  1. You've lost me. Clubs currently get 10% of on-course terminal turnover and 12.5% of digital turnover don't they? When was it higher than that?
  2. Really? Can you? What exactly was oncourse based funding?
  3. Are unlicenced people allowed to enter stabling areas on course unannounced?
  4. Understandably. No sign of NZTR implementing any of the safety and welfare recommendations from the April Massey report.
  5. Online where? NZTAB turnover is definitely an investment for me. That's what pays for the racehorses. Unfortunately the finance director won't let me take those costs out of the household budget.
  6. Buggered if I know how 4% and 6% increases since the legislation was effected become 50% .... lol
  7. Did you read that article? Looks like stable at best? 2024 broodmare returns confirm that. The Straight revealed earlier this month that Australia’s 2025 foal crop could be the nation’s smallest since the mid-1970s as smaller breeders either downsize their broodmare bands considerably or exit the industry altogether. ... Cambridge Stud CEO Henry Plumptre believes the foal crop will end up maintaining the status quo when they’re born in 2025, echoing the thoughts of Johnson and Thompson. “Certainly if you'd said that to me three years ago, I would have said we're very nervous over here. But I think the Entain arrival and the lifeline that they've thrown the industry here, that's sort of stabilised the mare numbers,” Plumptre said.
  8. Really? Where did I say that. Just bought another one a month ago! And my NZTAB turnover has doubled in the last 2 months.
  9. Don't agree. Not pointless at all. We know what the guts of the contract is and have to assess our investment in the industry going forward based on what we know and what results we see to date.
  10. I haven't seen any sign of or expectation of any increases in the foal crop as a result of the Entain investment. Seems unlikely to me. Maybe an interim stabilisation of the decline? https://thestraight.com.au/new-zealand-foal-crop-holding-firm-as-breeders-apply-sharper-commercial-lens/
  11. What do you think there is in the contract that we don't know about that is likely to make a difference once Entain have paid for the business in 2028?
  12. Racing Turnover Month 2024 Turnover (NZ Racing) 2025 Turnover (NZ Racing) YoY Change July ~NZ$52 million 1 ~NZ$54 million 2 ↑ ~4% August ~NZ$53 million 1 ~NZ$56 million 2 ↑ ~6% Fixed odds betting now accounts for 90% of win/place turnover in 2025, compared to ~85% in 2024 2 . Tote betting continues to dominate exotic bets (e.g., trifectas, quinellas) with 75% market share, but fixed odds are gaining ground 2 . 🏉 Sports Betting Turnover Month 2024 Turnover (Sports) 2025 Turnover (Sports) YoY Change July ~NZ$60 million 1 ~NZ$71 million 2 ↑ ~18% August ~NZ$62 million 1 ~NZ$73 million 2 ↑ ~17%
  13. @Kit Walker might have them. I don't.
  14. No. It came into legal effect on 28 June 2025.
  15. Yes, though if the online monopoly is doing what was predicted, you'd expect to see clear evidence across the board by now, so it's not a promising indication of that to me.
  16. And that's turnover, not GBR. No harness, dogs or sports included either.
  17. Not imo if it can't be sustained because Entain doesn't generate the necessary revenue from 2028 which seems likely, and TABNZ have significantly reduced income to distribute.
  18. Really? Guaranteed by who? NZTR forecasts are for stakes to be flat through 2028 aren't they? That's because they arranged with NZTAB taking the total 5 year increase partially in advance for the greater more immediate lift.
  19. She does raise a few pertinent points in there though. E.g., the attempted muzzling of licence holders, which we've seen recent evidence of, and the simplicity of some welfare monitoring which would potentially allay (or otherwise) negative public perceptions.
  20. Sorry, it was GRNZ that said the rehoming could be done in 2 years, not the SPCA. 55) Currently GRNZ estimates that registrations will have dropped to around 1,500 by the time racing ends. Even at the current rates of rehoming, it would be possible to rehome that number in around two years. Heightened awareness and consistent promotion may enable that time to be further reduced.
  21. It appeared to be plucked out of thin air by the committee. No accounting was given. It's stated as being over 3 years but in the next breath they report the SPCA saying that at current rates the dogs could be re-homed in 2 years. 96) The total cost of the transition, over three years, is estimated to be up to $60 million, including rehoming, maintaining traceability, the establishment and operation of the Transition Agency, the implementation of its functions, and ensuring participants are supported through the transition.22 There may also be cost incurred by the RIB as they reduce staff numbers and drug testing volumes. 21 GRNZ annual report, 2024. Net assets of $15.821 m, including $5.971 m of cash and cash equivalents 22 Ex GST, inflation set at 2% p.a. and compounding
  22. Well it was essentially a taxpayer decision wasn't it, made by their elected representatives. I know that it is recommended that the Transition Agency be funded by the TAB, which I think is fair enough, but I don't see why they should fund other costs, e.g. rehoming related, and I haven't seen where it has been suggested that they are expected to?
  23. That figure was in the May 2025 report wasn't it? Where is the new report?
  24. I'm still not clear why TABNZ should contribute?
  25. What minorities? I think it's the same majorities that the 'racing bods' are facing.
