just pull the pin, remember when racing after covid resumed,Ascot Park raced on July 17, surely some areas need some flexibility. Mini meetings may be run of the mill in Northern Harness soon, if at all, so why not the Southern gallops? Weather at this time is a bit of a gamble but that' applies to everywhere in NZ.
  23. If the rider was 20 kgs overweight then I'd like to know how hard to get rid of that much in a short time
  24. One wonders when they will run Auckland Cup next season, and if changed which race will be shifted and to where.
